Hoo boy. Watching this at 31, just went back to university to finish my undergraduate degree. I know I'm taking the long way, but I'm still pumped to be on this path.
In South Africa, it's 6 years of medchool 2 years of internship and 1 year of community service, however you can go into med school straight after high-school
In all honesty, study medicine in an Asian country such as Malaysia - 5 years and you're done! Of course working in the US is a bit tougher after but if you aren't tied down to the US there are plenty of opportunities around the world. For example, UKMLA to the UK or UKMLA plus 1-2 years working in the UK before heading to Australia. A lot cheaper too. Perhaps not the path for everyone but if you are on a budget/don't want tons of debt it's certainly not a bad choice...
come Japan after high school you can enroll in med school just after high school, so you wont need premed(but you need to attend med school for 6yrs). Japanese med school needs less than 4000$ per year. learn Japanese and come Japan.
Go to highschool move to pakistan ukraine china turkry for medschool 5 yrs of med school at 2k to 8k per yr then give usmle come back to us youll still be ahead of your high school mates by 4 yrs
@reddbendd if youre a US citizen youre a US IMG which is considered a tier above US MD cuz thsy dont need to sponsor your visa. If you go into med school with the strategy of going back to US for residency you can do electives and research year to be as or more competitive as a US MD for surgical specialities
Go to Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in Bahrain and you will be a doctor in literally 5 years of college, no premed or for med or whatever nonsense that you Americans talk about lol.
I have a question, do you think you could make a video discussing pediatricians? Like their pay, how long it would take, career goals, ect. It would mean a lot to learn more about the job I want. ☺️
We don’t have a video on this yet but check out our free article outlining all required and recommended prerequisites: medschoolinsiders.com/pre-med/premed-requirements/
@@reddbendd i mean you can’t bet on something like that whether it’s necessary or not but im sure the vast majority of people would agree that a gap year before undergrad is unnecessary. I mean if u just look at the % of people who do take a gap year after high school its much lower than people who dont. When you graduated, were there more people going to college or taking a gap year?
in south africa we do a MBbch witch is a bachulars degree and is six years long, and it the equal to an MD and cheaper. IDK if its acredited in the us ,but it in the UK and most other cuntrys it is
Yeah.. don't think the BS/MD path was a good implementation if it's cutting several years off the learning experience, don't want a 24-26 year old kid making important medical decisions for me or my family's health before their rational brain has fully developed. I've seen enough book smart and clinical clueless young healthcare workers. They need to lower entrance standards a bit for regular MD/DO path, open more schools, and offer further loan/work based incentives for educational repayment including looking at non-traditional students and those who display beyond the norm critical thinking skills alongside a goal to give back to humanity and not solely to pursue a high paying career, follow their parents, or achieve a status.
Are you gonna pay for the student loans ? Do you even understand the rigorous training that these guys go through ? What do you think the board certification is for ???
@@نورالامة1000 You clearly didn't read my comment, I doubt you can read English well let alone speak it, please don't pursue a healthcare career unless you love people and have a passion for continual improvement and excellence in yourself..
@HermannTheGreat lol bro is a racist just because i have a non english name and if that is not the reason what does me speaking it gotta do with anything lol average racist moment
This is a fucking stupid take. Yes maturity levels may differ for younger doctors but clinical expertise remains the same. If anything, I’d trust a younger doctor more than someone who matriculate when they were 35 just because they’ve proven themselves more by accomplishing greater things relatively speaking 🤷🏻♂️
If you watch it at 2x you can become a doctor even faster
😂😂

wishing you luck on your journey!
Step 1: fly to Europe
Step 2: apply to medical school
Step 3: 6 years later congrats you're a doctor
It's 5yrs in Pakistan and they also train you specifically for the USMLE unlike most places in Europe.

Didn’t know research is this important ❤
Yeah, publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
its how they make their money, of course it is more important than anything else...
