How’s the width? For reference, I mostly use the superblast (1 & 2) and do well with the width. I also used two pairs of the Adios Pro 3, and was okay with their width. Is the Adios Pro 4 wider?
Wow Matt. The AP3 is my current marathon racer and I was excited about the V4 but now as a heel striker I am a little nervous about changing to the V4 for that long of a distance.😅
Definitely go a half size up... check the size guides in centimeters as opposed to Uk & US sizing. Extremely comfortable on longer run Very responsive, Definitely a better ride that Pro3
@@paulmulksit’s been released under raffle situations by Adidas and Running Warehouse among others. Also there have been Paris for purchase available at the major marathons this fall starting at Berlin
As a mid to forefoot striker, with some mild overpronation, (I run in neutral or stable neutral shoes, and have never used stability shoes), will this shoe work? Does it accommodate wider forefeet?
Durability in supershoes like the Pro 2 and 3 is extreme. Although outsole gets worn through the foam itself on the worst contact points, the foam itself is so resilient and has grip in it self. Pro 2 is better after 250 km. Same with Takumi Sen 8-9. But then again people take Vaporfly to 1000 km. No problem.
The outsole is CPU, commonly used in Chinese super shoes. It's known as being ridiculously durable, holding tread past 1000 miles, so of course it's going to show no wear at 100. Drawback is being fairly loud/slappy with a bit less traction.
There are more suitable options for 5-10K runs such as Takumi Sen and upcoming new Adios 9 with full length lightstrike pro. Seems to me this shoe doing whats is supposed to do.
@@hiimgiovi false information, boston 12 has carbon tool and slow paces benefit a lot from carbon + racing foam, more than elite, specially heavy runner that activate the propopulsion at slower paces.
It depends on what you want out of your runs. Are you actively trying to run faster and have plateaued using daily trainers? Then maybe it's worth looking into for $250. But if you are fine with running 5 min/km (which is around what I run too), maybe you opt for a more comfortable shoe that costs half that amount. Both should work at that pace, "value-wise" you just have to decide if you care enough about the ability to run faster and if it's worth the extra money.
@@David-cg7ms nope. Boston does not have a carbon plate… it has glass fiber infused rods. And It is far different from carbon supershoes. Boston12 is a super trainer indeed which is more than enough for 5:00/km pace. I run in boston up to 3:30/km pace and they are fine. Below that I can feel it is not optimal and I use takumi sen 9
For a beginner/'hobby jogger' like myself, the AP3 is a great shoe. Don't think I'll be jumping on this one. Maybe in a few years I'll be ready for a shoe like this lol
Do not underestimate yourself. The shoe looks pretty similar to the old one, just a little softer and bouncier. If you like the Pro 3, I am pretty sure you are gonna get along with this.
I’m slower than the guys doing these reviews but I have tracked reviews of pro 4 as pro 3 was the only super shoe I found on sale as an amateur for a reasonable price . I’m on my a second pair as I really liked the durability and tempo speed day versatility of adidas pro 3. glad to hear the pro 4 is still durable . I’m not sure about the toe box fit issue ; that might be a deal breaker for me .
Love the Ap3. I’m primarily a forefoot striker but left foot starts to be more forefoot to almost heel with fatigue, aiming for a sub 3 hour. Would this be fast enough for this to have an advantage over the ap3?
Could you please list the amount of miles you were able to run with previous super shoes? I seem to remember another creator ran over 800km in his Vaporflys 2. Obviously some performance degradation is expected as well as the mileage increases. That would be a great video! Thanks.
Yes. We need durability not just fast and aggressive. Some of my racing shoes don’t bother run again a marathon and turned into a daily trainer after due buying another pair colour way or new other brand racing shoe or newer version.
Isn’t the adios pro 3 one of the most durable super shoes out there? It’s also a bit confusing because at the beginning of this video you said the poppiness of the foam at faster paces in the AP4 went away pretty quickly, so wouldn’t that imply the foam is less durable?
From about 7:30 onwards he compares how AP4 provides “tons more life” after about 100 miles than the AP3 did. Seems to contradict what he said earlier in the video about the bounciness being noticeably less after about 50 miles. The AP3 is also widely known has one of the more durable super shoes, and it’s strange to me that the AP4 which is lighter (and presumably less outsole thickness?) and has more compliant foam would be more durable.
It's difficult to know really as most super shoes lose their maximum pop pretty early in their lifespan, but can continue to be great for speed work for a long time before the foam is dead. AP3 and AF3 are great examples where many runners take them up to 500 miles and beyond, but aren't really doing competitive running with them past the 150 mile point. But this is hard to parse as he's saying it's rather significant... who cares about the outsole if the foam is dead at 300 miles. TPU can last like 1000 miles on Chinese supershoes this isn't some amazing insight.
@ yea exactly. it’s not clear what he’s referring to when he says “durability”. I’m guessing he’s referring to the fact that the outsole is still fully intact, which is rare for him, but I’d say that’s not really useful info for most runners as we don’t rip out the outsole of our shoes after 100miles (or ever tbh)
David, with regard to barely getting the AP3 to 100 miles, did you wear out the outsole or did the foam die? I'm only asking because I'm a slow, midfoot/forefoot striker who doesn't wear outsoles very much, but I am heavy (200 lbs), so I tend to kill shoes by beating the foam to death. So how the foam holds up over time is the thing I look at when assessing a shoe's durability.
too bad, I live in the tropics. If you don't have environmentally controlled storage... midsole seperation happens way before anything 😅😓 year 2 or 3 considering you have a large rotation.
"v3 was decent I managed to get it to 100 miles" bro out here talking about 100 miles as if its achievement thats like 1 month use I'd be suing company if any shoe didnt last a month 😂

I got 1500km from my Adios Pro V3. The most resilient super shoe out there IMO
The heel tab is to make it easier to pull it on

yes sizing guide truly matters

44
Did you size up compared to your normal size or the size of your AP3?

Would you say that I can get value from these on 5:00/km paces? or am I better of using trainers instead.
No need for carbon shoes at that pace! Go for something less aggressive like a boston12. More than enough
