    As i have said before ... because the Speedi had very similar results as i got on the Sous Vide video i did on the Ninja One Lid...OL701... but here you go....The best steak you will ever cook yourself will most likely be done by using the Sous Vide method... Or that has been my experience time and time again... And I can honestly say that I have never had one any better. It is worth the extra time and equipment needed in my opinion. You need some equipment to do it and it can't be done quickly... but if you notice the message I put up in the video it can be a very convenient way to serve people at different times or even offer a window of time for yourself to eat with less pressure on trying to hit a specific time...i love this method for many different situations and I think you will too... This device does it really well but has a couple of issues that needs to be noted before you use it for this type cooking and I think my video will help in pointing out what you should expect when using the Sous Vide function with it.

    Hey John, loved the video! You are the number one guy right now for Ninja Speedi content, I am excited for your next video! It should be some more multi-layered complete meals, to showcase some more weeknight meal ideas with this new gadget.

    Another great video. I’m convinced now to buy prime vs choice since you did the math for us. Going to do this tomorrow in my OL701. Looks delish. Thanks again.

      It seems worth the extra money... especially considering the time invested and not to mention you can't even order prime at most restaurants...

    If you are not going to use a food saver sealer try putting a thick straw in the ziplock bag after sealing most of it and sucking the air out. Then seal as you pull the straw out.

    Thanks, John! I have never used the sous vide function on any of my Ninja devices (I have quite a few), but your sous vide videos really make me want to try it. I normally just air fry my steaks (because I’m impatient)! Think it’s time to try out this sous vide!

    HEY JOHN SAW YOUR SOUS VIDE VIDEO TO THE END. LOOKS GOOD., BUT REALLY FOR ME IT WAS TOO MANY STEPS TO GET THIS QUALITY. I WOULD SEAR THE MEAT LIKE YOU DID. AND THEN SLOW COOK IT FOR AN HOUR AND GET THE SAME THING.. I'M SURE THE QUALITY WAS GREAT, BUT TOOO LONG TO GET IT CONE. I GUESS ITS A MATTER OF CHOICE, THATS FINE. STILL ENJOYED THE VIDEO, VERY INFORMATIVE. WILL BE GETTING MY SPEEDI TUE DEC 6. I MAY TRY THIS OUT YOURS AND MY WAY, SEE WHATS BEST. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO JOHN..

    If you seal the bag till it's almost completely closed. stick a straw in and suck on it really hard. Pulling out all the excess air then finish closing it up so much faster than what you're doing.

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried that and it does work pretty good... just make sure you don't get any raw juice in your mouth...lol... that would not be good in some situations... thanks for watching!

    I'm looking forward to trying this. My sear sauté function doesn't work very well unfortunately. Takes a long time to heat and doesn't get very hot. I have a cast iron pan and gas hob, so that's probably better to finish it anyway.

    Normally you would sear both sides before cooking. It creates a nice crust and the searing locks in the juices. I basically sear both sides and then air fry it. It comes out juicy everytime. Is there a reason that you seared at the end. I’ve never used the Sous Vide function, so I’m curious.

      I don’t think the UK model has this, because in fact I’ve never ever heard of it in my life before, not even sure what it actually does.😂 if someone would like to explain what sou vie is I’d be grateful

    • @GdaySport
      @GdaySport ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sandra Westley "Sous vide" is a French term. Translated is means "under vacuum". Basically you seal your meat in a vac bag, then it is immersed in for the cooking process. Its low temp slow cooking, so you have to have very accurate temp control and water needs to be circulated.

    hello, I'm going carnivore and figuring out the best machine to get. It's between this one because of the sous vide function and the ninja foodi 5 to 1 with the grill function and goes up to 510. Not sure which to get. Would you recommend this one for steaks/beef roasts (even sous vide for them) and bacon and eggs (I guess the sear/saute function for those or air crisp for the bacon. Do you have the ninja foodi 5 to 1? which do you suggest?

  • @sandraf.9409

    I hope this question hasn't already been asked but....could you have put all 4 steaks in the ziploc at one time or do you have to cook only one steak at a time?

    • @chrisckit
      @chrisckit ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With standard sous vide circulators, as many bags as you can without preventing flow. With the odd temperature control John pointed out plus lack of active circulation, I'd test 2 steaks first. Honestly with those apparent shortcomings compared to dedicated sous vide circulators, I'd use the latter. Experiment :)

    I don't really get why it needs a sous vide setting. Surely the sear saute will do the same ,as that is pretty much a hob anyway and can be set to act just like one. I only say this because I'm in the UK and our speedi does not have sous vide or proof as part of the menu choices.

    • @sandrawestley4193
      @sandrawestley4193 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m with you there, never heard sous vide, I’m from the UK too, looking to get the speedi, it looks good for the way we eat, we don’t eat loads of fried foods from the freezer, so decided an airfryer on its own is just a waste of time for us, I want a one pot for pasta or rice etc with the ability to add veg and grill my meat. The only trouble with the speedi is it’s a bit large for our tiny kitchen since we have down sized,

    • @logothaironsides2942
      @logothaironsides2942 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sandrawestley4193 definitely you have to think of the size AND that it needs to have space above it as the steam facility expels upwards and out so not useful if you want it under your cupboards. Also the lid opens upwards which also cant happen under cupboards. Providing you have that covered, its a lovely thing to have.

    Why would anyone do Sous Vide? It takes so long. I would just grill it in my Ninja Grill. Although, you just answered my question about why do Sous Vide. I just don’t think I would want to wait 3+ hours.

      I assume it’s kind of like using a slow cooker. I put a pot roast with vegetables and cook for like 6 hours. You can’t beat the flavor of a slow cooked meal.
