Thanks, all of you! I actually have an online test 2 weeks later, so this video put hope in me and I’ve already tried this technique. It works like a charm! Plus, thank you all in the comments section! 😁
Barca Koseoglu I’m in eighth grade and this really helps me as well I get a lot of homework and some of his videos have made me start enjoying homework keep watching his videos there really helpful to study better
I want to say thank you for all the info you provide! I wanted to change my study habits which have been atrocious since MS and HS. I started watching your videos and implementing your strategies. Got a 99% on my last A&P exam and a 90% on my last microbiology exam thanks to the changes.
As I'm a non-traditional hopeful studying for the MCAT, I find the Feynman Technique hardest. The other techniques (especially active recall/spaced repetition) are absolutely beautiful! Thanks for all you and you're team are doing. #neuroplasticity #potentiation
This is great! It’s really not addressed much in school. We are forced to learn a lot of un-useful information when the true value would be in teaching us HOW to actually learn it- teaching someone how to learn is more valuable than WHAT they learn often times.
You should go over the med school application more. I know you have done that already, but you should go more in-depth. Like how do I log my personal experiences such as shadowing, volunteer and service activities, leadership and community involvement, Research, and clinical exposure? I know it's all important. But how do you log it? How will the admissions teams actually know that you have done these things?
I’m in eighth grade and this really helps me as well I get a lot of homework and some of his videos have made me start enjoying homework keep watching his videos there really helpful to study better also they have helped me learn how to manage my time and I’m getting better grades so thank you keep up the good work
I’m the worst test taker, i get super anxious, i doubt all my answers and even question my knowledge right as I have the test infront of me😞 Can you make a video on test taking PLEASE?
Carol Chimirri i haven’t done research on this since I’ve only heard of it from a professor you should look into ways helping test anxiety because it’s a real thing that you can overcome and eventually be confident and okay with test taking
I just wanted to say that while I'm extremely cheap, I'd buy any sort of software you put out. If for example you had a note taking software that included these techniques (so that maybe after a certain about of time you had to go back to a certain topic or it had ways to put in flashcards & practical problems & cases /examples), I'd buy it. Depending on the functions, I'd say I would pay up to €30-€40 for it (and I'm as cheap as they come). Just an idea!
How do we get into med schools in usa and uk from countries like India and other countries. As it is very expensive for people in india to go into US for med school.
It's better to use apps such as anki for spaced repetition because they are made to organize the time between each repetition based on the difficulty to recall them.
Why didn't you mention mind mapping and summary sheets? Otherwise one of the best you did. I'm a Paed and the info is too much to convert into Anki. I use summary sheets/mind maps and own questions, but attaching to my main textbook (Nelson) which I have divided into systems.
if you haven't made a video about it yet, could you make a video on minors as a pre-med student? do you recommend it? is it better if the minor was a scientific subject, or could it be something different like economics? i'm a junior in HS so i want to know what my options are!
I have a question. Is it weird that I don't find studying from flash cards aren't for me? Also I was interested in the idea of the forgetting curve. I watch some videos about it and thought about this over, and I attempt using a template that uses the forgetting curve. It's not for me I prefer understanding the information for long term memory, and for processing information I prefer writing down questions to quiz myself if I take notes or when I do a reading.
Hey Dr. Jubbal, I’m wondering what modifications did you make with your Anki schedule? I have been using it but my cards age so fast and then the next time I will see the card is like 3 weeks away when i have the midterm in 4 days....
Hey Med School Insiders, could you do an episode on morning vs night showers, and settle the debate once and for all? Would love to hear the science behind why one or the other is better (or maybe both?)
Based on the book Make it Stick, I believe the essential idea is to mix it up rather than repeating the same concept or technique. For example, suppose you are learning boxing. You may keep doing the jab for hours if you believe concentrated practice will improve your technique. Interleaving suggests that repeating the same technique is pointless. So, instead of just doing the jab for hours, it’s more effective to practice the jab, cross, hook and uppercut all together at the same time. In an academic context, instead of repeatedly doing question of permutation, it’s better to mix it up and do 1 question of permutation followed by another question of combination and so forth. In this video, he is suggesting that you complete one section of an entire subject before moving on to another. So, study maths for 25min, take a break for 5 minutes and then study maths again for 25 minutes, but, after this session, move to a different subject. Once you are done with an entire session of that subject, come back to maths and repeat.
Tq bro short and cute it was like a spaced reputation!. For people who usually Donot acquire knowledge by books, the other modes auditory will this help bro recording hearing again is not useful (help) pls🌝
Hello, I was wondering about the re-applicant status. I think it is not explained very well. Is it only to those schools that you have applied the first year, or all schools in general, even if you are applying to them for the first time?? Thank you for your videos, they are a great inspiration!
It means that you switch to other topics instead of studying one topic exclusively. For example, you can study each topic 20 to 30 minutes then take a 5 minute (or a few more minutes if needed) break then move to another topic and repeat. That keeps you focused and helps you to associate information in topics to each other.
So listening to music while studying isn't bad right?? Cause I have had people tell me, " How do you study with the music ??" So I thought I was the only one , but I tend to get drowsy but music keeps me awake and I tend to actually concentrate , I have also seen videos saying that it isn't very effective either but it seems to work for me .. So should I do something abt it or be unique abt it ? 🤷
I have question is it possible becoming a doctor without studying? My dream job is doctor.I live in Mongolia.I get only Fs on my reportcard i only get As on English and is it bad getting F.Do grades even matter getting bullied called stupied my classmates and teachers just let me down im always depresed.Does cutting help? Can i become doctor with only English and my all reserch from all viruses and others is it worth or its just waste my life 12 years on school 4 years on academia 2 years on idk what its called in English anyways 6 years for to become doctor. And how do i deal with my big heart ill just starts crying BC of an stupied punch and being girly, weak, cant fight is this natural? And why am i boy others say me ur freak go die or just called as girl.Ive cant evan watch an anime they call pervert beacuse i watch anime they think that im hen*** watcher. And plz anyone give me advice please i need it.Is it worth carrying a knife?
ehhhh ... your gym "analogy" could use some work. first and foremost, it only really applies to guys ... if then because you're much more prone to injury as well. that's not kewl. secondly, you can very well lift 10 lb dumbbells and just max out on reps; in general, this is what gives one a slender but very toned appearance vs the hulk like steroids-y (not the kind about which i usually talk) appearance. also, i really suggest that everyone compares and contrasts "material" or even sources no matter what they are referencing. if we had more people do this in the recent election, things would not be so close, i'm quite sure. we need to make and keep facts, well, facts! finally a point about which i agree! iq and standardized tests HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ONE ANOTHER. i have mentioned throughout facebook that i know many people i went to grade school with who were barely able to get into the gifted program (iq about 120) who, comparatively speaking, are much LESS intelligent than i am, but they are now doctors. on the other hand, although i got nearly a perfect score on the ACT and the writing SAT (those were once separate ... but for those of you who were not born when i took these tests, i got 1 wrong from my writing SAT) ... but i didn't really do very well on the regular SAT AT ALL. well enough to get into great schools, esp. w/ the writing SAT and ACT as well as the fact that I was going to be the valedictorian and held the highest class rank until I decided to drop it altogether to skip a grade to get away from my "bullies" so i had to work HARD, fitting into one school year (during which i was sick for about 4 months) two full academic school years. i did it though. on the other hand, i dated a guy who got a nearly perfect SAT and he didn't do so well on his ACT but he was incredibly smart and got into a CA-based school to deal with ... a very difficult branch of physics. but he gave it all up to be near his home ... and the story gets sadder from there. so in short, a couple of "anecdotes" that prove that IQ and "standardized testing" are not one and the same. oh, just by the by, the second example of the physicist-to-be? he went to a crap school, got crap grades, and had to stay an extra year to rectify that. i went to a top research school (in the world) and i think my gpa is like ... 3.96 as of now ... and i am chasing my dreams while he seems to have forgotten about his. so ... it also depends what you want out of life in a lot of ways.
Now that everyone in America goes to online college, we need a video on how to succeed at online courses
Lol
In India we attend online classes at home
Thanks for the info. I’m a sixth grader who had some troubles studying. This is very useful. Keep up the good work!👍🏻
Proud of you!!!!
Good job mate. Now the most important step left is taking action
Good job keep it up!!

He really is giving us a guide to becoming top students. I hope to do the same!
Your profile picture is the same of my whats app profile😂😂😂
By far the most useful video I've watched for a long time! Short, easy and to the point! 10/10

Since we all are home anyways due to COVID19, lets study at least!!! 😕
yayyy
I’m a tech major & I love this channel!

They don't. They rarely actually call and check. It's more of an honor system
- Spaced Repetition - don't cram
- Active Recall - test yourself, challenge yourself
- Interleaving - alternate topics
- Concrete Examples -
- Dual Coding
Thank you for always providing great content Dr.Jubbal!💪
Let’s CRUSH med school💪🏼🔥
Hey @medschoolinsiders, could you do a video on how to study from home and what the best way is to stay productive and not procrastinate or burn out?
Just got into my first week of getting consistent with Anki thanks to your consistent videos
How much do I love this channel ! Liked the video even before watching cause you come up with stuff that has helped me so much. Thank you !

Just Commenting for the algorithm 💛
Thank you brother i'm improving and i wanna keep learning from you
Med School Insiders I would like to thank you for your great content that has helped me alot to make my study sessions efficient and fun!
Thanks again
You should do a video on metacognition, with examples of how you'd apply it to studying certain medical concepts.
Retaining n spending time on revising usmle qs I struggle with!!!
I want to get in to VET School after my bachelor's degree. Thanks for the tips.
Kevin, great tips, also great animations
Needed this . Thankyou😇
And I love your videos!

Anki is love
I'm a 8th grade student have my final exams hope this help me
I have 15 days till my finals. If I implement these techniques, can I get better results?
Absolutely
@@MedSchoolInsiders so i understand that we should space our reviews apart decently but how often is "decently"?
I lose my strength training during exam periods. I can only get myself to do cardio during those times
Last time I was this early I didn't even know anki existed.
Would Quizlet be a good resource to use for studying in med school? I mean just when it comes to flashcards
How do we get into med schools in usa and uk from countries like India and other countries. As it is very expensive for people in india to go into US for med school.
But, doctors from other countries actually graduate in India tho.
Its in their website...they can help advice you on how to enter med school in the US
Go to a med school in india ...
The only way i know is to do MBBS in India, and than crack the USMLE(US residency/postgraduate program).
you don't
Hey man, great video! I had a question though, how much time should we be giving for each spaced repetition?

very Informative
Love Anki 🥰
What are some ways to “not neglect comprehension” when studying?
if you haven't made a video about it yet, could you make a video on minors as a pre-med student? do you recommend it? is it better if the minor was a scientific subject, or could it be something different like economics? i'm a junior in HS so i want to know what my options are!
Can u eloberate more on the topic of how you use interleaving

Can you please make a video about being an Anesthesiologist? Or Anesthesiologist vs Nurse Anesthetist?
Does interleaving mean to study 3 subjects at the same time ? For example, study the following blocks, each 25 min: A B C A B C ?
Based on the book Make it Stick, I believe the essential idea is to mix it up rather than repeating the same concept or technique. For example, suppose you are learning boxing. Can u get a link to the research articles plz

Few weeks :)
What spaced repetition intervals yield the best long-term results/retention?
how to know the difficulty is the most desirable? what is the balance criterion?
I have a question can you just do one per day or all of them in one day
Can you do a "so you want to be an anesthesiologist" video?
Hi, is anki better than leitner system?
Hello, I was wondering about the re-applicant status. I think it is not explained very well. Is it only to those schools that you have applied the first year, or all schools in general, even if you are applying to them for the first time?? Thank you for your videos, they are a great inspiration!
Whats the up to date evidence based space repetition algorithm?
I am a medical resident in my last year. We have 2 questions for the final exam.what s the best method?
Can you do so you want to be an anesthesiologist
I am in MED school ...... do you think i have to use anki application to be top student ..... i am not vary fund of the application .
When interleaving, does this mean that if I don't understand one topic, I switch on to the other topics?
