    It's so interesting that two shoes can be so good and fast and yet feel completely different. I love that there is no "best" shoe, theres a ton of shoes and you just gotta find the one that works best for you. What a great time to be a runner!

      If only we could just test run all of them without having to pay for them lol. I was sold on the Vaporfly until they came out with the VP3. I have the Asics Metaspeed Edge Paris but as much as I like it i am not totally sold on it. I feel that the Endorphin geometry / rocker fits me better but have not tried the Endorphin Pro line. I tried the Elite 1 but did not like the upper so I returned it.
      I am now very curious between this show AP4 and the Endorphin Elite 2 for my next shoe. One very important feature for me is that the tongue is either stitched, gusseted or the upper is a one piece. As far as I know there are only 3 or 4 super shoes that fit that criteria.

    I'm so glad you talked about the Alphafly 3s because I currently have a pair and I'm not a fan of the smacking noise (although people know you're coming up behind them on a run) but the rickety rigidness is not enjoyable for me. I hope the Adios Pro 4 can be a great alternative to the Alphafly 3. Great job as always Ko!

    Great Review, I own the AF3 and the AP3, and for me the AP3 feels better, more reactive, more responsive, feels like something is pushing you forward, with AF3 it feels to soft for me, not so responsive, is a great shoe but as you say it will depend of the runner who is wearing it. I’m pretty excited for the AP4, hope they don’t sell out too quickly

    I'm very excited about the Adios Pro 4. However, as a shoe retailer store manager, something that most people liked about the Adios Pro 3 is that it was a good shoe for slower runners that don't run faster paces. People that run 10-11 min/miles didn't feel like you needed to be a faster runner to get the best out of it. I'm afraid the aggressive new rocker will make this shoe not slow runner friendly.

      No one that’s running 10-11 min/miles has any business spending that much money on a super shoe. I’m all for the democratization of running tech, it’s objectively awesome, but that’s an absolutely insane choice of shoe.

      Even as a 6:30ish/mile half marathoner I told myself Im not getting a super shoe until my mile times are in the 5 minute range. I think if your mile times are 10/11 minutes you should probably work on getting to a better BMI and slowly building weekly mileage volume comfortably. And there is nothing comfort about carbon plates. Just my two cents.

    • @Powellcon_
      @Powellcon_ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I found the SL2 much faster but definitely less stable than the Supernova. The fit of the SL2 needs work, they gave me the worst ankle bite of any shoe and tore up my Achilles, They should have copy pasted the Boston 12 fit because its perfect.

    • @Powellcon_
      @Powellcon_ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Boston 12 could easily replace the SL2 and Supernova Rise with 1 shoe. Boston 12, Adios Pro 3/4, and Prime X Strung 2 is the best marathon rotation.

    • @michelberaud4454
      @michelberaud4454 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Powellcon_ I agree with you regarding the SL2 being faster (and fun) than the Supernova. But for higher volume with less injuries, the SN is my go to for 99% of users. I didn't experience the same issues with the SL2, but did with the B12. It's the only reason why I use it less and only keep it for long runs that exceed 15k (since I find that the SL top out at about that distance) and that will at some point require faster tempo. But man, is the fitting cumbersome. In addition, that's why I chose the Puma Elite 3 over the Pro3, because I've heard too many complaints about the upper. I will however purchase the Pro4 for my 2025 marathons and probably the upcoming Evo SL to replace the B12 :)

    • @michelberaud4454
      @michelberaud4454 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Powellcon_ Again, for me the B12's upper is just to problematic. On most days, I don't need to spend 15min on getting the proper fitting and an energy rod. One just laces up the SN in 2 seconds and GO :)

  • @mfcc1084
    @mfcc1084 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The updates they did in this 4th version are working for me so far. The softer Lightstrike Pro (LSP) is something I appreciate giving a soft ride to a bit of aggressive geometry. The upper is a significant improvement from version 3. It feels more comfortable and I can get a race snug fit quicker in version 4. The softer foam though is a concern for me especially from the durability standpoint. I hope it doesn't bottom-out quickly.
    I believe the LSP midsole of the Evo 1 has been recently called Lightstrike Pro Evo to distinguish it from the standard LSP. The LSP Evo is airier, more cushioned but probably less durable.
    Thanks for the review and keep up the good work. 😊

      there's a lot of similarity in the lacing, although I found it a bit easier to dial in the fit of the Adios Pro 4 because of the difference in eyelets near the toes. I think there is a bit of a difference in the grippiness of the other eyelets as well.

      there's only one other brand that I can think of that will have people race in the shoe, several months prior to the launch date, and I don't like it when that brand does it either. and while I get (and was encouraging for months) the need to have a shoe update for the 50th Berlin Marathon that they are a sponsor of and is held in their home country, I wish the broader release would have followed.
      like, imagine if it was like: (1) Berlin debut, (2) Chicago limited drop, (3) New York colorway, and then (4) January 2025 release.
      I recognize that so many things need to line up in order to get inventory in the right places in the world at the right times and in the right quantities, but man that would have been an impressive rollout.

    • @michaelcaricoo
      @michaelcaricoo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @kofuzi Absolutely. I can understand that coordinating inventory across multiple continents is tricky (not that they don't already have those systems in place but still), but I feel like with a company the size of Adidas they could have had at least a limited launch for Chicago and NYC as well as berlin. That could have offered at least a token gesture to the common folk that they aren't forgotten about (not to sound dramatic), and that they can have a chance to get it for their race, and not just the media folks. I am happy that most other brands are still, at least on what we see on this side, holding to the 1ish month embargo drop to release. Oh well, I will say in general I was disappointed with Adidas' presence at Chicago, I expected to at least be able to pick up a Takumi or AP3, I get that it's very much their competitors event but just having the Supernova and Ultraboost was disappointing, especially when folks like Puma brought things like the Fast RB, Asics had the full spectrum, etc

    You don't have to disclose. Anything. Knowing you admire BITR, I will use them as a counterpoint. They disclose no shoe origins. Ever. Not the fact that they get every reviewed shoe for free. Usually several pair. (They only got a single Evo 1.)
    They most certainly don't tell us who pays for their flamboyant trips all over the world. The Diadora trip to Italy? Just a little vacay. Sometimes a sponsor is mentioned for the flight/hotel/entry/pre- and post-race festivities for a marathon. NB for NYC one year. Could'nt tell if they plugged adidas during the Berlin trip. (I didn't listen to their long-form show about it.)
    They don't even admit to being married. You have, of course discussed this with them, but we, the viewers are never told. And they certainly don't confess to how the hundreds of shoes they review get there.
    Some say you HAVE TO disclose. Some say it is illegal NOT to. But Believe never has. Ever. And nothing has happened to them.

    Very informative!
    In comparison to the Takumi Sen 10, will the AP4 be a more effective race shoe for 5K to 10K events?
    Considering the weight savings of the AP4 (similar weight to TS10), more bouncier foam and 60% rocker, although there's a big difference in terms of stack height.
    Or will the AP4 be somehow "overkill" for 5K to 10K racing?

    Thanks for the insight of Alphafly3. I've never seen anyone say an issue with the material at the ankle before. It cuts one of my ankles, after running only 10km with long socks, a red mark remained on the ankle and now the shoes are in a box. I was thinking how to solve the problem, because the store did not take the shoes back. Maybe add another shoe sole. There were no problems with the first version or Vaporfly 1, 2, 3.

    • @kofuzi

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't seen anyone do any sort of formal or even anecdotal research on this. so I'll speculate and here's my thinking:
      on the one hand, shoes are made out of materials that I imagine won't biodegrade for several thousand years. on the other hand, having seen shoes in the Adidas Archive that were from the 80s and are literally crumbling apart despite being stored in a humidity and temperature controlled space, my gut reaction would be that it would depend on who you're getting the shoe from and how the shoe was stored over time.
      so I would venture a guess of:
      2 years old? probably fine. 5 years old? I'd probably stay away.
