The thing about trains is they often take you through parts of the city that you wouldn't normally see. Although sometimes parts you wouldn't necessarily want to see.
yes, we know how friendly New Yorkers are to Asians, playing the knock out game and sending them into coma, paralyzing them, or take pity and just scream go back to your country. USA has been exposed to the entire world thanks to smartphone cameras.
I often take the train in the morning to work in Washington D.C. It is on the same line that the Acela train uses. It's funny because all of us are half asleep because it's so early but then the Acela flies by and wakes us all up before our train arrives lol. I hope to take this train to New York one day.
I'm so glad you took us on this ride! I knew America had a fast train, but can't wait to hear what someone who has ridden the best trains thinks about it! Thanks!
I just clicked your video while eating my food. I can’t believe I watched w/o skipping until the end. Awesome video, hopefully i get a chance to travel like you using all your recommendations
Glad the Acela was enjoyable! I would like to recommend you take the Amtrak route north of NYC up through New England (north east coast) as well, it's a beautiful ride in autumn as the leaves change color 😄👍
Your videos are my favorites! I am from Idaho USA and I never heard Okie Dokie Anywhere else! I love your commentary..And I Love the frequent Thank You’s. Such a Good thing to Do.😊❤
Hi Kuga. Love your videos and thank you so much for sharing. The next time you come to the US you should come to Florida as Brightline just started train service between Orlando International Airport and Miami. I have seen videos and it is a very nice ride. Might be a fun one to do for a future video. Keep up the great work and thank you again for sharing your time with us!
I’m sorry you didn’t get to see Moynihan Train Hall during the day, it’s quite beautiful. When I last went through there, the food court wasn’t finished yet, but it looked like it’d be great. And Penn Station’s Metropolitan Lounge is hands-down the best in the country: during the day there’s genuinely good hot food (panini!) which can be had *for free* … so long as you’ve booked a roomette or a first class ticket. It’s been a lo-o-o-o-ong time since I’ve lived there, but I’m proud to say my home city is still the best city in the WORLD! 🤗❤️🗽
Great trip, ah you try Acela Express. Maybe it isn't faster than Shinkansen, but yeah like your mention in video, this is fastest in US and most premium one in corridor route. Can't wait for Bus trip back to NYC.
Thank you for this ride. Acela is no Shinkansen but it's okay. I have not seen Moynihan Train Hall yet, so that was nice. Will you ride any western Amtrak trains in a sleeping compartment and full dining car? A few months ago I did the Canadian from Vancouver-Toronto, 4 nights. Great old 1950s streamliner cars. Loved it.
It's too bad you didn't get to ride the new Acela Liberty trains. Hopefully they'll get them on the rails soon! You can see them parked in the rail yard in Philadelphia!
Nice, looks like they updated the lounge there. I've ridden this train end to end on several occasions. It really doesn't hit top speed much, except for just outside Boston, which I clocked at 150 mph.
I've done the North east regional many times over the years and if you book in advance and as long as you avoid rush hour, you should manage a 1-way price of $19-45. Very affordable and the non-acela trains are only ~60-90 minutes longer.
Public transportation greatly lacks in the US, for sure. We have Amtrak and buses that provide cross country transportation, so it is not limited to just cars and planes, but they're not very good. Especially when compaired to other countries!
You see these passing up and down the I95 corridor all the time. Rode one from Philadelphia to Washington myself a few years ago. When I'm coming into work I usually see a few pulling out of the Schuylkill Yards aka 30 street station. I'm American through and through but the trains here are not touching the masterclass trains you've shown in Japan.
This train is good enough for the United States and anywhere else (and, at least the American government actually built it; here in Canada, _nobody's_ even tried to build a similar train that would go down both corridors (Windsor to Quebec City and one that would connect the cities on the west cost.)
i hope if usa focus on they economy they start to colaborate with japanese making fasta and comfort train like shinkansen in usa version even the price is expensive a little but its ok ,usa is rich and they can have it and it can solve the problem of using car and traffic jammed can be fix it
Hmm - for First Class on a modern train, the seating and the carriage looked dour and utilitarian, somewhat like the ghastly ‘hospital corridor ‘ of a first class carriage on a UK Azuma train. Soft overhead lighting, table lamps, wood or wood-feel panels, attractive seat fabric etc are clearly not important to Amtrack either.
I really enjoy your travel videos! I also very much enjoy your sense of humor as well. American culture, as you know, is very different from Japanese culture. Here in the US, most families have at least 2 vehicles so there hasn't been much R&D into a nation-wide train system. Amtrak, in my opinion, is a disappointment. I remember the glory days of train travel & wish we could return to that.
I've only rode this to NYC - because of all the rail traffic and crossings etc., it only started going a wee bit faster than a normal local train once it got through Bridgeport, which is a very weird looking city. Never got to ride the fast part. I've tried several short-run Amtrak trains - the Downeaster (Boston - Portland, ME - very nice trip) and the Surfliner (LA to San Diego nice too) and the Capital Corridor (Sactown to Emeryville - not that nice). I'd probably leave my soul behind on the platform at the speed the Japanese trains go at.
Kuga ! I took this Acela to DC on Jan 19; 2009, for Obama's inauguration. The whole train was one big party!!! Wow, those were the days! But it's great to see things looking better now--- the stations, the service, and the Acela itself seemed clean! You are, by the way, the cool one with the orange juice. ✌🤟
The noise level in the Acela is pretty high compared to the Japanese newest high speed. The seats of the Acela don’t compare to the Japanese high speed trains. So America has a lot of catching up to do.
It’s ok if you thought the Acela sucked. We think it sucks too 😀 Wish I would have known you were in NY. We would have loved to meet with you. We enjoy your videos so much!
Just curious...did you go to the dining car 4 breakfast or was it delivered to your seat? I ride regular Amtrak and most have not had the dining car option since Covid
Great to see that you finally rode this train, Kuga-I hope that you enjoyed it. 11:49-The music system ('radio station') was disconnected and no longer works because nobody was using it due to everybody having smart phones that play MP3's and MP3 players.

The building used to be the New York Main Post Office. It was gutted and remodeled and now serves as the main passenger terminal for Penn Station. So you are incorrect in saying it is not a train station.
There's _nothing_ wrong with this train, other than it can't be fast enough due to the age of the trackage in the Northeast Corridor. But yeah, Amtrak's truly bad, even though it's gotten and is getting brand new rolling stock.🙄
No offense. But...Somehow I kinda disappointed watching it. I wonder its because Im used watching your Japans train journey...and this train lacking something...

I've seen a few Japanese Rail Travel Videos, and as an American, I'm sorry to say the Japanese are much more tidy than us in their cities.

American culture = Screaming at Non Americans to go back to your country. Its been seen by the entire world thanks to smartphone cameras.
The problem with the Northeast corridor is that parts of the right-of-way date from the mid-19th Century that do not permit operations at HSR speeds.
The train in Japan he had in his other vid was twice as fast and twice as smooth.
Look how the orange juice is shaking around. So much side shake. The Japanese high speed doesn’t have any side shake

Why doesn’t Amtrak extend the high speed trains to Virginia and further south?
The US is too busy sending all our money to Ukraine.
