HELLO EVERYONE! Many of you have asked for this kind of video, but I was afraid to just recycle old videos that so many faithful viewers have already seen. So I started over completely with the raw footage and spent days creating this restoration video. I wanted the work to speak for itself this time, and for the video style to be both satisfying to watch, and relaxing to listen to. I do aim to please my audience, but more importantly, the joy in restoring old furniture and creating content comes from piecing together videos that will allow you to FEEL some of the same raw emotions that I feel during these challenging projects. There are often so many discouraging moments; moments when I feel like a piece is "too far gone", and I have wasted my time. But then, there are those moments of triumph, when a plan comes together and I'm left feeling a special connection to a project that has so much historical value. One of my favorite parts of this journey has been reading so many of your own memories that you have shared with each video release. I can't thank you enough for all your support while watching these furniture restorations. Barry

I don’t think we will see any increase in respect to those old pieces and their history. These younger generations have NO respect for anything because of their parents overindulging them. And teaching them entitlement. 😔😡

I can only guess (or hope) that when these pieces were painted they did not look like what you see now. They were probably were in sad shape as far as finish is concerned and they, perhaps, didn’t have the bandwidth to refinish them.

About 2 years ago during the height of the chalk paint craze i saw a video by some type of furniture "expert" that advised people to paint their furniture, that nobody wanted to look at wood anymore. I almost fell down, because I absolutely love the look of wood grain. Chatoyancy is incredible. Well I felt so bad thinking of people destroying beautiful furniture. Thank you for bringing dignity back to these pieces.

Such wonderful comments I read n I have to agree with most of them. I’m a 73 yr. old lady who loves to refinish n restore old painted furniture. Watching your videos I’ve learn much, that I was doing somethings wrong. I appreciated every piece you did in this video n each one turned out gorgeous.
To see the different types of wood to😢😮nes for example the small sideboard/Buffett. I was just blown away, period! You n I think much alike when you think about all the stories a piece of furniture could tell if it could talk. That waterfall hope chest, another great beauty.
All in all you did an amazing job on each one. You gave them the respect they deserved. I do hope you will do more of these type of videos.

I enjoyed this revisit because it just proves that paint is temporal and can be reversed. I never would criticize someone's aesthetics to paint a piece if it brings them pleasure in the environment the furniture exits in. You take great care to restore the wood to be appreciated again, and I do enjoy seeing the steps to awaken the furniture back to how it was intended to be.

I refinish furniture and I can’t bring myself to paint and “distress” some pieces of “history” and beautiful wood. I, nicely, refer the client to another person who will paint and hit the wood with a chain and sand off some of the edges. Keep up the wonderful work that you do.

Your time, talent, tools and skill come together restoring these great pieces of furniture for another generation to enjoy. Many years ago I almost gave in to the trend of "antique" finish paint on furniture that my parents purchased for me in the 1950's. In the end I kept the original finish. My son and his kids are using it now.

"It's both peaceful and interesting when you talk about your renovation projects. (You have a fantastic relaxed voice to listen to.) One never ceases to be amazed by the various styles that have come and gone, and the different colors the furniture has been painted with. I imagine many may have painted them over because it was cheaper than buying something new. And in a way, it shows a history of what the furniture has been through. And that too is interesting. But when the furniture comes to you, they are taken care of and restored. Thank you for sharing what you do. Jessica from Sweden."

Likely it was sad, dull, scratched. Only 30 or 40 years old, so not antique, just something someone had in their garage. The baby was due in a few months and they wanted the nursery to look bright and cheery, they had a zero dollar budget, but thought if they painted the dresser and sewed some curtains, it would look clean and pretty. Thats why. Now, a new phase is happening, and that is good, too. The person who painted it wasnt stupid, they were poor, or broke, and doing their best.❤

Hey Barry. I haven't commented in a very long time, but I'm still around and NEVER miss watching your videos. I love them all. The Spray Can Miracle was one of my all time favorite projects and I remember gushing over it in my comments on the original video. I loved that you took a rustic approach to the refinishing, leaving the broken veneer, dings, dents and bits of blue paint. The best part is we get to enjoy seeing it in your shop. I'm still in love with the color variations of the different wood species. It has that "coat of many colors" kind of vibe. lol

You are my most favorite restorer! It's therapeutic watching your process, and I love the music, don't ever change it! I normally refinish one or two pieces of furniture a year, but this year, I did 15, of varying sizes!!! I moved to a new house, and very few of my pieces looked great in it. Instead of spending money for new stuff, I went in a whirlwind of refinishing and sometimes painting. I have no idea HOW I managed it, but I did! I love to revive old, solid wood pieces, and I've done some "monsters" too lol! Saved a few from the dump also. I love your channel, because you inspire me!

I'm thrilled to think of 30 projects! I'm so glad to have your videos to watch. Your respect for the history of each piece is comforting o see in such a young man. The times I've seen you struggle with a piece it seems to make the project more of a challenge and it always looks so much more beautiful than I could have imagined it could. See you soon!

Hi from Cambridge UK. You have the eye and vision of an artist, the hands of a true craftsman and the patience of a saint. I cannot understand why people paint this lovely furniture. You have brought them back to life and beauty. If these furniture pieces have hearts, they will be singing when you finish them.

Barry... Every one of these turned out gorgeous. I love seeing the softened paint being scraped off... I did so much of that in my life and I always felt it as so satisfying to see natural wood emerge as the paint came off. I am very familiar with this style of Vintage furniture as I was surrounded by such pieces growing up here on Vancouver Island. My Grandma had a bedroom set in a similar design. So many people painted over such gorgeous wood over the years... I really love this piece and so glad you decided to share this yellow one.
