If you want to be able to afford the luxuries of having a trip to Australia then don't have 4 kids. If you want to be able to have the "joys of raising children" they don't expect a luxury trip to Australia.

I grew up pretty close to one set of cousins. We always had Christmas Eve together and shared a summer house. Even at that, I don't see any of us expecting each other to take each other's kids on vacations.

I technically lived very close to one of my cousin most of my life and childhood. She’s been and still is like a sister I never had, and neither me or her tried to force each other on looking out for something that the other is responsible of. So this is why I don’t understand how can that cousin insist so much in getting her children in a vacation away from her and her husband, by forcing it to her cousin and partner to babysit them for their vacation.
I personally don’t do that, however my family often goes to family gatherings when they can though, even if it means going to New Zealand.
Story 2: Sister needs therapy. She’s projecting her hurt, pain and insecurities on Brother (and probably a lot of others) and her son is absorbing her behaviors. She’s the jerk.

She's a freaking narcissist is what she is. Probably the covert type. The kind that played the victim / charity case or switch to major bitch when they don't get their way. You lay down boundaries with them, tell them no, hold them accountable and show that there are reprisals as well as consequences for their actions, you are the jerk. They will demonize you, trash talk you, try to ruin your reputation and even get violent because how dare you not let them have their way. I used to have a friend like this. There's no help for them until they realize that they need help and make a solid effort to change. That's about as likely as Miley Cyrus singing on key without autotune

Story #2, as someone who has lost his mother to Ovarian cancer, I would say he's not an a-hole for throwing her out. That is an extremely heartless and cruel thing for her to say and the way she acted was absolutely atrocious. I would have done the same thing with a few choice words mixed in.
So so so sorry for your loss, friend. You'd have a waaaay nicer reaction than I would. There would be blood shed if I overhear some assface insulting a dead relative.

There's no reason to be embarrassed about being a woman. I'm a tomboy too and its led me to a very fulfilling and successful career. Embrace being a tomboy, there is a wonderful life waiting out there for your individual flair.

I showed the last story to my mom and she said if her son had been the one in the story and he had asked her to stop inviting his ex wife, she would have invited the ex and kids and told her son hes not allowed until he grows up and learns to be civil for HIS children

Last story. I commend the grandparents for continuing to have a relationship with their son's ex-wife. It demonstrates to the kids a wholesome loving family , and the kids will benefit from.
My sister's husband's family never has an ex. Once you're in the family, you're a part of it. They have family reunions where exes even bring their new families to.
Tell the son he can leave his dirty hobag at home from now on if she's so uncomfortable! I'd tell him i don't want her there cause she will probably go after someone else's hubby.
I know that’s right when my late cousin and her ex husband divorced when I was like 12 they had brought their new partners to my family reunion and I didn’t see anyone have a problem with it for what I can tell
If I was in the OP’s shoes, the moment she said “Oh it’s so hard being us, we don’t have money to go on vacations.” I would say “Oh, sucks to be you I guess”
Right? She should have kept her legs shut. I know it takes two to tango, but if you don't want to have to raise multiple children or even a single child, get on contraception. Men, get your vasectomies. Women, get your tubes tied or a hysterectomy. Not everyone is cut out to be parents and the cousin in that story is a prime example.

My family evidently was the exception to the divorce "rules" and I am happy about it. I was taught by word and example that divorce is between marital partners, not families. My father even took my half-brother out with us when we went to the movies, etc... and i had only seen my dad once between the divorce when i was 2 and 13 when he visited once. Both he and my stepfather weren't best friends but they were cordial for the sake of the families. I have never "lost" a family member due to divorce regardless of who was at fault. I am so grateful!

[Story 2] The sister had no right to yell at the OP for disciplining her son. You shouldn't allow your son to bully other kids because it is your job to teach and discipline your son not blame everyone that is actually taking disciplining your child, You shouldn't bring up your brothers lost spouse You live in his house not yours you can't tell him to not discipline your son for bullying his kids. So no OP is not the jerk.
2nd story: props to the sisters ex husband for taking the kids in. I mean yes the kid did say something really bad, but probably influenced by the mom.

Story 2: I can't and don't want to imagine what it's like to lose a parents but I know what it's like to come close to losing both. Watching that, my blood boiled across the screen and if I was in that situation... I'm ripping into her and her son, blood ties be damned
That arrival would have been met with me catching an Uber and asking the Karen, what vacation travel and housing plans did you reserve for your kids? An Uber is not big enough for two adults and 4 kids. Call an Ubur, bring your kids to the airport, and get yourselves and your kids plane tickets, hotel reservations, etc. The place we are going is booked solid already. Have fun.

The whole trip story is so sus. 1) do the children already have valid passports? You sure can't get one in a matter of hours, but if they do then 2) How does the cousin think that she could drop the kids off the day of the trip, and you'd actually be able to get plane tickets for them to go to Australia? Those flights are usually booked full weeks ahead of time, especially if you're leaving from India. X
@@idkyouthinkofaname323 because it usually takes weeks to get them. And not everyone gets passports for their kids unless they absolutely plan on traveling since they need to be renewed so often.
@@idkyouthinkofaname323 that is adults. You would not use a passport for a 2 year old when they are 7 even.
They might have already had passports (although if the parents haven't been anywhere since their honeymoon they probably didn't) but you need a visa to travel to Australia, which I'm sure they didn't have. If you are a citizen of certain countries then you can apply online and get a visa almost immediately (although waiting until the morning of the flight to do that would be unwise!) but India is not on that list. They would need to apply a few weeks in advance to be sure of getting it in time.
I'm guessing the cousin feels the immigration authorities of foreign countries owe her just as much as her family does...
In the UK Small children travel on the parents passports. Older and Adults can get Passports the same day if you are in Glasgow for scottish people e.t.c
@cosmicdebris42 You are nearly 25 years behind the times - they abolished putting children on a parent's passport in 1998. That only worked if the child was travelling with the parent, anyway.
The mother and grandmother in the 3rd story sound awful. They're just like "You dare deny us to force gender norms on our child!" I feel bad for that kid.

Lmao in the last story if I was the dad I would tell my son I disown him in favor of his wife because he's just a cheating bastard and no son of mine. I hate cheaters with such a passion I've told my boys if they ever cheat on their partners then never show their faces to me because they will be dead to me. NO ONE causes their spouse to cheat. Even if that spouse is horrible. The person who cheats makes a decision to do so. If a spouse is so horrible, then get a divorce so you can give a future person all of you instead of just part because you are married. Yes other people can influence us, that doesn’t take the responsibility of cheating out of the hands of the cheater. Breaking someone’s trust like that is so devastating. It is not even good to the cheater since the stress of hiding and any guilt or shame causes a lot of pain. Just be faithful and if you really feel that you don’t want to be with your spouse anymore, do everyone a favor, including yourself and just get a divorce.
I would've tell that cousin to mind her own business and make her pay for the vacation of her own money plus, stop being such drama queen all the time because someone will get back at her and the parents should've cut ties with the cousin and husband because, they're too greedy.

Wedding story: I would’ve made a deal with the girl to wear the dress to the wedding, I would bring the clothes she wants to wear tho, take her away like as soon as she got there so she didn’t have to wear the dress for long and have her change right before the ceremony. I know that would cause problems maybe, but let her be herself. If she doesn’t then daughter will either lose her self confidence or her mom will lose her when she gets older. And this is crappy for the mom to think she’s going to use this lady’s wedding as an opportunity to be able to force her daughter to “dress up like a girl for once.” She wouldn’t be satisfied with once. She would probably use this to try to be like “see you look so pretty don’t you wanna do this more often?” and try to pressure her to do it more until she caves (what she thinks she can do).

Story 1- As the mother of 4 children, I do not understand people who try to push their kids off on everyone else! I have 4 kids, everyone else around me doesn't have 4 kids. It is ridiculous to think the people around you are built in babysitters because YOU had children! Tf is wrong with people?

How did she expect the children to go to Australia with no tickets? It's would've been close to impossible to get 4 tickets in 8 hours. The only thing I would do is call the police and explain that my sister has abandoned her 4 children and expected me to take them to Australia without tickets.

My sisters and I lost our beautiful mother on November 25, 2017 due to Type 2 Diabetes and she also had an Acute Respitory Infection which also resulted that her lungs, kidneys and her liver was failing except her heart. Which was 2 days after Thanksgiving and my sister's birthday was on Thanksgiving Day on November 23rd. Your sister was really a true jerk to act like that. She shouldnt have let her son say that to you and on your son's birthday. You OP lost your beautiful wife to Ovarian Cancer. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Nobody deserves that. I'm glad that you kicked her out! Serves her right! She was a mean spirited woman. I pray for healing for you and your family.
In the final story the op is not a jerk.The op still wants to see his grandkids and also the op has been family to the ex for decades and it was the sons choice to leave her, the wife didn’t leave him.If the op listened to the son and didn’t invite her that would cause a break in the relationship with the ex and the ex was closer to the op’s family than his own son.

For the Third Story I'd honestly say your probably not a Jerk, its your day and if your like its cool they can wear what they want as long as its wedding, they shouldn't complain much less try to force there kid to try to wear something that makes them uncomfortable
I must say if I was offered a trip for my children, husband and myself you wouldn't hear anything but gratitude and love from me.. That goes for a free trip to local museum or zoo. I'd even call and thank them the day of before we got there and bring them something back.. Good people that do nice things for others get burned when they help family members, a little lesson I've learned.

My cousins had a similar situation to the last story. I have a set of cousins, all older than me (the oldest got married when I was 5, for example, while the youngest is only 6 years older than me). Anyway there were 5 men and 1 woman amongst the siblings. One of the brothers has Downs Syndrome, but the rest all married their high school or college girlfriend/boyfriend. Since my one cousin was the only girl, she became very close with all her sisters in-law and they'd all get together at holidays and do stuff like taking my aunt out for lunch for a "girl's day". Spent some vacation time in the summer together, etc.Each had anywhere between 2 and 4 kids and the cousins were all reasonably close based on how close in age they were.
Of my four married male cousins, there was one who was always a little "off". Nothing terrible, but he'd say weird things he thought were witty, but really made no sense. If one was ever going to cheat, it would be him, and he did. Their two kids were in their early 20's by that point and things were relatively amicable. His family would continue to invite his ex to family gatherings because if you include their time dating, she'd been in the family nearly 30 years. She was as much their sister as he was their brother. To be honest as cousins, my family liked her more than him most of the time. You could tell his girlfriend (the one he'd cheated with) was uncomfortable, but I think it was more that this was a tight knit family who'd been together for decades and she was just an outsider. Anyway, that relationship didn't last anyway.
It's hard to cut someone out of your family when they've been part of it for decades, especially when it's your sibling who's in the wrong, not the ex in-law.

The second story reminded me of a memory from 5th grade specifically when the cousin compared divorce or separation to a loved one dying.

just 3 or 4 days ago my half-sister's husband's dad died from a heart attack and at least it lets us see my Nece and nephew again because we had not seen each other for over 2 years
I can somehow relate to the wedding dresses one,I am a trans guy and at my mom's wedding,my mom was trying to force me into a purple dress even tho I have already stated that it makes me uncomfortable,especially since I was in the closet at that time but of course I didnt say that,I showed her some suits I like and I want the opposite color of what my brothers suit is so we match as siblings,my mom went ball and started insulting me in 19494960 ways about how I am supposed to dress like a lady,as if I am one from the start,the whole arguement had a 180° turn when I told her I get to have a choice over what I wear if it means taht it makes me comfortable enough to attend her wedding and I am going to end up going to my friend's place if I couldn't wear a suit,she started calling me selfish and how I only think about myself and my own convince and how I am not considering her feelings at all,and it was her wedding so I had to obey her orders especially since she was the one paying for the clothes,i was really fed up and asked her if she would rather see me cry out of discomfort if it means that she can keep her fragile reputation or will she just go and respect me as a person and respect my decisions since I am the one wearing the thing,not her
and of course she ignored me and preordered the dress,and basically without any hope I was kind of forced to come out so i can atleast wear a suit even though that chance was thin as hell,a lot of things happened in the middle of it but i ended up wearing the suit
When the Karen in story one said “why can’t you take me to Australia” I thought because they didn’t want to have you go missing since there are spiders snakes and pests that aren’t thankful for the trip they offered

BRO THE FIRST STORY " beach with 4 bratty ahh kids" how relatable
She doesn't have to require the bridesmaids to wear dresses. However, if the child's mother wants her to wear one and the bride didn't object to a dress, she can dress her daughter as she sees fit. It may not be nice, but that's really all there is. Really, the bride can just absolve herself of the situation, entirely and tell her future sister in-law that she's not going to get between her and her daughter and it's between them what she wears so long as the color is correct.
The channel's videos are great and all but I can't be the only one who cringes when this dude narrates his impression of a Karen. Like I understand its for the emphasis, but there has to be a limit to where it's exaggerated to a cringe level

Story 1: Not the jerk. The boyfriend made an extremely generous offer, how entitled do you have to be to basically say 'That's nice but we want more'? OP and boyfriend did the right thing by putting their foot down. I do feel bad for the cousin's kids because their mother probably told them they were going on a big vacation and got them all excited, only for them to end up being disappointed. I don't feel bad for that cousin or her father though, they are both pieces of shit.
Story 2: Not the jerk. Had it been only the nephew making fun of his cousin, that could have been solved by teaching him why that is really hurtful, he's still only a kid after all. But the mother crossed the line big time. How could you say something like that to your brother who lost his wife to cancer? I probably would have done something worse than throwing them out of the house.
Story 3: Not the jerk. The cousin's family probably doesn't mean any harm, but you can seriously hurt your daughter by making comments like that. Also, they shouldn't have any say in the wedding. If OP decides her bridesmaids are free to wear whatever they want, those people shouldn't have the right to force their daughter to wear a dress, and they most certainly don't have the right to try and change the dress code of the wedding. It'd be a bit trickier if OP gave this advice to the cousin outside of the wedding, because then you'd get into interfering with someone else's child upbringing territory, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. OP, you're gonna be a badass aunt to this girl!
Story 4: A bit tricky, but I would still say not the jerk. Usually you'd stand by your child's side over their ex, but this is an unusual situation. That woman has been part of the family for over 20 years, has no other family in the country, had zero fault in the divorce, and most importantly, is the mother of OP's grandchildren. I think there's reason enough for OP to still want to involve her ex-daughter in law in their lives.

Unless the cousins were super close there is no reason to get saddled up with the children of a person you cant stand and the sister had to gal to talk to her brother like that while he was kind enough to allow her to stay at his place until she got her things in order. While I think casual clothing is not very suited for a wedding, the couple gets to decide, why should everyone else care, since its just for 1 day.
