Yo Capcom trolled everyone by showing the dog was dead in the demo xD
I think I know why they made it show up as dead. You are limited to the village fight, so you won't meet El Gigante. Therefore, the dog serves no purpose in the demo. That's why Capcom killed the dog in the demo.

RE got zombie dogs since the first game so I can understand why
I almost shot him not bc i hate dogs but i afraid it was just some zombie dog which we encountered a lot in the previous series, but then i heard he was moaning in pain that i knew he was injured or smth then i saved him.
I was playing the VR Version and I didn’t know I could shoot the dog, I shot the bear trap for fun and yeah the game thought I shot the dog

@@princealbertz It is actually a reference to Hewie, good catch! Haunting Ground is based off of one of RE4's early scripts, so they both roughly reference each other/both use an unknown amount of the same assets

I don't think it is true, because there is no direct correlation between the act and in the books of shooting a dog in Resident Evil 4 and hell. Infact, I don't think there is a Christian belief that says shooting a dog in a video game will make you go to hell. The events in the video game Resident Evil 4 is not what actually happened in the real world.
Also, the act of shooting a dog in Resident Evil 4 from the “books” is not real. It is just a video game so therefor your actually killing a “wolf” instead of dogs. However, shooting them can bring you bad karma, so there is no hell spot in the series. Video games are entertainment, just like watching movies, reading books, or playing sports. They don't reflect the truth or actually happen in real world.

I'm convinced that the dog goes on to be infected by the plagas. Later the quest to fight the strong foe, that infected dog is literally on the other side of the gate and runs to the village, plus you never see another white infected dog in the whole game.

I vaguely remember there being a theory that this dog was originally in haunting grounds (a very underrated game from capcom made from ashes of re4 og and same mechanics as clock tower 3) the dog's name was hewie and was one of the best virtual pets I've ever known.

I'm no dog person but a dog getting shot hurts me. Even though I have a Blue Macaw as a companion. I still can't see other animals that can be domesticated getting shot at. Heck even some wild animals getting shot still bothers me a bit. Unless of course that animal is trying to kill you.
