    Arugula Microgreens are one of our new favorite micros to grow. Now that we have the systems down They are not only peppery & delicious but they are incredibly healthy too! They are up to 40 times more nutrient dense than mature arugula.
    Arugula microgreens are wonderful for helping keep bones healthy and strong. The same amount of calcium is contained in arugula microgreens as is found in spinach. A benefit of the arugula microgreens is that it has a much lower amount of oxalates compared to spinach, which prevent full calcium absorption.
    Here are just a couple of the many articles/publications you can find about how incredibly awesome arugula microgreens are!

    I don't really know a lot about microfarming, but this tutorial made me feel like I could just hop up and do this on my own! Very well done and I loved how thorough you were with the explanations.

      Thanks! I definitely can use it! Don't give up on microgreens- Arugula is a bit of a challenge, but definitely worth it once you get it down.

    Great video! How much do you water your trays before adding the seed? When you say lights on @ day 4, do you have the lights on 12h and off 12h? You mentioned your first water after the two days in the germination room. How often and how much do you water after that? Any feedback is much appreciated!

      Excellent questions!
      Our Tray making video shows our entire process for getting trays ready for planting. th-cam.com/video/30iAdsjDSCw/w-d-xo.html
      We run our lights on for 18, off for 6.
      We top water coming out of germination, then bottom water once daily from day 2 until the day before harvest. (Don't water 24 hours before harvesting)

    Thanks for your reply, this container had enough holes, it should be the soil that did not allow enough drain.

    I've been testing this out. It takes some figuring out that's for sure. Been doing 3 day germ and 2 day black out to stretch like others have said. Might try one day blackout like you.Trying to get higher a higher yield as mine has been very low. More time under lights I guess.

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That one day without light definitely helps- our goal is not to overstretch.

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes- arugula can be very finicky. We charge $5/package for almost all varieties.

    I did not put weight on it, since it was a small container and when germinated transfered it under grow light and started bottom watering that is all I did and kept it moist gently. I think may be my soil mixture was not a right one or I over seed it in a 4 inches container, but not sure if these are the reason for its slow growth.

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed- the soil may not have enough drainage for arugula.
      Let us know how the next try goes! 👍

    Mike, I started my Arugula in coco coire and it started great, it grew but not over 3/4" and it did not do good ! I was watering morning and afternoon? I think I overwatered and ruined ?

      Arugula is a naturally short Crop... We've actually updated our price to include 1-2 days of blackout. We've updated our growing guide for the coaching stufents, it it's definitely on the list of things new need to (re)film For TH-cam.

    How can I find your trays? I use standard 10x20 trays but your trays' height are smaller and looks perfect for shorter micorgreens.

    I used mixture of peat moss and coco peat to grow arugula in a round 4 inches diameter and 3 inches tall container. it germinated well but not growing and getting worse every day. it is under grow light, I used about 1 gram seed. could you please tell me what is wrong with it and how can I save this arugula? Thanks.

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is likely an issue overwatering or the soil mix holding too much moisture- Arugula does not like to stay wet. Without seeing your process first-hand, that would be where I'd start.

  • @rosa_lin
    @rosa_lin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, I have a doubt. Does Arugula regrow after you harvest it?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While some varieties of microgreens can regrow, Arugula does not seem to be one of them. Either way, we don't suggest regrowing micros if you are consuming them for their health benefits- the most nutrition is in the first growth.

    What is the humidity and temperature of your growing environment. I do exactly the same numbers as your technique shown here yet I still have issues with damping off
