*Install was easy **fireplace.homes** good although I personally had some difficulty with the thermostat I had. Issue was mine though, not realizing that electric heaters couldn't use oil thermostats. Tip: If you are using an external thermostat, run the power to the thermostat, not the unit. Once that was squared away it worked great.*
Thanks for the informative video. I will get this to warm up the garage while I finish my sound system install . I agree with Mr Justice below, those electricians are real hard to come by.
Nice work man. I'm thoroughly enjoying my heater. It's definitely getting cold out here in the Heartland. I had to pull a permit to get it hooked up though 😆. I bet I called every electrician In the county. None of them wanted to take the job very busy building / wiring the new sukup factory. I can't say I blame them though my job is just small potatoes compared to what they could make on a bigger job. It wasn't all too bad doing it myself your video definitely helped. I've become a regular viewer of your channel keep toolin and stay warm.
Hey, I appreciate it! Glad you are liking the heater, ive been very happy myself. Unfortunately like everything else there is an electrician shortage and sometimes the regular home owner suffers because of it, not to mention when there is a big job in the area! Appreciate you following along, its good to know people find my content useful, it is alot of work producing it some time! Take care and stay warm yourself!
Question: Using a 3rd party thermostat (like Ecobee) is it possible to remotely tell this heater to "Stop" and or "Start" heating quotes because I realize it probably stays ON always being hard wired). My end goal is to be able to heat my outdoor garage only on days I know I will be out there and I would love to get a head start heating it from my already warm house :). Thank you so much for the videos, there is not a ton of info about the Eco2S+ out there and this has been very helpful.
First off, thanks for stopping by! To answer your question, the Ecobee can be set to "System off or Heat". The "system off" would keep the heater from running until you turn the system back on to "heat". Ultimately when the system is on "heat" it will run to achieve the temperature called for in the thermostat set point. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions! I intend to use the unit in that same fashion to preheat it to 60 degrees when I pick up another Ecobee!
Great video, very informative. I recently purchased the version of this heater with remote only. I plan on using 8-2 wire. Am I correct in using a 40 amp breaker? Dual or single pole? Thanks in advance
Thanks for stopping by! I used 8-2 wire on mine and a 40 amp double pole breaker (it is a 240 volt setup). Looks like you are on the right path. and I think we are going to be very pleased with your purchase! Happy holidays
I have this heater but don’t think I got an external thermostat with it. I believe the lowest temp it could go was 45 can I add an external thermostat and lower the temp lower?
The eco2s+ does not come with an external thermostat, it is optional. The heater will go as low as whatever external thermostat you choose, unfortunately most dont go much lower than 45 degrees.
How do u like this heater ? I have a 3 car garage/ man cave fully insulated and looking for something to heat it up and cool it in the summer. I was looking at dyi Costco 18000 btu Mr cool minisplit system which is $1600 but it has both ac/heating in one unit. I don't know which rout to go, get a heater dyna glow 15000 watts right now for $500 and buy something else for the summer time or just get the minisplit system?? I have a pool table in there and a gym:). I love in Clovis California in 9b zone I think or 9
It really depends what you want to do here. I am not an HVAC professional by any means, but I think you would be able to get away with the minisplit unit. I looked at the same Mrcool unit so I can add AC to my shop, but it will not be sufficient to keep it warm during the winter (we see -25 ° F at times). I really like the heater I have and plan to add a minisplit for AC in the future. Hope this helps.
I'm looking into these for our 3 car garage workshop that's 22x30 ft. The ceiling, 2 walls + garage doors insulated, one wall we are unsure of. I'm in Idaho, zone 2. Lots of cold days here. What size did you get for your garage? Most people say they run the 7500w with no problem. The website recommends a 10500w size, Seems a little big to me. What does it cost you to run this unit? I'm afraid my bill will skyrocket from running this type of heater.
I have a 7500 watt heater and this is my 3rd winter using it to heat my 24' x 24' with 9' walls (576 sq ft) detached garage, located in iowa. It is fully insulated with an insulated garage door. It easily heats garage and had it 65 in the shop when it was -20 out. I leave it set at 45 degrees all winter long and I think the largest increase I've ever seen in my monthly bill is ~$75 when we had 2+ weeks of -15 degrees as a high. Long story short, it has worked extremely well for me and I personally would buy it again. The only other "easy" option I had for heat was LP and right now it super high in cost as well. Let me know if you have any questions!
@@k6outdoors Wow, $75 extra for 2+ weeks of - 20 isn't bad at all! I think I'm going to go with the 7500 watt unit. Hopefully, I can find an electrician to hardwire it for me! Do you have any tips for extra insulation around the inside of the garage door that won't be opened? We have weather seals, and insulated doors but there's a slight draft from the doors.
@@sewhat4040 i have seen people use that foam sealant tape to help make a better seal. Just keep in mind, there is no guarantee on what it will cost you to run. Everything from insulation value to electrical rate can greatly affect what it will cost. I know several people who have one and they have been very happy with the power consumption.
Good evening Sir, great video mon ami and great set up 😉👍 Do you think they should made a better front air diffuser Sir 🤔 What do you think ? Have a great week Sir Cheers 😉🍻👍
The front diffuser is definitely not perfect, however it is very functional. Some people may not care for the design, but it works great for me, set it and forget it! Thanks for stopping by! Cheers

Can you show me how you wired in the external thermostat please
Yes I can work on that, stay tuned

Why didn’t you mention where the ground wire goes? In the bottom of the heater?
Definitely an oversite on my end when filming. Appreciate you pointing it out and thanks for stopping in!

Soon to be a hot topic.....winter is coming.
Yep, things are starting to "heat" up
Nice video but you didn't show how wire red and black to the heater
Just used a large wire nut, thanks for stopping in

Does it come with a external 24v thermostat?
It does not come with one, they are purchased separately
How much does it cost if you have a electrician to come out?
Most electricans will give you a free quote. As far as what it will cost to be done, that can very greatly depending on location and materials needed.
