I have probably already said this a few times before, but it's worth repeating, these Todd Manning videos are awesome!! Thank you so much!! Long live Todd Manning!!
I remember my mom saying she hated these scenes with Todd and Marty...I couldn't figure out why because I thought the acting was great but now I understand she meant that these scenes were not realistic of a rapist and his victim.
Marty & Todd fascinate me. During Todd's 1st marriage 2 Blair Marty was at his elbow. I think b/c she was twisted over the fact that Todd treated this wealthy heiress like some low rent trash bag yet he treated Blair like gold a girl who grew up in foster care & didn't have Marty's pedigree. I think she was upset & thought of all people Todd elevated Blair to queen of his world. Todd hates seeing Marty fall apart b/c he has such a tortured guilt I think he wanted her to be happy
I love the scenes between Todd and Vicky's different personalities, especially how Vicky's facial expressions and voice changes dead smack in the middle of their conversation. Todd sets her off with questions about their father, then departs from Landfair with a bunch of wisecracks about how crazy she is.
One of my favorite Todd & Marty scene, who I'm I kidding all of Todd & Marty scenes are my favorite...lol Roger and Susan just had incredible chemistry every time they shared the screen together....
She's definitely attracted to him as well as he is attracted to her.... But what he did to her has changed the dynamic forever. What's cool about these scenes is you can tell Marty is no longer afraid of Todd, she's joking around and teasing with him in a way she never would have done previously and her anger level is way down from where it was...
Exactly. And it wasn't like he just apologized verbally. He went through hell and did all the work. He suffered and he was punished so since she said she forgave him, She should actually do that.
The writers always played on Todd's fascination with Marty. He always had a sense of attraction to her that predated the rape. He was always cruelest to the women in his life that he had feelings for - Blair and Tea clearly - but obviously there's no one on planet Earth he hurt worse than Marty. It speaks to his character of trying to wrestle his sadistic tendencies with his more human like ones as the show goes on over the years. That's why I wasn't surprised when they had TSJ's Todd kidnap Marty and tried to make her fall in love with him - just one more strange manifestation of his complex feelings that he had since he met Marty. Even Blair his supposed 'one true love" (although Tea was a better match for him) always acted weirdly jealous of Marty because I think even she knew that Todd and Marty's connection wasn't that far off between herself and Todd. Think of all the the horrific things he did to Blair - had he met her first instead of Marty whose to say Blair wouldn't have been the one Todd attacked and gang raped instead? Under the surface that same twisted soul always lurked- he just made different choices after he had Starr to act on his better nature. I'm rambling lol but I think I just wanted to comment on how people seemed so shock that they went there in that story line multiple times between Todd and Marty - and yet it made perfect sense to me. Their connection was both twisted and sick and equally deep and powerful. And added to the fact that Todd had been in love with her and couldn't express it in a healthy way - they were chained together whether they wanted to be or not. It all comes down to the singular truth that Todd was at his cruelest towards the women he was in love with - always. Clearly this wasn't anymore realistic of a story-line than that of Luke and Laura's but then again this is why it's a soap opera. Soaps are the last place to look for realism no matter what the story-line may be lol
Love this comment. Todd could be loving to the women in his life but he could also be horrible to them. Marty got the worst of it but Blair wasn't far behind and that decking of Tea was disgusting, too.
@@debb481 Yeah it's why Todd has always been an all time character for me, especially RH's portrayal of him. He could be sinister, deeply damaged, funny and caring all at once. Along with Tony Geary's Luke Spencer who may have been the finest actor in all of soaps - we got to understand the layers of their characters just by watching them over time. I always found it really profound that in both OLTL and GH Blair and Laura loved those men not because they only saw the good, but knew the whole person and had the ability to love them anyway - which mirrors what we as the audience feels as well.
I love it when Todd brings up how he isn't "the same dumb jock I used to be" and how "I've changed" unlike Marty who "fell apart when that dumb jock wouldn't spend the night with you to keep away the boogieman" (reminding her that she wanted him to stay, and saying that she hadn't changed). Then, when she starts telling him what she thinks of him all of the sudden it's, "Alright, look I'm sorry that I pressed the rewind button. Look, let's just pretend that I never even came here, alright."
If the writers loved them (SH and RH) so much, they never should have done that rape storyline. It was brutal and despicable. In fact the whole redemption arc is stupid! The only reason the audience fell in love with Todd was because of the actor playing him. It was Not just because of good looks but because of his sympathetic portrayal. And of course his sad expressive eyes helped. But the whole thing is ridiculous. I don't think any woman in a million years would give any sex offender a second chance. Ever.
Actually it has happened in real life before. There have been mothers who forgave murderers who killed their child. Forgiveness is a powerful thing. I thought the storyline was excellent because it explored all kinds of issues related to rape. And I also liked the redemption part of the story, agreed it's extremely rare but sometimes people do things they're deeply genuinely sorry for and try to make up for that. It's part of being human.
This is also one of my favorite Todd-Marty scenes ever,Marty drunk on her ass loves calling it like it is,and Todd has never been afraid to do so either.Incredible acting, incredible chemistryThis is how they should have stayed, because after this they started to push them a little too close together,IMO.
Good seeing but Marty is annoying. She asks him how would he like it if someone threw his past in his face all the time, That one actually made me laugh because she threw it in his face at least five times during this one conversation! She said she was sorry she had forgiven him but didn't sound like she forgave him at all
Some on here make a claim that Todd was constantly seeking out Marty let's go through what really happened After the belt scene and in the alley behind Rodi's where Todd attacked Marty another time. Wasn't it Marty who went after him to give him advice? When Blair lost the baby wasn't it Marty who went to tell Todd? Then didn't Marty stop at the docks when she spotted Todd's car there and wasn't she alone? There were other times too like the Sunroom at the Hospital after Todd found out Blair lied to him... Come on people you are only seeing what you want to that Todd was the one stalking Marty! The writers screwed it up not the actors they were doing what they did the best acting going by what the writers' storylines were, geez... it's a soap sometimes well it all gets twisted around... jsyk
Marty had a very strong attraction to Todd even after the rape. Once he started to change and apologized, that is. I know this is an unpopular opinion but if you go back to some of the scenes, particularly when she was comforting him after his break up with Blair and He was working at the hospital, she leaned back against the hospital door and closed her eyes in a way that showed a lot of feeling towards Todd. She still had hostility towards him understandably but she had feelings for him that she just couldn't acknowledge for lots of reasons. Really interesting storyline
Marty was always a self pitying party....she latched on to Todd like she always did...him saving her had nothing to do with love...he's always come to her rescue...the rape thing cancels a sexual relationship that would have decimated their little bond...she hates Todd because her white knight was the one that hurt her...so sad...
Marty had reason to be self pitying and she wasn't bothering anyone TODD made it his business yet again to come to Marty's rescue. How is Todd her "white knight"? She loathes him!
@@amynyc419No she doesn't. She really doesn't and that's part of what she wrestles with. She wants to hate him but she really can't. And her comments that he hasn't changed are completely untrue. He has totally changed. The old Todd certainly wouldn't have reacted the way he did when she was throwing it all these accusations and insults at him.
I love when he brings up the scar as a constant reminder of who he is--the guy calling himself Todd doesn't have a scar.....hmmm what does that tell me?
Wow I was stunned when todd said when r u gonna stop asling for it? He immediately said he didn't mean it that way. I think he was referring to marfy being destructive drinking to the point he found her passed out in an alley way. I will never ever condone gang rape but in hs our teacher showed us the gang rape & did warn us ( all girls catholic school school)
These were very compelling scenes that I have watched many times. Marty & todd & their saga rocked daytime like no other story. It literally was talked about til the show ended. U can see malone so wanted them to become lovers . He literally was writing it til susan & roger said never. It was not like & laura it was a gang rape. Notice the other two rapists started not getting mentioned so it was just a one on one encounter. Malone wrote amazing but he was very obsessed with sexual violence . Viki getting raped by her father literally was right after the frat house gang rape then powell raping nurses.
Um tina irene raused u until u were 15. She knows irene as much if not nore than viki. Plus tina was like 8 & didn't notice her mom wss pregnant w/ todd? Its worth it but these were bad plot holes. Plus why didnt irene just threaten to expose victor & get a boatload of chold support so she could keep todd too. Wasbt there another plot point that irene married victor b4 dorian & after tina? Maybe after todd was adopted out which ill never get. I wont touch the waxked out writing that irene was some evil cia agent that had a twin hidden for 30 years again tina didnt notice. Plus how could he be victor lord junior when victor didn't sign a birth cert. She could nane him victor but not jr.

They (Todd and Marty) have such fantastic chemistry.
Yes they do!! A thin line between "love and hate"!!!

She says she's forgiven him, but when you realy forgive someone, you don't throw what you've forgiven them for back in their face.

There was never supposed to be a redemption arc in the beginning. RH's contract was only a few days long.
