- I'm at one of the most recommended restaurants I have had since starting the channel and that is named Pasture which is a very famous Steakhouse with a bit of a twist on their food. They have a branch in Cardiff but also in Bristol as well, very much looking forward to giving this a go!

That's right. A customer is a customer and they should all be treated with the same level of respect. What if someone "outside" spends more money than someone inside?

I went to the Abergavenny Food Festival a few years ago with one of my sons and his missus. Well worth a visit next year, Gary. Look it up! They put me in a pub while they went walkabout. I was entertained by three Welsh ladies there. I wish I could post the photos. Your review is spot on, I reckon. Excellent. A shame the steak was not sang-cuit. 9/10 for activating my drooling! Happy Birthday to The Cameraman! There's some great eating out in them thar Welsh hills.

Oh my goodness the food looks wonderful, sugar snap peas, sour dough bread, croquettes, aioli, what more could a person ask fortune, and here they come, the chips. If only we could reach into the TV and help ourselves. Another great place that lives up to your expectations.

Happy Birthday MR Cameraman. Should have made dad buy you cake also. This meal looked so different and lovely especially the croquets .I always think being outside the food could be getting cold. Gary before you leave Wales please please try some traditional Welsh cakes not the supermarket kind but real bakery. I make these occasionally using my late grandma's original recipe . Enjoy the rest of the time in Wales so enjoying seeing different tastes.

Finally found your review of this place Gary, I have been there with the family. It’s in my top ten restaurants and would happily go back. The beef croquettes and sugar snaps are amazing, my son had the 45 day aged beef burger wow, I had a sirloin which was out of this world and perfectly cooked and my wife had the fillet, again perfect and cooked rare. Only disappointment was the chimichurri everything else, 10/10. Great review BTW, worth spending an entrance to the castle too btw, just to see areas you can’t see otherwise

As everyone else has said: Happy Birthday to your son. I'm glad he had a nice birthday meal. Did you tell the restaurant staff? They usually bring a piece of cake or something for the birthday person. The food looked delicious. You didn't say much about the fries, but they looked very crispy and tasty.

The much bigger and newish Pasture in central Birmingham is outstanding and a beautiful restaurant, maybe due a visit? Also the city has some amazing food venues from cafes to Michelin starred restaurants many that are independent… Let’s give it a go!!!

There is a Pasture in Bristol near the docks. Come back and have a better experience than Za Za bizarre . We have the Main menu for birthdays sometimes , its quite dear but lovely they also do great fish dishes. Happy Birthday CM🎉 🎂❤

Happy Birthday to him! The steak was med-well, but to be fair you did leave it a while before you tucked in; a steak that size can go from med-rare to med-well in under 2 mins as I'm sure you know.

Looks great and not too pricey. Pasture wasn't there when I occasionally worked in Cardiff sadly. I'll have to try if I'm ever back in town!

It seems from your videos that Wales is blessed with excellent restaurants. If this and the last restaurant are anything to go by.
You are indeed very lucky you don't seem to be overweight. After eating all this food. Luckily you have your camera man to eat anything you don't want. We're lucky to have such a good camera man on our channel. 10/10 for the camera man 👨.

Loved this! Trying new flavours is something few are willing to do, sticking to the things they know they like. I am a bit like you - willing to try something that is presented in a new, interesting way. I would've picked both the small plates you had, simply to try how they'd assembled them. The sugarsnap peas in particular, appealed to me!

I’m 2hours down the m4 and I’ve not been in Cardiff for about four years now.and overnighters at that. I must say,the food looked beautiful and well presented on the plate. I do admit to a sudden weakness and urge to those short rib croquettes. Waw .
I have made leftover roast beef and stuffing rissoles ,kind of similar but not,the concept of it similar and it stops there haha. I am super thrilled you visited and had a great time. Thank you for sharing and glorious watching

From where I can see, I think the whole feast was great. Every dish was very well served, clean, presentable and as you said, tasty. Loved everything about it. The only thing was when the second waiter came to the table with his hands in his back pockets asking how things were going. I didn't expect that at all. A bit off putting tbh when somebody asking you that while holding his backside🤔. But, yes, a great place to eat. I think 9.5/10 is a very well deserved mark. Thanks very much Gary, a great review.

Great table of food. Noodles looked a lovely dish. Love the way Gary says “ Let’s give it a go “ as if he’s taking one for the team, makes me chuckle every time. Only disappointment you expect the steak to be cooked as requested and a peppercorn sauce….well.

I got jealous from this video. Everything looked so good. The steak was bit more than just medium in my opinion but i'm not an expert. It did look good still. The peppercorn sauce did look really good.

The meal looked great. That being said for me the real test of a great steak house is getting the cook on the steak spot on. You can't beat aged beef.

It certainly was a happy review. The croquettes may have been inspired by Dutch croquettes/kroketten. The Pasture's ones must have been much better. It all looked delicious. The Thai salad would have been my choice. Thank you for 'taking us along'. I shall put this place on my list!

Usual brilliant review. I'm putting money on you hitting 100k subscribers in July, if not before. Because you were enjoying the noodles that sirloin steak was sitting for a while before you tucked in and I'm guessing would still have quietly been cooking itself? And happy birthday to your son. My only criticism was you didn’t seem to have enough time to finish the starters before the Mains all arrived

Dear Gary, I’ve been watching for a few months and your honest approach is so satisfying. Thank you so much for coming to Wales. More often than not reviews of anywhere in Wales, be it restaurants or hotels etc starts with pretty derogatory stereotypes which centre around sheep, male voice choirs, mines etc. We’ve moved on. I love the fact that you just come to Wales because you love it and moreover treat it as just another place, if that makes sense. I love that in your previous review the landscape made such an impact. Lol, I would argue that you had a good day, it can be very impactful other days 😅. Thank you so much Gary. All the best. Its not moved on. Insufficient cash in wales to move on. Cardiff centre has , but not the valleys. Not a chance. Newport, Swansea, Bridgend, the Blackwood valley, are depressed . The Usk, Abergavenny valley has always been good but its English money. Tell me Ebbw Vale and Abertillery break stereotypes...try Ponypridd post Tom Jones.

This is by far the best steak house I’ve ever been to, go 3-4 times a year. Should have sat inside and had the tomahawk steak. It’s amazing, 10/10 restaurant

I took my wife and son there a couple of years ago. Sadly, very disappointed.
The food was lacklustre and the waitress kept disturbing us and asking "Is everything alright Guys"?
If there's one thing I hate, it's being referred to as "Guys"
If you want a far superior steak dinner then go to 'The Gatehouse' in Cwmbran.....superb food and lashings of it.

Impressive. I said you would like it, Gary. I go there as a veggie as I love the sides and desserts especially . Smoked cheesecake with milk ice cream so good. Fair review I thought. You need a strong flavour in a peppercorn sauce. Gary gave it a go!!!! Happy birthday cameraman.

If its in the top 101 steak restaurants, they really should get the cooking of the steak spot on. I personally love steak but in Dublin in particular the price has just soared over the last few years. And its amazing how many of these places cant differentiate between rare, medium rare and well done. Ok rant over lol. Great video as always Gary

Happy Birthday Mr Cameraman! Gary - I can't believe you ate some of his birthday lunch! 🤣Personally I would have scored the steak a little lower. They are ranked no.70 in the world's top steak restaurants, but couldn't cook you a medium rare steak. Something definitely went wrong there.

Many happy returns for the cameraman! Colour-wise, the steak looked a bit anemic - no griddle marks on it. The sauce also look a bit bland. I'd have gone for the glass noodle dish.
