    I am one lucky dude! I spotted my first bull moose hiking along the northern end of the Northville-Placid Trail. I was able to observe him at close range for 15 minutes. Awesome!

    Sooo great. I've been trying to catch at least a glimpse of a moose in ADK for over 10 years. Yay you!

    Great video. Been hiking and canoeing the adk for many years but never saw one. Came across possible tracks of a moose and a calf north of Lowe's lake. Maybe that is what they were. Thank you for sharing.

    If you've been lucky enough to see a moose you repeat the same phrase this hiker did for at least 24 hours, " I just saw a moose!!"

    Wise move not getting too close!
    They look like gentle giants, but they can be quite territorial
    On another note that mosquito sounded like it had jet engines.

    Wow, that's crazy! Were you nervous? They are aggressive.

    • @twotonadk
      @twotonadk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was a little nervous when he began walking my way because by that point he was unaware that I was still around. I was worried about startling him again. Aggressive? I don’t know if I would go that far. A cow will protect her calf just like any other mother. A rutting bull is jacked on the T so keep your distance in the fall breeding season. Other than that, I think you’ll be okay.😁

    What state are you in? Or province?

    • @twotonadk
      @twotonadk  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Adirondacks are in upstate New York, south of Quebec.

    It’s great to know that moose are in the Adirondack Mountains, but I wish you didn’t video tape it because now there’ll be some idiot hunter planning it’s demise. I have lived most of my entire life in New York and have never seen a moose, bear, coyote, wolf, bobcat, and mountain lion. I have traveled just about everywhere in the state and have seen very little wildlife present. Besides deer and occasional raccoons, the state of New York is pretty much barren of significant wildlife. It’s terrible to see such a beautiful state with vast wilderness void of majestic creatures like moose. Hopefully one day, the state will consider the concept of “Rewilding.” Present day Western Europe is undertaking efforts to reintroduce species that have been extinct for hundreds of years. Bison, wolves, eagles, beavers, bobcats, and numerous other animals are being returned to their native habitats throughout Europe. As a result, ecosystems are benefiting greatly from their return. Native species play a dramatic role in fostering a balanced ecosystem for all living organisms. This is lacking in New York.

      Unfortunately, I think your are misinformed. The Adirondacks are a tough place to live and never was full of large fauna. However, it is a rich and thriving ecosystem, you just have to know where and what to look for.
      The return of the beaver over the last century as a keystone species has been remarkable. The effects of its return are still not fully realized. The return of the moose from VT, an occasional mountain lion, a wolf here and there. Pretty cool, I must say.
      Never seeing any of those animals on your list in NY??? Get out in the woods. Lol
      Hunting moose is illegal in NY. In addition, they are so low in numbers (700-1000) that using my video to locate is a poor strategy for a poacher. 👍🏼

      @@twotonadk haha. That person's probably never went outside. I Lived there for almost a year and saw a moose hiking the Adirondacks, bobcat, grouse (I think it's called), Bear, beavers, coyotes which by the way I've seen in beacon lol. And we think we saw a wolf but could have been a large coyote.
