    Story 2:
This is EXACTLY why respite care is essential.
When you're the main caregiver for someone (SO, child, parent, etc) it weighs you down. You have to take time for yourself or you're going to burn out.

I had an ex that was mentally and emotionally exhausting. She was diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia. When I found out she was also a meth addict, that was the moment I realized that the relationship wasn't worth salvaging. There was no amount of talking or convincing her that the path she was taking was a dark one. So I had no other choice but to step away that situation.

Glad you got out. I wouldn't change a thing because I wouldn't have my adopted daughter, and I can't fathom life without her. BUT her father was undiagnosed delusional schizophrenic. I worked really hard getting him to understand that he needed help. I put him through school and gladly adopted his bio daughter(I have 2 bio kids and they adore our new addition as well). I stayed for her. We got so close. One month from the end of his probation at his great new job, which meant insurance for his mental illness... he shot and killed himself in front of me. I don't regret a thing. I love that little girl just as much as my bio kids. Funnily, she even looks like me. Be careful out there. ❤❤

If the girlfriend in the second story is having trouble figuring out the underlying cause of her disease, I would suggest going to a functional medicine doctor. They are fully trained Ph. D'S, except they are more concerned with getting to know the patient and finding root causes of problems to then treat, rather than handing out pills like candy to cover up symptoms.

    • @shadowcollins4589

Those doctors don't fix everything. I had a friend whose husband had this sudden medical problem. He lost a lot of weight really fast, he had a lot of skin issues. Like his skin was flaking off all of a sudden. It took them between 6 months and a year to just figure out what it was. And it had to be at least ten doctors they went to see. He had a very very rare disease which is why most people didn't recognize it because it's something a lot of them have never seen.
It almost sounds to me like a could be chronic fatigue syndrome and maybe fibromyalgia. Thing with fibromyalgia is you normally can't test for it. Cuz none of the tests will come out weird.
So that's the case and they just keep telling her there's nothing wrong with her, I don't blame her either.
There's a point where you're just exhausted with all of it and you don't even care anymore.
So yeah going to see these doctors is not a quick fix. It normally takes a good amount of time to figure out what it is
Also all doctors have Ph.Ds. so to say that this doctor is a fully trained PhD is an oxymoron as we are already aware that they are. It does take a lot of time to first rule out all kinds of illnesses. They want to rule all the stuff out first before they continue moving.
I had something wrong with me and I was exhausted all the time, if I did too much I would get a fever, I would get dizzy randomly. And I didn't have insurance so I kept going to the local clinic and they must have seen you over a period of two months and try to rule this out and rule that out. The only reason I finally figured out what was wrong with me is that I went to an appointment to an ENT doctor with a friend. So while she's getting tested in another room I'm talking to him about my symptoms and he specifically told me of some kind of virus that attacks the nerves in your ears. This is very uncommon and I needed a specialist to notice so I never would have found out if I would have had to keep going to the clinic.
There are also limited funds and these doctors cost a lot of money.
It's not a quick fix to anyting. The thing with fibromyalgia is it's almost solely symptoms. There's no underlying issues that can be determined from tests. They just came out with a test for fibromyalgia but I'm not sure how accurate it is. So it is fibromyalgia what you just said is a moot point as a lot of the time you can't tell. If you didn't know better you would think that the person suffering from it was making it up

What makes it better is that the dog needs to be up to date on vaccinations to travel to another country like that XDDD

  • @clarky23
    @clarky23 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Story 1:
I'm curious at to what country the Karen is in. I am guessing the United States. If she hasn't had her dog updated on its shots, there is no way that dog is getting on the plane. I am an American and i brought my dog with me to the Philippines. It took me five weeks of getting the proper vaccinations (I'll admit I was behind on a couple of vaccinations and you can't do them all at once), medication, USDA APPROVAL (at a cost of $500), and other permits from the Philippines. The vet informed me the Philppines is one of the EASIEST countries in the world to get a dog into. So if the Karen went through all the proper procedures, she could have just gotten the flea and tick medicine from the vet who processed her approval to travel papers.
My guess is either she was lying about going to Scotland OR ended up with a MAJOR surprise and ended up NOT on the plane.

In my Veterinary Clinic, you have to get the Doctor to prescribe it (obviously) and then you can fill it that day. That is, of course, best scenario. If this pet had been seen by Doctor 1 but they are not in the clinic, but Doctor 2 is, your pet has to be seen by Doctor 2. The only exception is if it is a life saving medication and the pet had been seen recently (The front desk can just pull the prescription as long as a Doctor gives you the okay). And since this dog has not been seen in 2 years, it would be impossible to get a prescription without an exam.

Gotta give you a thumbs up for the story 2 comment.
My step-mother's father was a huge problem in her life until recently. He had very erratic behavior. At some point he smashed his phone out of frustration once and kept bugging her to buy him a new one. When he was moved out of his apartment because of his behavior (he kept moving furniture around at night and the neighbors complained repeatedly), he helped my parents in no way and sulked/bothered people in the lobby; he practically told my father to go screw himself for helping him out. He would spend all of his pension check and bug my step-mother for more money because he had no food and bills to pay. And so many more fun, fun stories.
Not long ago, he had a stroke (he made it out okay). The doctors changed his medication (I don't know the details, but I gather he was being uh... over-pilled) and, now, he's become far more mellow and level-headed. He takes far more mature decisions and things are starting to get better between him and my parents once again.
If someone taking medication is having erratic behavior, it's a good idea to look into what side-effects their medication has rather than thinking it's how they themselves are. Putting a substance in your body generally isn't going to target this *one thing* that's wrong with you - a pill isn't some cluster of magical nano-machines that can intelligently target your illness - it'll have a generalized effect that can interfere with other functions of your body or your brain.

For the second story, what the op is doinh is very laudable but I wouldn't blame him if he were to break up with her. While it's not the girlfriend's fault, it does seem like a one-way relationship.
But they should definitely have a conversation where he explains his needs and how he feels about the situation so that the girlfriend can adapt and make things easier for the op.

Story 1 reminds me of a customer I had a few weeks ago, she wanted to make a return but didn’t have tags or receipts, the jacket was flawed so we all wanted to help her get the return, hell we had 5 people looking for the jacket she had so we COULD do the return, but we didn’t have any left, nor did we have anything else with the brand, so we tried explaining that we can’t do the return, as much as we want to, we can’t, we don’t have information to put it back on the floor, and two managers had both been up to talk to her.
After we explained that we couldn’t find a tag or a similar item, she’d asked if we could just find something with the same price, no, we can’t unfortunately. “Well I only wore it 5 times, and I think it’s ridiculous that it looks this way”
Idk if y’all have seen or worked with wool items that aren’t 100% wool, but they tend to create little balls of fabric as you wear it, yes it’s annoying but you peel it off after a week and it typically doesn’t happen again, if it does, you repeat. Eventually the fabric figures out wtf it needs to do. So I tried explaining that to her, in the 5 years I’ve worked in clothing stores, I’ve seen jackets and tops do what hers is doing, once you take a bit of time to care for them they’re golden.
She didn’t care, said she would rather burn it than wear it again, and that she would no longer be shopping with us. This was her last time buying coats from us and “y’all will be lucky if I come back in.”
Girl we are the ONLY store in town to actually shop at that isn’t Walmart or Menards. We’ll see ya again. The transaction after hers was over $1000. I truly don’t think we’ll be struggling without a couple jacket/coat purchases in the few months we’ve got them in the store.

It's mainly the worm prevention portion. If you give the prevention medication to a dog that has worms, the dog will die. To prevent that, it has to be confirmed that the dog does not have worms.
Although by the sounds of it, this vet only has the 3 in 1 which would be strictly prescription.

Second, if you dont do that, its your fault and you wasted tons of money just for something you didn't do and would have been fantastic to do first before wasting time to plan your trip. Story 2
When are Americans going to demand that their politicians get rid of the leaching healthcare middlemen (the Health insurance industry) so that we can all get the same affordable healthcare as every other modern nation has?
Saying that, perhaps the OP should suggest that his girlfriend apply for SSI, since it sounds like she is unable to work.
Also, the OP needs to find out if his state has Medicaid-expansion. If it does, his girlfriend would likely qualify even if she isn't yet receiving SSI.

The guy feeling burn out, why would he even date someone like that? She doesn't even see money being a problem because she's draining it! Sounds like she needs to start taking things seriously and stop mooching off op. I'd leave a person like that till she at least sees how hard she's making things for op. And if she doesn't then hey op tried his best but some people can't always be helped.

Story with the brother coming home with a male fiance, she specifically said that no one knew she liked men and then all the sudden he comes home with a man. She shouldn't put the family down for it because they're obviously in some kind of shock.
And it seems like this is not a white family. Just from being mixed and having a multicultural upbringing. It seems like it is a family immigrated from another country a generation or two back. There are a lot of things that are still taboo. So I don't agree with the narrator's opinion of how they should be supportive and all that stuff and how they're wrong for it because of the shock value. Especially if it's not accepted in the culture. He can't be too hard on them because of the entire situation.
So it's a double whammy. You have that shock of all my goodness I didn't know you like men when he comes home with a male FIANCEE, not a bf. That coupled with the culture is the reason they are behaving the way they are.
The brother should have been a little more considerate, although he was nervous about coming out to his family. He should have told them when he started DATING the guy. Not like "oh hey guys, this is ----and we're engaged.' Talk about a bombshell.
Family is not always family no matter what. Believe me I don't talk to 90% of my family because all in all there's nothing to talk about with them, with some it's a language barrier and with others it's simply cuz they're terrible people.
Don't always stand by all family they thick and thin JUST because they're family. That's how a lot of people end up hurt and used. You have to look at that relationship and ask yourself, is this a healthy one? If it's not healthy then drop them. You can be sympathetic without getting used and hurt in the process. Don't let yourself be taken advantage of. There are abusive POS family members who use that excuse of "we're family" to manipulate you into doing what they want.
Look at the relationship. If it's nonexistent, and then they come to you out of the blue wanting money or things, don't do it. Cuz you will end up getting used. If they didn't find the time to talk to you when they didn't need money, why do they think they have the right to ask you for it?
Your family is not always blood. I really only have 2 blood family members i really interact with. The rest are too spread out and i didn't grow up in the same city, much less the same country as a lot of them
My family are the ones who were there for me when i needed. The ones who would give an arm for me. My bff saved my life when i tried to kill myself. She's been there through thick and thin. She's supportive but she doesn't take BS either and i need that balance. She's been so amazing and then i have so many friends who have become parents to me. I can basically go into their house, go in the fridge, eat snacks and just hang out. THAT'S my family. I have blood family who have been abusive and they're not getting the time of day from me or any help
