- Taking a break from AWE, let's check out this educational typing game from 2004! How does it hold up today?
SpongeBob SquarePants Teaches Typing belongs to The Learning Company.

To this day I still don’t know how to type like how these games want me to
then there's the fact that it's a american keyboard XD but yeah I don’t type like this game either🤣
Same. All I did at computer class, was do the assignment and not remember the rest after it was over. I continued to type how I normally do
Agreed
We were forced to do typing practice everyday throughout Elementary. The games we had to play would get so insanely fast at times you really had to learn to type fast or never be able to pass the level.
Safe to say I’m the fastest typed in my family. Also safe to say I never type the way it’s supposed to be, it makes me type slower with the way they want stg.
I played this game as a child! I remember i begged my parents to get it for me bc the packaging had “unlock the Krabby Patty secret formula!” on it or something like that. unfortunately i did not find out the secret formula but it did help introduce me to typing 😅 thanks for the nostalgia!
Funnily enough, I made a few TH-cam Poops of the game's cutscenes back in 2014 when I first started my channel, and if I remember right I named them all some variation of "SpongeBob Teaches Typing".
I think you’re thinking of “Mario teaches typing.” That game has been memed to death around the early days of TH-cam so I think you were remembering that
I certainly remember those days! I'll never forget the video of the floating Mario head threatening to bite my snout. But nah, I remember calling it SpongeBob Teaches Typing since before I knew about that game. I do think I confused it for some other typing game somewhere down the line, but it is a really funny phenomenon!
@@lucililium ohh, I gotcha. To be honest I always thought the same about the title too. Thing was I always assumed it was because of the Mario title that I mistook for SpongeBob. It feels like a cool Mandela effect tbh
What’s crazy is I thought it was called spongebob teaches typing too 😂 and I didn’t know about Mario as a kid
To me it was and will always be Spongebob teaches typing.
Seeing it again brings it all back to me. Honestly as a kid I don't think I noticed the voice for Mr Krabs being different. But I remember how fun those Glove World games were, the great snail race was definitely improved by Spongebob's commentary.
But man do I remember it being tricky, half the time I just ended up frantically typing with my index fingers instead of the correct way. I'm actually trying to type this comment the correct way and I tell you what it's a lot harder than I thought it'd be.
That's probably what I get for not having the correct posture, in fact I can't even remember if I beat Sandy myself, or if only my older sister did.
Anyway, great video, I'll be sure to check out more of your content.
I still can't get over the fact that Clancy Brown didn't reprise his role as Krabs in this game.
I loved The Learning Company as a kid, and still do. I remember having a blast playing the "Starflyers" and "Cluefinders" games.
I don’t know why, but I thought this game was absolutely hysterical when I was young. 🤣
Maybe it was mr krabs’ voice 🤷♀️
I remember this game from when I was a kid
Haha, I vividly remember this video game. I never had known what the game had wanted me to do since I didn't understand english well at the time and so I just typed random stuff the whole time, kept opening the game to watch the cool cutscene. What memories..
I remember playing this in the public library all the time
I remember it being called Spongebob's Typing Adventure
6:25 Lol, as someone who kept snails I caught once, I can confirm that garden snails atleast, enjoy lettuce and other greens, also some fruit.
Wow, I completely forgot about this game until now. I'm certain that my youthful propensity for SpongeBob Teaches Typing is the reason I can type so well today. Great video!
Seeing this video awakened some memories I didn’t know I had. Now I remember playing this game as a kid. Although, I’m assuming I didn’t like it because hearing the voice lines was really
grating on me for whatever bizarre reason. Thanks for covering these old SpongeBob computer games.
8:59 That still haunts me to this very day!
My school had a few old typing games Mario type and this SpongeBob one
I never played this one, but that Flats butt-kicking joke actually made me laugh! This made me want to play this, but it also gave me flashbacks to having to practice typing in middle school haha
This need a sequel tbh
5:59 Prawn made a cameo in an actual episode of spongebob
I barely remember this game at all because Operation Krabby Patty was more memorable to me as a child, but not only do I still own my copy of Spongebob Typing, it's also in good condition with barely a scratch or spec of dirt on it.
This was actually really rad to see, nice job 😃
Just found your vids, and was super surprised that you have so few subs. You totally deserve more man!
This was pretty gnarly, keep up the good work man
I loved this company. I played soooo many of these games and LOVED THEM. The nostalgia omg !
I had this game as a kid! I don't really remember much about it, but I remember playing it on my dad's Mac. Same with Employee of the Month.
I always said "Aye aye, captain!" after Mr. Krabs said "It's time for fashion in A Star Is Born! Are you ready, kids?" when I chose the A Star Is Born game. Speaking of which, Patrick Pinney (the actor of Painty the Pirate) voiced Mr. Krabs in this game, so it's pretty ironic.
I never listened to how people wanted me to type lmao. I still do it my own way with certain fingers and look at the keys from time to time.
That being said, I'm so sad I never had this one growing up. It looks like a season 2 episode and that's the highest praise I could give it. Especially the joke with Flatts wanting to kick SpongeBob's butt you showed was 100% on point with the show. I'm assuming my mom or my dad thought I wouldn't want to play the typing game growing up so they didn't get it, but I have played almost every other SpongeBob game so I need to play this eventually even if it is 20 years old. Great video as usual and a nice deviation from the AWE series.
Also if you need another non-AWE title there was SpongeBob Monopoly released for PC in like 2008/2009. I remember getting that after Nighty Nightmare as the last boxed SpongeBob PC title. There might be a decent video in that.
Morty was in the show, he was in the hall moniter episode
Ahhh I still remember playing this in the library when I was little, I didn't know what I was doing but still, good times
I was a big Jumpstart Typing fan myself
Mom: Go play with the neighbor’s kid
The neighbor’s kid: 9:00
i actually have a russian copy of this game and the title translates as “spongebob teaches typing”
oh really?
Great video! Sad to see this has so little views
Damn only 6 likes, actually that video has a really good quality. I hope u get the popularity u deserve

N O N O N O N O N O

Your channel tag of “review obscure things” reminded me that Lego Battles existed. It’s a DS game I loved as a kid but I think it’s fallen into the void of the unknown (to my knowledge)
Fun video luci, well made! And I like your voice
8:58 cue the Flapjack scream
The Learning Company also made the Reader Rabbit games.
I wish we had these typing games in Elementary.
We had Ultrakey (which I despised) and this other game that I can’t find but it was space themed and it used 3D models. That one got harder and harder the more you progressed, to the point where I was stuck on a level for a year or two because it was just so insanely fast. I remember finally beating that level and feeling bittersweet for the first time in my life. Glad that I was finally past it… only to realize that it just led to even more levels that no one could beat in the class lmao.
At least I can type really fast now.
good video! deserves way more views and you more subs!
I just did a full 100% longplay video for SpongeBob SquarePants Typing PC on my channel recently. Thanks for explaining the history behind it.
I beg you to just watch the other videos and move on from that dang ghost game for your own mental health, let it go and just enjoy the uploads. It’s not that difficult, kid. And please never speak to me again ❤️
@@gracekim25bizarre. Did you mean to reply to this video?
This is how I learned to use the keyboard
Good for you.
I remember this game for sure!
It's all about that finger strength baby!
I remeber I played this game in my public library
It’s a really good game. Great for teaching kids typing.
omg id play this at a public library
Oh damn, that Mr Krabs voice. The sound of his voice does sound kinda like Clancy Brown, but the way he speaks is pretty off. 😅
yep i have this game, never realised it was displaying a americain keyboard onscreen. not sure if it will work on modern computers.
18.3.23
You're not Mister Krabs
I remember this one.
Oh my gosh I had this
i remember playing that game when i was little
Oh my god I played this, I could never beat anything and thought it was the hardest game ever but also I was 5.
Glad I wasn't the only one who got scared from the Patrick one
Mr Krabs saying 'WELL I'LL BEEE!' has stayed with me :D
Yes even as a child I could tell he sounded different but I found his voice here hilarious 🤣
Also i don’t actually remember how I learned to use a computer at this stage😅
6:44 That eye of Patrick on the right kinda freaked me out!
Same! I remember that stage really disturbing me for a lot of reasons.
I remember this! I played this at a library! I think I only played it because…well..Spongebob! For some reason I had a hard time playing this.
i played this game as a small child
i thought i made this game up in my head lol. as soon as you played the first cut scene, all those memories i'd buried deep in my brain came back. though i do have a memory of some cut scene freaking me out. it might've been a cut scene they show when you lose? i'm not sure i don't remember many details.
Ah good ol maestro trombot
I played this game when I was ten.
I got this game from scholastic bookfair lol
It makes sense 8:49
I learned to type in middle school, I still don’t know how to type properly.
I found out about this game at my local Boys and Girls Club
I only know of this game from peanut butter gamer and now I’m wondering how the fuck the game came up with sunsenses for senses
ughhh i loved typing games as a kid they still hold up
I THINK i may have an idea on why you believe the title was "SpongeBob Teaches Typing"
Could it be possible you confused it with Mario Teaches Typing?
But what if you didn’t know that Mario title? 😅
does anyone know if this will work on modern PCs?
I don’t have a clue, sorry 😅 I lost my copy of this game
10:41 *DOYIEIEIEIEIE*
8:59 Jumpscare
Prolly the only pc game i had when i was super small and im soooooo sure it was called spongebob teaches typing so yeahhh someone went back in time and smacked a random fly that ruined it or somethin
