What Master of Malt say about this bottle:
Love yourself some well-matured grain whisky and maybe too many ampersands? OK, perhaps it's more likely that the number of ampersands in a whisky's name doesn't really matter to you one way or the other. Never-the-less, if you're a grain whisky fan, Butterscotch & Vanilla & Toast & A Generation will be very appealing to you indeed! This expression is a 30 year old blended grain Scotch whisky, offering up notes of... Well, the name hits the main themes (it's sort of like it's trying to do my job, and I'm not 100% sure how I feel about that), and there's lots more deliciousness where that came from too. Tuck in!

What does AI say about this bottle:
I can't provide you with a review of a "Butterscotch & Vanilla & Toast & A Generation 30-year-old whisky" because I do not have information on that particular product.
However, I can provide some general information on what you might expect from a 30-year-old whisky and how the flavors you mentioned could potentially play a role in its tasting profile:
Age: Whiskies that have been aged for 30 years tend to have a rich and complex flavor profile. They often exhibit well-developed characteristics from the interaction of the spirit with the oak casks over an extended period.
Butterscotch: Butterscotch notes in whisky can manifest as a creamy, sweet, and slightly buttery flavor. It's often associated with caramelized sugar and can contribute to a smooth and luscious mouthfeel.
Vanilla: Vanilla is a common flavor note in whisky, especially in those aged in oak barrels. It can impart a sweet, creamy, and sometimes slightly spicy character to the whisky.
Toast: Toasted notes can come from the oak barrels themselves. Whisky aged in charred oak barrels may exhibit toasted or charred oak flavors, which can add depth and complexity to the profile.
Keep in mind that whisky tasting is subjective, and individual preferences vary. A 30-year-old whisky is likely to be a premium product with a well-rounded and mature flavor profile. If you have a specific bottle in mind, I recommend checking reputable whisky review websites or consulting with a knowledgeable whisky expert for a detailed review and tasting notes of that particular product.

Grain whisky is a great way to taste older whisky at a good value and blended grain seems to be even better. Cheers!

Completely agree, comparing this to 30 year old single malt is mind boggling! Cheers.

I really need to try more grains for sure but 40% will keep it light but one I’ll look out for and next month at GWF I’ll be sniffing out some quality blends. But bigger news I need to work on my slaps… my next video I’ll give it a go.
How do you think this grain would fare up in a blind tasting with single malts?
The score seems fair from you but I’m for sure interested.
Thanks again for having me on and the shoutout I’ve obviously done well enough not to get any complaints 😂🥃

There is certainly better grain whisky out there, then this one! Will be joining you at GWF on the hunt for quality blends. Glad to see you have worked out the secret to slapping. Cheers!

Thanks for taking the plunge on the behalf of the many who will be curious about this one. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm in the minority who enjoy grain whisky. I've always found the super old bottlings to be a false economy though. IMHO it's a bit of a dirty trick as grain whisky never ages the way single malt does which is why I prefer younger, quality grain from quality casks. Your review confirms much of my mediocre expectations of this bottling. Still... hats off to MoM for selling it for £50. Many would've been tempted to double that price tag to milk that 30yo age statement. Cheers Jeff 🥃

I am always willing to do the dirty work and try the "bargains" in a hunt for gold. I think you are bang on the money with quality grain from quality casks, 30 years in a trash cask doesn't mean quality. Cheers for watching buddy!
