    I think this might be the best overview i've seen so far on WhiskyTube. Great picks.

      Thank you buddy, I am assuming this is the only one you have seen so far? 😂 I should have got Peater the Whale to give his thoughts to!

      Thanks Mitch, it was pretty unscripted ramble and when editing I did think some of my choices was good and the others... not so much. Lets see what the OSWAs brings! Enjoy Voting!

    My money is also on a non-peated Islay ;) it is a banger of a whisky.

      I wonder what bottle that is you are talking about ;) We will find out soon! Cheers Neil!

    Solid picks Jeff, you could be right on the money with this list. Let's see how this plays out.

    • @JeffWhisky

      Cheers mate, I think from looking at it further while editing, a couple of changes could be made but there is very few duds out of all the bottles. Not long now to find out! Cheers.

    Seriously? Have you tried Chivas Regal 18 lately. It’s a very good whisky!

    • @JeffWhisky
      @JeffWhisky  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Jan, good to have you here. I have had a couple of samples of it with one being about 4 months back and why I enjoyed it, I wasn't blown away. I am a big fan of the 12 so for me it didn't feel worth the price increase. Will it be your vote for best blend? Cheers

    Nice one Jeff! But I still pick Arran 10 for best value whiskey. I lined all of these bad boys up and tasted them against each other. Every dram was very good, and you can't beat the price for almost every one of them. But peat isn't the beat I roll to on the street, so Arran 10 won. What can I say,? I like the fruity, honeyed deliciousness of the Arran 10. I can respect your opinion, even if you spell your name wrong. Cheers!

    • @JeffWhisky
      @JeffWhisky  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "peat isn't the beat I roll to on the street" needs to be a lyric in a whisky song. GWhisky also has let me know my Jeff is wrong I think it matches my bit backwards channel, great to have you here Other Geoff, cheers.

    I’d have liked to see a bit more variation in the nomination this year, so I hope there’s some in the winners. It’s a bit repetitive and while I get it there’s almost a bias forming, more whisky is produced now than ever before there’s surely got to be some different gems worth celebrating year on year. I think ledaig is overhyped, it’s nice 10:36 but I don’t reach for it very often. I think people love Michael Henry’s experimental side so Loch Lomond and GS get voted for more than the liquid deserves. It’s good just not something I reach for. Springbank is over hyped, the hype they deserve, it’s in my top 5 all time for sure but does it deserve awards when it can’t stock the shelves? I’m not sure. I’d like to see the votes acknowledge the ‘non obvious choices’, the distilleries just making great whisky without the hype. I’m really pleased to benromach there, I think it’s exceptional stuff. I think Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte should be up there too.

      Cheers for the comment Andy, some really good points here. I am hoping in the public vote that more non obvious choices appear, think the more common bottles make it through the contributor voting stage because more people have experienced it. What distilleries would you suggest that make great stuff without the hype? Cheers

      @@JeffWhisky I’m learning all the time but from the world stage Michters Rye and Mackmyra have been noteworthy for me. Glen moray have some great whiskies out and plenty of variation. Tamdhu and edradour are fantastic. I haven’t enjoyed Tomatin that much but love some cu bocan. For IB’s, I recommend you give uncharted a try, flavour bombs and I challenge you to find a better looking bottle. Benromach is ace. I expect my collection is a little smaller than most contributors and I just wondered why there aren’t more totally new bottles, or rather, why there are so many repeat appearances. I’d hate to think I know all the good stuff already.

    The real question is what will win the community picks?

    • @JeffWhisky
      @JeffWhisky  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think there is a lot of great whiskies missed out this year with some confusing ones in their place. Sure the community picks will pull through some bangers! Any of your community picks you want to share?

    • @TimHoekstra
      @TimHoekstra ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JeffWhisky Whisky has been on the backburner for me this year due to circumstances, so I figured I shouldn't vote on community picks as my intake has been low this year.

    I think Port charlotte 10 won OSWA.s best scotch 2022?

    • @JeffWhisky
      @JeffWhisky  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I had to quickly check as normally would assume I made a mistake but they have it archived as Glen Scotia. I certainly would have picked Port Charlotte 10 over that though! Cheers

  • @WhiskyWars
    @WhiskyWars ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m certainly interested to see what the community is feeling this year, there’s a few new whiskies and distilleries that I have to admit, I’ve just not heard about! Alas, the whisky journey never ends 😂

    • @JeffWhisky
      @JeffWhisky  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the public vote is always the most interesting part. The journey, never stops and neither does the shopping list! Cheers.

    This year was a little disappointing with some of the picks, Ledaig 18 with spring bank10 kind of odd 15 year old spring bank would of been more fair but I’m sure the people couldn’t get their hands on it.

    • @JeffWhisky
      @JeffWhisky  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay in responding Arnold, YT makes it as responded too keenly! I think you are right with more people being able to grab the 10 over the 15, however I will say, in my experience I much preferred the 10 year old, the 15 for me was too cask influenced. Would Springbank 15 be your Scotch of the year? Cheers
