yes exactly, people always ask me how long i studied for a test but the thing is I never check the time, i just study until i've gone through all the content i need to
6:22 This year at school (Senior year) I have late arrival, meaning I get to skip 1st period, and I can 100% say that more sleep = more success. Before I made an average of some A's and mostly B's, but recently I have been making all A's consistently. I recommend 8-9 hours of sleep a night if possible because it helps more than you may realize especially overtime. Extra note: I also heard cutting back on sugar intake throughout the day also helps with peaking brain function (I'm going to probably try this for myself).
Im a neuroscience major too! I took a memory and cognition as well as social psychology class and everything you said in this video is what I learned this semester 🙏🙏
Dr. Jubal from med insiders has always inspired me since day one. I just have to say that keep up the good work J and don't forget that you are inspiring great future physicians.
Even as someone who received my bachelors with a 4.0 GPA, and used a few of these strategies during my studies, I've learned so much from this video and am so glad that I found it! I'm taking science prereqs (as I will be a non-traditional applicant) so I can qualify for med school and take the MCAT, and the first set of strategies helped me ace my neuroscience exam! Thank you for sharing!
That's awesome! 🎉 Kudos to you for acing your neuroscience exam-those strategies really paid off! 🧠 Keep up the great work as you tackle those prereqs and the MCAT. Got any tips or tricks of your own now? 🔍📚
I'm a new medical student and I've been searching the net for a while now, trying to find guides and tips on how to study as a medical student. luckily for me, I found this channel with amazing contents. Thank you so much ❤️
I love your videos! I am not a medical student (yet) but your insights on how to study and how to be a better and more productive person are unparalleled! To be honest, it seems a bit too good to be true to me that you had all these systems in place. Props to you. I would love to hear the other side of your journey. The struggles you had to go through and how you overcame them 👍🏽
That's fantastic! 🎉 Everyone has their own unique way of absorbing info, so finding your personal groove is key. 📚✨ What's your secret sauce for success? Any unique tips to share? 🤓
Always find your content super informative and work to implement these strategies into my daily life and refine my habits, but as a student with chronic pain and illness, I find my health constantly thwarting my attempts at success and consistency. I’ve never really felt seen as a pre-med with aspirations similar to the next student’s, but am not sure how to realistically combat the situation at hand. I feel like a lot of these videos presume that the audience is physically fit and capable enough of making these changes (I could certainly be wrong), and that it would be beneficial for myself and other students with disabilities to hear from a perspective that is understanding of our circumstances and offers more relevant approaches.
@@MedSchoolInsiders please dr. Jubal, please come up with a video for people with ADHD LIKE ME. I have trouble with notes, reading faster and so reading the textbook and highlighting / annotating helps me a ton, but I don’t have more time for anything else. It’s very hard to get things done in a reasonable amount of time I think cause of my adhd. I’m concerned with studying and being able to adapt to different studying styles, in different subjects, I don’t know how to apply something’s. Also I feel I do in fact actively learn as I write annotations and hi-light my text book, I use a color coding system that helps me speed up the note taking process, because I physically cannot go any faster, and the longer the text, the less I know where to focus my attention to. So please, if you see this I don’t care how desperate I look, I NEED your help, my dream is to become a psychiatrist, and seeing your videos tell me that I just need to adopt a growth mind set that I’m always improving on math and science, give me hope that I don’t have to be as bad as I use to believe.
Isn't it funny how life works sometimes? 🤔 School is just one way to measure intelligence-real smarts often shine outside those walls! What sparked your change after school? 🌟
Watching this video sparked a question. I hope you can help. I’ve taken longer than a traditional biology/pre-profess. student to graduate due to different circumstances, but I’m almost done, finally. However, since it’s been some years since I’ve taken basic courses like Biology & Chemistry (that I passed with great grades) do I: a. need to retake those courses before graduation & applying to med school/PA program? b. graduate, get my degree, then retake certain courses before applying? c. Don’t retake them since I got good grades already, even then it’s been a few years ago?
Decent video though it misses some beats such as memory ability and professors. Adaption and knowing tips to study is definitely learned which is generally not taught to young people. This is especially true with those who don't have family with good income. The active learning is definitely a good way to learn though and I'm glad it's brought up. Of course the stock market analogy is so off the mark compared to studying since the stock market is very rigged.
Memory and profs definitely play a huge role in the study game. It's true, learning how to learn isn't something we're usually taught, especially for those without many resources. Active learning is a gem, though! 💎 And yeah, the stock market analogy might be a bit of a stretch. Got any analogies you think fit better? 📚💡
Hey, I really enjoy your videos and they help me a lot. But, I'm a nursing student and your resources are mostly for medical students, can you recommend a great nursing resource that can help me get straight A's. Thank you
If there are diminishing returns on the effectiveness of productivity/studying throughout the day then why are residents and doctors overworked when dealing with people’s lives?
Great question! Seems like doctors and residents are living life on "Hard Mode" 🎮. It’s a mix of tradition, training intensity, and the belief that the experience is worth the exhaustion. But hey, maybe it's time for a new game plan? What do you think would be a better way to train future doctors? 🩺✨
A Neuroscience major gets owned by a psychology exam. A tale as old as time 🤣. Our majors are brothers, but they aren’t identical twins! I learned the hard way in my behavioral neuroscience class as a psych major (naturally) I just tried to memorize every, and when I needed to apply it, I bombed the 1st exam
Haha, classic sibling rivalry! 🧠 vs. 🧠 Psychology and neuroscience may be related, but they sure do have their quirks. Memorizing is just half the battle-applying it is where the real magic happens. Any new strategies you're planning to ace the next exam? 📘✨
Some of You guys like to judge poorer grade students right? So let me just say something for the A students, OK. (A students WORK for C students) who end up being the "TRUE WINNERS" in the game of LIFE, C for CREATIVITY and CAPITALISM, and that's the COLD HARD TRUTH! WHAT DO Y'ALL THINK ABOUT THAT?? 😂😱😵 🤔
Haha, that's quite a take! 😄 Life does have a funny way of flipping the script sometimes. A's might get you in the door, but creativity and grit often steal the show. 🎭 Who knew a C could be so powerful? What do you think makes someone truly successful? 🚀💡
Hi, thx for the helpful videos, it's helping me organize myself and approach new studying methods to the graduation exam. IS there any place in your community and website for a medical student from Syria?
The captions / subtitles on this video are broken. They appear as one big blob that expands upwards from the end of the paragraph, so the beginning of the transcript is cut off.
0:45 That doesnt make much sense cause it thinks the world is fixed and revolves around your actions, "i go to the bakery every sunday so it will absolutely be open". A great example (even if not entirely realistic) is the final match up between tokuchi and johnson, johnson ran as great as he always did but at that point after 3 straight games he simply wouldnt be able to produce the same output. We also see in the match against Mariners how outside factors can fuck up your plan.
Currently in my junior year...I do random bullshit n don't take notes but still manage to ace them tests, it's prolly gonna bite my butt in med school 🤣🤣
What I’ve found is that course work requires you to know specific things that are too basic. I have to challenge my own self since materials that are required to learn for classes only help students for a very temporary period of time. Very unfortunate as this is how students are educating themselves and colleges are not challenging students in the proper manner required for real success!
i got the highest score in my maths and english and my teacher secretly told me the others did terriable im sorry you’re experincing this there insecure about themselves
That's rough! 😕 Remember, being smart is your superpower! 🦸♂ It might be tough now, but your brainy brilliance will take you far. Keep being you, and you'll find your tribe who appreciates you. Got any cool hobbies or interests that you love? 🎨📚
Neuro-immunology, huh? Sounds like you're diving into the brain's secret defense squad! 🧠🦸♀ Try breaking it down into bite-sized chunks and use colorful diagrams to map it all out. Flashcards and study groups can also be super helpful! We ll put some Neuro-immunology materials ina future in our podcast. Got any favorite study hacks you swear by? 📚💡
I can't be the only one who enjoys active learning more than passive learning. I like seeing the reward of actually knowing the material
Definitely. When you work through content and it clicks instead of making you glaze over, that's one of the best feelings as a student.
Yeah I enjoy active learning too even though dealing the inf for the first time is pretty difficult but once I adapt I don't need to sweat anymore
yea it's very rewarding for me when it comes to chemistry and mathematics
I love this for you
I agree with this, but the time pressure often gets to me.
I used your study methods for pilot training, got top 2% score, and got hired by the USAF for their pilot training program !
Congrats!
I’m currently in AF ROTC congratulations 🎊 I’m having trouble in my classes & hope to make it to field training
Way to go!!
It always comes down to discipline, studying smart and being consistent. Love this video 🙏🏽
I have seen you everywhere
LOL me too! We all watch the same videos and you comments get always voted top, Khalilah. 😄 No wonder why, they're always nice and clever.

I’m addicted to your videos
God given talent, hard work and dedication.
I'm the top student in my class and i just study by my own studying style
So all must adapt to ur own studying style for each situation
I’m curious what is your studying style?

Buuut being smart also helps especially for certain major (physics, maths, eng)
That was helpful & an eye opener thanks
But within the ability to to reflect and Adapt, what works best for subjects that are more theory based ?
This is an under rated video

Sadly it does not work like that on every field. For example in Math grad school your only option is brute force.
LMAO
Surely not!

the main question is what's a neuro science major doing on youtube

I get it. But $10K to get into medical school?
How long does it take to study both neuroscience and medicine? How about the cost for studying both?
Neuroscience was his undergrad so 4 years just like any college degree. And med school is additional 4 years
Can someone write the tips? My English knowledge is not good and I don't fully understand the video
