Nice video - I took that trip many times from EWR to Penn Station in the 80s and 90s. I just loved the journey, though Penn was hardly a grand ending. Fortunately Gotham was just a short walk from there!
6:57 The opening credits to the 60’s TV show “That Girl” were filmed on this stretch and played in reverse to look as if the train was heading towards Newark. The station at Secaucus Junction did not exist back then.
Before Moynihan opened, the entire station was underground! It was Amtrak's only fully underground station. It is also like a mini-mall down there, with a lot of shops and restaurants
At 16:30 there is an open area of the extreme West Side just before entering the station, I used to see this. These days, even on the regional, I never see it. It's interesting that you can see all the way to the end of the tunnel until almost reaching that area, (well past the NYS line, over 3 miles) after going up in elevation slightly. When will the rail systems dig another tunnel and where?
@@jboushka The open area you described was a open cut located between 9th and 10th Avenues. It was decked over in the mid-2010's with a large platform that supports the Manhattan West development above.
@@Hypestrike1 Yes, you are correct. The south bound train used to emerge from beneath the Farley Post Office before the tunnel (or enter the open area after the tunnel before going beneath the Post Office if going northbound), since decked over to construct Hudson Yards.
the infrastructure in this region is astounding. other than the old portal br , its been holding up well for its use and age. just so appealing to the eye. i never get tired of it. the remains of the old penn station are in the weeds along this stretch. if you look hard you can see them out the window (not on this vid) , pieces of facade and columns
It's going from the immediate suburban station on the line through tight turn and a freight yard to get to a tunnel were it stops in the middle at Pennsylvania Station.
i always thought the north river tunnels and the chamber at the end of them in psny looked different in tsw from how it does out the window, good to know I was right!
Dude, you’re doing it all wrong… You’re supposed to be playing loud, obnoxious music and flashing clips of things that are in no way related to this! 🤪
You really need a lesson on how to properly film on a moving train. You should have been aiming at the door for the scene or not film the scene at all. The faux pas you made is evident that you are a digital film novice. Nothing to worry about, just brush up on how to film on a moving train. Good luck! @@YuqiLinux
finallyyyy a rear view ride that's in 4K.. AMAZING VIDEO. Would love to see one from NYP-Philly or Philly-DC if possible :)
I think there is some out there from PHILLY - NEW York or the other way around.

I Like The Sound Of The Clickty Clack when The Train Hits The Joints
It’s my favorite as well!
Beautiful view and videos as 4k clear 😊 on amtrak 😊😊 well done brother
10:48. That part you were looking for. The tunnel ❤
Very nice perspective! Seems like progress is coming along nicely on the portal bridge
And - if you haven’t done so - would love between NYC and Boston

Good catch. If you look closely at the freeway to the right, you can see the traffic flowing backwards.
Very nice perspective of a trip that I have taken so many times! I especially enjoyed seeing the interlocking and trackwork just before entering NYP.
Excellent quality. Good shots of the new Portal Bridge construction.
It's crazy how much stuff is underground at Penn Station!
Before Moynihan opened, the entire station was underground! It was Amtrak's only fully underground station. It is also like a mini-mall down there, with a lot of shops and restaurants
Because of fat boy Chrystie the Portal bridge project far behind
I will never forgive him for that.
Wow what an incredible journey!! Thanks for sharing this rear view journey!!
Thanks for viewing! Glad you liked it.
Wonderful capture. Love it. Greetings Joe 😊
Cant tell if this is real or Roblox lol cause theres a NEC train game on Roblox and it has Northeast Regional
It's like I'm riding along too. Great clarity.
awesome! can you please try and do DC to NY?
great clip looks like their finally starting work on those bridges
Excellent views. Please do more like this on NEC in New Jersey. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like it. I’d love to do more
Even clean windows! Jackpot!
I was pretty surprised as well. It was almost spotless.
@@YuqiLinuxyou definitely wouldn’t have got that on NJT.
Had my headphones on and was laying with my eyes closed, falling asleep. Sound was so good, I thought I was on the train for a few minutes.
Wow! Sounds like I’m not the only one that falls asleep with the train ride videos😇 In fact that’s what I play to put me to sleep…
@@YuqiLinux I found out that steam locomotives especially work well for me.
Why do the big stations look so gross and shabby?
Because they are old!
That is a really bad excuse. European stations don't look this bad.
Penn station is a shit show. Seems they are finally trying to improve. Grand Central Terminal is so much better.

Not sure about the tunnel, but the open area you mentioned used to be more open in 2014 and I could see the NYC skyscrapers on the train.
@@YuqiLinux How did they close it, and why?
@@jboushka I actually have no idea. I just noticed the difference on my rides.

Northeast Corridor

I thought it was some engineering vehicle
@@YuqiLinux if you look at the left side, you can see NJT 4641 parked
That's not how I imagined Penn Station...
How does Penn Station look like in your mind?
Love the video but we need better train stations. I can’t believe that’s how the platform looks.

Rode On Amtrak Once, Loved The Ride, Enjoyed The Scenery. To The Staff, Appreciate The Service, Trains. Stay Safe.
That was the first long distance train I went on and it goes all around America.
I didn't know there was a Track 13 at NY Penn. GCT has one.
Необычно как то видеть электрифицированную железную дорогу в Штатах,но вообще видео интересное,спасибо тавтору!
I love it. I almost never get this view. I'm going to save this one. Aarre Peltomaa of Mississuaga, Ontario
That was impressive. Like to see one to where I live.
Well done. Brings back great memories.
So different now with Hudson Yards being capped (the area between the eastern portal of the North River Tunnel and New York Penn Station).
The first time I took this route in 2014 the skyscraper view near Hudson Yards really gave me a wow factor 😇
awesome this is similar to cleveland in ways
very slow train

Man some of that infrastructure getting old bet some of it over 100yrs old !
I think they're planning new routes, but it's kinda amazing to see such old infrastructure still functioning as backbone of the commute.
Memories! Did this for over 10 years.
So familiar to me as an NJ resident.
i always thought the north river tunnels and the chamber at the end of them in psny looked different in tsw from how it does out the window, good to know I was right!
I think it has changed over the years. I used to see the skyscrapers before entering NYP station, but now they have covered it up.
i love this
Love me some trains
Very interesting!
