I've had mine for a little over two months now and I can honestly say the hype with it hasn't died off for me. I was bored of my PS5 within a few days if I'm honest but the steam deck, my god. I'm still playing it every single day. It's just perfect for bed time or sitting on the couch so you can still socialise and play your games at the same time
@@cryptolord9826 You prefer spending £70 a game on a system that in total cost you more than a better spec PC set up? It’s your money but you got mugged.
@YumYum Understandable for you to think that, but fortunately you do notice that once you grow up poor and then get yourself a good job, when you can afford luxuries you get them. It's fine to treat yourself when you can! Don't make assumptions my guy, some people just prioritise other things :)
This has become my new go to portable console. My wife pretty much adopted my switch which was already collecting dust for a while. So my free time is spent between the PS5 and the Steam Deck. It truly is a great time to be a gamer.
I have had mine now for about 2 weeks (as of this post).... and I cannot put it down. I am so amazed by this. Hats off to Valve and AMD for putting together the right balance of processing power, resolution, etc etc to play some of the most demanding desktop games in a handheld form factor. This is not just remarkable, it is game changing (pardon the pun).
@@diegorieger1309 honestly, the steam deck is great, but it does require a bit of effort if you want to get the most potential out of it. I love mine, but it’s not for everybody. But if you don’t mind the effort. The payoff is great. But if that doesn’t appeal to you, maybe just update your pc
@@diegorieger1309 This was the way I looked at it before I bought one.... Do I like playing PC? Yes Do I like playing games portably like on my Switch? Yes Do I get annoyed by Switch games prices and or lack of games? Yes Do I wish I could take my PC games with me without having to lug around my PC and or a laptop? Yes If you're in the same category then get a Steam Deck!
@Diego Rieger Do you prefer to play pc games on your pc? Or do you want to play it portably? I have a pc, a switch and a ps5 and i thought i dont need a steamdeck but my wife bought 1 forme as a surprise gift. And its awesome. I could game anywhere for 10 minutes and continue again whenever i want. I could game next to my wife while she's scrolling in fb. Its a life changing piece of tech for me and i love it.
Dude. In Doom or Halo (or games like them) Go to: Controller Settings > Edit Layout > Gyro > Gyro Behavior > As Mouse > Settings > Gyro > Gyro Enable Button > Right Stick or Right Pad Touch. With this, when your thumb rests on the stick or pad, rotating the deck in your hands will aim. So you'll have the familiar fast response stick to look around but MUCH more precise aiming on top of that. Tilting the device to aim is incredibly intuitive and has a fast learning curve to reach near-mouse precision, (The caveat is it's not so good if you're in a moving vehicle). You can put it in stick mode too if the game doesn’t support mouse input. I'm kind of obsessed with how well it works, I even dusted off my steam controller for this feature as well. I'll never buy another game pad for steam games without a gyro (PS controllers have it too). Don't overlook this amazing game-changing feature!
I have a beast of a PC with a 3090 and the first thing i pick up is my steam deck when I’m home. It just great to relax anywhere in the house whilst playing PC games and i spend more time with my family than being glued to my desk. It a great device.
@@emailiamilia1843 That's not the point though is it? I said in my statement not being glued to my desk, rather than being able to play PC games whilst socialising with others.
The steam deck is honestly amazing. Before, being able to play all these games on the go with decent quality was just a dream. I have tried streaming games to my phone via steam link but you have to keep your pc open and there's always that ever so slightly noticeable input lag. The steam deck made that dream a reality. And its super worth it especially for the price. Currently playing God of War on it and its just superb. My only gripe about the SD is the battery life but for what you pay for, I can easily overlook this. You can also carry a power bank around. All in all, I think the SD is probably the best portable handheld gaming that's come out so far.
Its a Switch Killer!!! I've had mine for 3 weeks. This thing blows my mind!! 1 minute I'm remote playing my Xbox on it (Assassins Creed Valhalla), The next I'm streaming gamepass games (Halo), then I boot up my SWITCH games on it (Mario Odyssey), then I'm booting up Sega Genesis and NES systems, then watching netflix and other streaming services And finally I remember oh yeah. I have AAA PC Titles on the Steam store I can run on this, which is what it was meant for LOL. Meanwhile the Switch never even gave us Themes. The Deck already does this with Decky. This thing is just insane. Wish I had this when I was a kid but better late then never.
By countless hours of research this seems like the best "affordable" handheld emulation machine. I'm in the middle of a move right now so have to be very smart with my money, but once I've settled in and got my bills covered, I'm getting myself this bad boy! I cannot wait either. It's honestly a bargain for 400 dollars for what you get
Especially if you already have a library of games on Steam. I think it's understated how much of a benefit it is to just... HAVE games ready to play, no additional purchasing.
I love mine. It's completely replaced my fairly powerful desktop. The ability to play a vast majority of my library on a handheld isa true revelation. My only major gripe mostly has to deal with text being very small and hard to read. Also I just typed this message from my Steam Deck in Firefox with Yakuza 0 running in the background.
I played roughly 100 hours of Days Gone on my Steam Deck from of a 1TB SD card. Then I played the next ~5 hours from my PC. It was synced perfectly. I started right where I left off on the Deck. Neither platform lagged. They both looked the same on my monitor, good. I played through my iVoler dock with a Xbox controller connected through Bluetooth. I have a small Bluetooth keyboard and a wireless mouse connected. I was hoping to love it and I do. It is truly a PC.
Nice video. Being a 64-gb steam deck owner myself, I am playing it for 1 hour or so daily and much more on weekends. I have small hands but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it, it fits perfectly in my hands. The thumbsticks and buttons placement are perfect. Most importantly, the weight distribution of the deck is very even, you won't feel heavier on one hand and lighter on the other hand, so Valve really nailed it on this one. On top of that, I was able to get a 1TB M.2 2230 SSD at a reasonable price and replaced it myself.
@@fluffypotato7475 I got a WD PC SN530 1TB from a Chinese website. I am not sure of the condition but so far it is still working well for me, about USD 100, what more can I ask for
I've been opening voice chat through steam friends to play various games like valheim and raft with them. I was surprised by how feature complete this system feels. I'm a linux user and haven't touched windows since 2012 so I can say from experience that the software functionality and support is spectacular. I've managed to get dozens of "unverified" games running, and even third party games like FFXIV with XIVLauncher through lutris (there is even an easy option to add a lutris game to steam). I also grabbed an nreal air from a suggestion by another youtube video, and it adds a good 30-45 minutes of playtime if you can put up with glasses. The audio automatically switches to the glasses speakers which is even more immersive for many games. The steam deck is something I wish existed 10 years ago, but I'm happy to support Valve as long as they keep supporting system development like this.
What truly excites me about the Deck is its massive potential, like for a geek I tell you the deck has the possibility of being everything tech in a portable form. The idea of a console might be unnecessary in the future.
specially if you upgrade the ssd you can upgrade to 2 tb which valve does not offer if you like or 1tb for the cost of a 512 gb steam deck if you buy the 64 and upgrade it to 1tb
@@koolerpure ahah good problem to have! I also had the same. I recommend spending some time organizing your games in collections that make sense to you
In a way it’s almost not a first gen product. There was the Steam Box that helped them nail the hardware and the software and the Steam Controller that was the first gen of the controls here. Both left some things to be desired, so I’m really glad to see it coming together for the SD so well. I’m hoping that if they come out with an SD2 that they provide a way for us to update the original with newer parts since it’s so nicely modular and repairable.
Just got my hands on one for the holidays and let me tell you... Believe The Hype‼️ A great machine that is perfect for an entry level computer gamer or an experienced PC gamer looking for another option that is portable. Beauty is that with some creativity it does so much since you essentially have a full fledged PC in a Nintendo Switch form factor. They did a great job on this one. 👍
Great video Steve! Loved the shots you used and it's fun hearing your thoughts on the Deck and how much you have been enjoying it! One small thing to note is at 13:59 if a game does state "not supported" that actually does not instantly mean that it will not work on the deck! I have had a few games on my library including Fall guys, Flatout Ultimate Carnage, and Elite Sniper 5 all working on the steam deck with little to no effort! Some will involve installing a free "patch" using the desktop mode to bypass the anti cheat locks and others will actually just involve installing the game, open it, and choose single player mode and it works lol It's super crazy how much you can actually tinker on with the steam deck and the community has been a breath of fresh air seeing all the mods and improvement already being made. it's absolutely amazing!
A better way to check Compatibility is ProtonDB. Not only lists what will and wont work and how well it will do so, people have directions on how they got it to work. Or at minimum what problems they had that didn't keep them from playing in the long run.
Watched about five minutes of this video and went ahead and ordered one. I think I'll be coming back to this video repeatedly while waiting for it it arrive. Very informative!
I was so impressed I wiped Windows on my main AMD rig and installed Nobara Linux, just set deck mode in Steam and upped the resolution. It's been great.
I've had my SD since July and it's been pretty dope so far. I'm mostly a console player so being able to grab my SD and play console quality games on the go is unreal to me. I take this thing basically any where I know I'm gonna be waiting around for extended periods of time (play it all the time at work on my breaks), and I've yet to have any issues with the battery that a decent power bank can't solve. My go to games atm are Vampire Survivors (this game is straight up crack lol), The Dead Islands games, Dead Rising, Skater XL, and Grim Dawn. They all play flawlessly for the most part with some tinkering of the settings. I'm also pretty excited to start messing around with some emulators once I get around to it soon, the possibilities for this thing are endless honestly.
Due to my job i dont have any energy when i get home i like to just wind down in my bed and watch youtube so i find myself never wanting to play games throughout the week, and if i do im playing switch while i watch youtube or tv. This is perfect for me i ordered mine yesterday and im excited to play some AAA titles while relaxing.
How is the experience playing aaa titles? As I understand, some are ment to be played on the steam deck and work better then other aaa titles not designed to be on the steam deck. My question is, how are the games that are not ment to be played on the steam deck preforming. And how’s emulation?
I have just brought one myself and should be arriving on Wednesday. I can't wait to see what everyone is hyped up about with this machine and to get gaming some brilliant steam games on it
Seeing your able to play doom with no noticeable lag is awesome and has convinced me to buy it. I don’t have a steam account, but I’m mainly looking to only emulate games anyway. Recently got a nice dose of nostalgia when my fiancé borrowed her family’s Wii U and games to show me what she used to play. Turned out they had mortal kombat Armageddon for it, which I didn’t even know was on the wii. Terrible controls with the nunchucks so I bought a controller, of course I bought the wrong one (it worked for some games but not the Wii games) but it was only 25$ so no biggie. Turns out, I’m supposed to buy this wired controller that plugs into the nunchuck, only costs 10$ and got here same day from Amazon. Pulled a all nighter playing the story mode and loved every bit of it. Haven’t had that much fun gaming (non multiplayer games) since doom 2016 dropped. Definitely buying this to play the other mk games and whatever game I want, for free too, can’t wait
I find the Switch quite a bit more comfortable to hold than the Deck. I get mild cramps after 30-60 minutes with the Deck but I can play Switch or Switch Lite for hours at a time without issue. It seems to vary by person. It probably has something to do with exactly the way you grip it. Maybe a tight grip works better with heavy+handles and a light touch is better suited for light+thin? I’m not aware of any research anyone has done so it’s all just a guess for now.
More recent GPU architectures can do more with the same amount of floating point calculations. So, the 1.6 TFs of the Deck are definitely more capable than both the PS4 and the Xbox One. Those had major CPU limitations too.
As a non PC gamer the affordability of the Steam Deck is the biggest thing going for it. A great entry point to just check out what PC gaming is about and whether I should make it my primary platform in the future.
@@NvanRoblox it's started, Halloween fest, runs until November 1st. The same is actually quite disappointing to be honest. I was hoping for dead space and left for dead as a gift for someone bit neither are on sale.
Great video. I did the same, reserved the 256gb model thinking it would come in around Christmas and it arrived 3 weeks ago. I’m still saving it for Christmas though when I have some time off and can spend some time with it.
Opportunity, position, time, frequency, remiding how to continue the game, waiting for loading…I concluded all these factors to play a console game with an expression "boot cost". Sitting in front of a TV to play PS5 is the behavior of extremely high boot cost for a middle-aged, merried man. But turning on steam deck, wow, it's as easy as drinking ice-cold coke in a work break, relaxing and low cost. That's why I love deck so much.
My top four to do with Steam Deck: 1. Install ProtonUp-Qt for new GE-Protons 2. Use Higher rendering resolutions (under Properties) 3. Install emulator(s) 4. Get a Dock.
bought the 64g,, bought an internal 1tb ssd size (2230) for 140… popped out the 64g ssd and popped the 1tb in, re-installed steam os with a type c flash stick.. took about 10 minutes to replace ssd and install the os.. then i bought a 512g micro sd card for 50$ (thats all the store had)(i wanted a 1tb sd)now i have 1.5tb steam deck that cost me 600 total. same upgrades to the 512 model will make you spend almost 900$
Great video thanks Steve. Nice to see a fellow Destiny 2 player too ;) really hope they find a solution for getting Battle Eye working to allow it to run natively. Or maybe the windows version if/when a fully functional boot swap becomes available
I’ve been gaming since 1978 and I have to say this is best system I’ve owned. I can play Halo infinite and Overwatch 2 at 60fps then jump into Half Life 2 all on the go. Love the customisation and emulators. It’s so cheap too. Gaming heaven.
This is a truly revolutionary product. It looks great in handheld, can run a huge variety of games. The input controls and community layouts make game compatibility nice. The fact its a linux computer allows for modification which is the biggest thing. Any game it can't run, I can stream from my main desktop PC at 60fps over the internet. It's essentially made my desktop rig at home completely portable as long as I have a stable internet connection.
Great video! Make sure to learn about the rule of the Golden 40 as soon as possible, as this will bring your Steam Deck experience to the next level. I noticed that you're using this framerate goal for Hellblade already. I tried to explain this phenomenon with the Golden 40 video on my channel, so feel free to give it a shot - but others did this as well. Also I noticed at 9:55 that you have FSR always enabled in the quick menu - this doesn't do anything until you utilize resolutions lower than 800p.
Another thing to keep in mind is games starting to adopt upscaling technology like FSR. This is a huge win for portable gaming. The visual impact of upscaling won't be as noticeable on a small screen and the performance boosts are great.
it shows how exciting Linux is getting at gaming as the further steam gets with windows game compatibility soon people won't have to use shitty windows anymore if they don't want to use a microsoft account🤣
This really is a nice machine, and makes me feel like I have a Nintendo Switch Pro. I mainly use the Linux side to make modifications to games as I would on PC. Each game has certain ways to make modifications, where I either had to add executables as a non-steam app, or I had to open up Konsole and do Protontricks to open mod patchers. Thankfully there's guides for that kind of stuff. It's a learning experience using this, but I'm glad I have it. Definitely worth the money. Now I can go continue playing all my JRPGs and VNs in the comfort of my bed.
The Dpad could be better, and I wish it had another USB-C maybe one in the middle on the top and one in the middle on the bottom. I also wish it was smaller, like I hardly used the trackpads and could probably live without it if Valve want to release a Steam Deck Lite. I do like having the DPAD and buttons where they are at though, its just more ergonomic.
I been playing portable gaming since the 1980's even years before the Gameboy came out but I must say the Gameboy, Gameboy Color are two of the most comfortable portable gaming devices I still use to this day. And also the original Gameboy Advance (that was almost like a SNES controller) Never have my hands got tired or cramped up. The PSP, PS Vita, DS, DS Lite, DSi XL, 3ds, Switch all cramp up on me bad. Only reason I'm hesitant with Steam Deck is the cramping. I'm 6'3 with big hands too. The one thing about the Steam Deck I'm thinking would be better is it's a lot thicker than the Switch plus the old Sega Game Gear never gave me a problem at all. It was wide but thick plastic. But yeah even nowdays sometimes I just take the Gameboy with me traveling over the Switch. Better games optimized for on the go, longer battery life and comfort.
Bro I can't wait to get myself this sometime next year! It's amazing how these handheld devices are getting the spotlight and the right time for me as I started doing vanlife since last year in my Honda CRV. Handheld devices are my only option lol.
Absolutely agreed on the Deck bringing to the forefront games that have languished in my backlog that just didn't feel right to play at my desk or on the TV over Steam Link.
As a guy with bigger hands the steam deck fits really well and I haven’t noticed my hands getting tired at all. And some people bring up weight as an issue, but it actually feels lighter that the switch to me because of it’s better grip shape. I feel like the switch is more of a pinch while I feel like the deck you can hold/grip better
The sequel to this device is going to be insane. Put an OLED display and a higher performing APU on this and it'd be 60fps for basically all games on the market.
Funny I was saying the exact same thing to a friend a month ago... if this is first draft the next iteration will be amazing. What I'd like to see: Better APU Imroved battery OLED screen Better haptics Accessible nvme slot eGPU support
I honestly don’t know why people aren’t talking about how incredible the steam deck is. The early reviews got it wrong this thing is amazing and getting better everyday.
It's just got a *very* specific use case. It's really only for someone who doesn't have a PC and wants to get into PC gaming in a more console-like way, or someone who really, really hates sitting at a desk and likes the ability to play anywhere in the house. I'm always looking for a reason to pick one of these up. It's an amazing piece of tech and it's doing amazing things for Linux. But personally I just got a Retroid Pocket 3 for emulation / game streaming. Because it's small enough that it's actually portable, not just handheld, y-know? I'd just feel awkward wandering around with this miniature skateboard. I can always stream games from my PC with Moonlight if I just don't want to be at my desk.
@@colbyboucher6391i buyed a steam deck cause in our house there is only one TV, a really good TV but only one; we are in 5 so its impossibile for me using it that much. A gaming PC cost alot so thats it. Already have a switch
Promising device. Trying to buy the instance for my son. Yeah, I live in Russia and we can buy here the Steam Deck 512 for 1100$ (cause no official supply from Valve in our country it cost really high). At this point I did try 3 instances - one 256Gb and two 512Gb. All three has serious defects - friction of left stick and top case (the hole in case for stick is not right circle form and has more like egg form), after the day of active usage the stick start literally gam. And other issue which was on all three instances as well - serious light bleeding, especially on top-left corner (it has yellow tint a bit). So, I noticed that yellow tint light bleeding on this video as well. But top case holes for sticks has right circle form.
I am already looking at 2Tb NVME’s and my STEAM dock should arrive by Friday. I have also 3k roms running on a 256 U3 A2 Lexar micro sd card. Loving it so much
you know a product is that good when companies start copying and trying to surpass you. I love how powerful but small and costly the steam deck is will definitely be getting the next version also most likely
This thing is the Swiss Army Knife for gaming. I was playing mine today and played a little bit of Silent Hill 3 for the PlayStation 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Stray, a bit of XBOX Game Pass, and then watched a couple videos on TH-cam. And to think you can hook this up to an HDMI port and connect a Bluetooth controller to it makes it even more versatile.
A lot of the unverified games also work perfectly too. I played all the way through the Batman Arkham Series, and only Arkham Asylum needed tweaking with a GE version of proton.
Had mine for about 3 weeks and each week I have liked it more and more. Most I have loved videogames in years. Been playing a ton of my steam library, also installed Diablo 2 Resurrected and it runs and controls great, also have epic launcher games going and a little emulation. Lastly, I have a few of my dvd and bluray collection ripped and put on here, its actually been great for watching a horror movie in bed before I go to sleep. This thing can really do anything. Liking it way more than I was expecting.
This is super incredible dang! I get days gone up to 12 hours almost with my charge and play option with my beastly battery back so the battery life is very very good with the battery pack nice!
You are right the PS4 has 1.84 tereflops of compute power The Deck has 1.6 But with RDNA 2.0 technology so that quick look at compute power doesn't mean anything. Plus the Deck has 16gb of ram running at super fast speed, compared to the ps4s 8gb unified ram Only thing leaving the deck down is its TDP of 15w And it's proton emulation for running games designed for windows directx
I wish this would have been out 10 + years ago when I was traveling every Month for work. would have been amazing in airports, convention centers, hotel rooms!... My questions is have you hooked it up to a TV or Monitor yet? wondering if that's a good feature or not
I got my deck in late April and I assumed it would have become "business as usual" by this time of year. It hasn't. Games are constantly being added to the playable or verified list...for example you couldn't get Final Fantasy 14 running without going through some tedious setups last May. I just learned that its playable and now I am 10 hours into a really awesome MMO journey...on something that I can play anywhere with wifi and a power outlet....so amazing!

@@jarekzahary Uh... not really? It's pretty quiet for a tiny machine with that much power, doesn't get that hot... the screen is sharp and has decent colours. I mean, it's a handheld... with a huge number of options to tweak its performance, that can run almost anything...
Definitely consider one just for streaming from my PS5. Not keen on the remote play app but if PSplay work's that would be great. Also looking at comments the switch emulator would be good.
Its unfortunate it has not released in my country yet i would love to get it (even if it did i likely couldnt afford it at that moment though) Seems like a ABSLUTE DREAM of a handheld

While I think a 120hz screen would be amazing, very few games would be able to take advantage of it unless they're pixel-art indie titles or maybe emulated classics. I could be missing the point though.
Nah, you're not missing the point. People complain about the battery life, but if you bottleneck this thing like a Switch Lite, big shock, it has slightly better battery life than a Switch Lite. Part of why it's as fast as it is is because Valve lets you chug power from the battery if you want to. 120hz is nice but it'd just make the battery complaints even worse.
Oh man. It’s actually killing it. If I had to travel for work I’d buy it for airplanes. Perfect way to play those game pad games that have been sitting in my library begging me to finish. Dead cells comes to mind
This video. This review. It's killing me. I live in South East Asia and Steam did not release or market it over here. So retailers are importing them thus leading to huge mark up with the price. I'm currently on the verge of getting the Nintendo switch OLED, I've already been aware of this handheld console, but due to what I've said earlier, I kinda gave up on it. Now that I've seen this video, man its just a landslide decision. Nintendo switch OLED has nothing on this. Nintendo should have released a newer upgraded versio, but still. This thing is a freakin PC. I've been a PC gamer since I was a kid, always PC over consoles, so you can just imagine how amazed I am with this. people born in the 80s and 90s are so lucky, guys we made it to this point.
Many thanks for this great video, straight to the point in telling me what I need know without bombarding me with dumb memes - great work mate many thanks again
Just a thought, if you have the power at the bottom like the Nintendo switch then when you go to charge it while you are playing it, you potentially could damage the plug by bending it while resting it down on a surface. For me, the top is a better place
Steamdeck is very suitable for busy person, married, has children …. And still want to play games. PS5, xbox, PC is good for children, student, single or someone has much free time.
i am playing some of my steam games via xbox controller on my phone with steam link. and on router side using 5ghz band works so good that i can do 60 fps 1080p or 1280p streams with no drops in fps. it does not need internet to stream games from pc to phone but you will need internet on lets say you want to play those Forza horizon 5 festival playlist. other than that as long of wifi speed is good between phone and router its a breeze.

I was able to buy the parts quickly but the actual daughter board which i suspect has the broken button is not sold on ifxit so i'm going to have to attempt to solder a new button myself. That button is easily remapped to one of the back bumpers. Besides that it's been really fun and while i've mostly been playing older titles performance has been amazing.
I finally got my Steam Deck earlier this year. And because of my cataracts, i do struggle with it a bit. But regardless, I bought the pro option. And play almost daily. I'm still playing it every single day. It's just perfect for bed time or sitting on the couch so you can still socialise and play your games at the same time
Nah I prefer a big screen oled tv ps5 and call of duty this week and street fighter 6 next year

Agreed. Lately I've been obsessed with the ability to divide the touch pads into multiple buttons. The customization you can do is truly insane.
I have a beast of a PC with a 3090 and the first thing i pick up is my steam deck when I’m home. It just great to relax anywhere in the house whilst playing PC games and i spend more time with my family than being glued to my desk. It a great device.
"Spending time with family" does not mean sitting next to them while you're playing games. D'uh.
@@emailiamilia1843 That's not the point though is it? I said in my statement not being glued to my desk, rather than being able to play PC games whilst socialising with others.
Me too. I don't bring it out often, mainly use it at home playing in any room or the backyard

I have AAA PC Titles on the Steam store I can run on this, which is what it was meant for LOL.
Meanwhile the Switch never even gave us Themes. The Deck already does this with Decky. This thing is just insane. Wish I had this when I was a kid but better late then never.

@dss-ri5zy can't remember everything I emulated. My comment is a year old and my Deck is collecting dust. My ROG Ally is my go to now
By countless hours of research this seems like the best "affordable" handheld emulation machine.

How much and where did you buy the ssd?

I figured there were some workout around a out there I wasn’t aware of. You gonna make a video on it?!
A better way to check Compatibility is ProtonDB. Not only lists what will and wont work and how well it will do so, people have directions on how they got it to work. Or at minimum what problems they had that didn't keep them from playing in the long run.

I can't wait to see what everyone is hyped up about with this machine and to get gaming some brilliant steam games on it
Waiting for mine to arrive. So excited!
I had my deck since August and no hand fatigue or cramps like the switch valve did a lot research on this handheld.

My top four to do with Steam Deck:
1. Install ProtonUp-Qt for new GE-Protons 2. Use Higher rendering resolutions (under Properties) 3. Install emulator(s) 4. Get a Dock.
I love this thing, I even stream my PS5 to it and it works flawlessly with no lag.

I see the Gentleman chose those particular garments.
Well said man. I pretty much agree with everything you said. This is absolutely incredible. I think it’s actually my favorite console at this point
Also, first video of yours I've watched - really well produced, nice mic quality etc! Subbed

This thing is the Swiss Army Knife for gaming. You are right the PS4 has 1.84 tereflops of compute power
The Deck has 1.6
But with RDNA 2.0 technology so that quick look at compute power doesn't mean anything.
Plus the Deck has 16gb of ram running at super fast speed, compared to the ps4s 8gb unified ram
Only thing leaving the deck down is its TDP of 15w
And it's proton emulation for running games designed for windows directx
Proton is not an emulation it's a compatibility layer.

I wish this would have been out 10 + years ago when I was traveling every Month for work. would have been amazing in airports, convention centers, hotel rooms!...
My questions is have you hooked it up to a TV or Monitor yet? wondering if that's a good feature or not
It is supported with a dock.

Best handheld I’ve ever had!! I don’t know which I enjoy more, the games or customization for the games through the Deck lol. Sometimes I forget to play my game hehe…. As a gamer who wants to play PC but HATES sitting at a desk… this is heaven on a little box!! My little indies machine… FINALLY!!
It's a trashdeck. Display IPS 400 nits (like phones from 2016), not comfortable button layout < wtf were valve thinking? Too big similar to laptop. Skateboard is also a handheld. Uncomfortable to play when laying on bed. If something happens to your right or left side with troll buttons u are fucked. Simple as that.
@@Fioletowooki Pretty bad take. Would hate to think like you do.

Just ordered mine. But I tell you what I'd love to see - the box sold separately, so to speak. No screen, no controls, just the underlying hardware with a load of extra HDMI/USB sockets so you could turn it into the tiniest, most portable gaming machine/console.
And how is the impression of a poor TFT screen? 🤣 Next time, think twice before buying electrotrash 🚯
@@jarekzahary ...What are you on about, exactly?
@@NicholasBrakespear loud 🔊 fans? 🤣 Pooor TFT Screen? 😂 Heating? 🔥 😹
@@jarekzahary Uh... not really? It's pretty quiet for a tiny machine with that much power, doesn't get that hot... the screen is sharp and has decent colours.
I mean, it's a handheld... with a huge number of options to tweak its performance, that can run almost anything...
@@NicholasBrakespear buy eyes 👀
had mine about three months now and have nothing but positive things to say about it
Definitely consider one just for streaming from my PS5. Not keen on the remote play app but if PSplay work's that would be great. Also looking at comments the switch emulator would be good.
Its unfortunate it has not released in my country yet i would love to get it (even if it did i likely couldnt afford it at that moment though)
Seems like a ABSLUTE DREAM of a handheld
I only have one problem with my Deck. Since I installed emulators, I haven't even touched my Steam library in a few weeks. Shoutout to retroachievements.
Use an HDMI dummy plug and you don’t need your monitor to be turned on for remote play. Just select the dummy plug as the video out. Saves power too.
Steamdeck is just awesome. Had mine just over a month. No crashes or issues. Love playing it docked with a nice monitor at work. Oh and the game pricing, the Steam sales. My lord, balls to the gouging PS5 or Switch. Its sooo comfortable to use too.

Hopefully they get into those markets soon for you 🙏🏼
I use it more than my 3080 Ti, 5800x3D PC..even put me off upgrading to the 4090 lol
Many thanks for this great video, straight to the point in telling me what I need know without bombarding me with dumb memes - great work mate many thanks again
i have steam deck for about 4 months and i fuckin love it, play about 3-6 hours average, 2-3 times charge/days cause i'm heavy user.
Just a thought, if you have the power at the bottom like the Nintendo switch then when you go to charge it while you are playing it, you potentially could damage the plug by bending it while resting it down on a surface. For me, the top is a better place
Other handhelds have one on each side for options which is think is best 👍🏻
Steamdeck is very suitable for busy person, married, has children …. And still want to play games. PS5, xbox, PC is good for children, student, single or someone has much free time.
And steam deck is good for br
ainless hype victims.
i am playing some of my steam games via xbox controller on my phone with steam link. and on router side using 5ghz band works so good that i can do 60 fps 1080p or 1280p streams with no drops in fps. it does not need internet to stream games from pc to phone but you will need internet on lets say you want to play those Forza horizon 5 festival playlist. other than that as long of wifi speed is good between phone and router its a breeze.
I missed out on God of War 1 as a kid and the game runs smoothly on the emulator. I've been playing Mario Odyssey as well.
is the emulator built in? or is it something you have to go through a ton of steps to download.
@@Original-Juice Emudeck(The collection of all the emulators) was like installing a regular program on my computer. The desktop mode is like using windows.
Really happy to see this video !!
I got mine for about 3 weeks now and what still baffels me is the fact that games are waaaaaay cheaper then switch, ps5 or Xbox games.
I got steam keys for a nickel and a dime. Arkham collection (3 games) for 6 bucks !
God of war for 29 bucks ! Days gone for 10 bucks.
I got a switch and games are more expensive and can't compare to the steam deck.
or even Elite Dangerous for £5. I shall be ordering one very soon having seen how good it is at retro emulation.
@@PyroBrit oh I tried that also. And it is amazing what the deck can handle emulation wise.
I'm playing cyberpunk right now and graphically it is breathtaking, coming from playing switch.
Love my steam deck, I have a legitimate issue though, it is really fragile, after only about a week the left bumper broke.
Every time someone says a portable device between xbox one and ps4... It makes me soooo happy. What a good time we are living!!!
I finally got my Steam Deck earlier this year. And because of my cataracts, i do struggle with it a bit. But regardless, I bought the pro option. And play almost daily. Especially with constantly available deals and offers.
