- I'm LEAVING Pattaya for the long open roads and tangled jungle of North Western Thailand. In today's video I consider some possible modes of transport and provide maps of my proposed ITINERARY.
I'm asking for your assistance to help chart a course from Pattaya to Chiang Mai with many many stops in between. After much pressure from long time channel members I've caved in and decided to forgo the familiarity and comforts of Pattaya Chon Buri - in exchange for the adventure and undocumented regions of non-tourism Thailand.
Make no mistake, it will be challenging. The roads are hairy, the food is strange, (the food is sometimes hairy as well), the weather is unpredictable and the heat can cause heatstroke and death. In many towns there's simply NO english spoken. Thailand beyond the city limits is truely another world and something that I need to document by myself in order to grow and build on my knowledge and experience. I imagine there'll be significant pain at times, particularly finding veg only foods and accomodation, with or without A/C haha.
I will appreciate any knowledge and insight anyone cares to offer along the way.

I used to have similar thoughts about travelling alone on a motorbike and the things that could go wrong. What I have learnt is that most people are inherently good, and kind people will help you on your journey. In fact, some of these things that "went wrong" turned out to be the most memorable experiences.
Mae Sot is an interesting place, it would be rewarding to get a Burmese perspective on current events in the region.

Yes, full support. Most of the local tubers have gone complacent, rarely filming beyond their neighbourhood or city. You are the man to fill that gap.
I mean - I hope so - but remember there is no guarantee people are interested in watching it. Views matter. Some TH-camrs try to branch out and are sad their "best" videos get 1/10th the views of the "boring" ones.

Also seeing you step out of your comfort zone and exploring the unknown is what travelling all about.. I'm very intrigued about experiencing the refugee camps. I befriended a janitor where I work. He's from Myanmar and his mom helped him escape into Thailand when he was a young boy. He was in the camp for 20 years! His mom stayed back in Myanmar in order to scrounge enough money to to get him a plane ticket and enough money to get started in America. He came here alone without knowing English. One thing I found crazy was I didn't know a lick of Thai. I tried speaking some basic Thai with him but he had no clue. To think he was there for 20 years and never experienced actually being in Thailand. His whole 20 years of life was shelled into a confined area. Anyway, he has a family of his own now. He has just a small house but to him it's paradise. He works incessantly, but he never complains because he's giving his family the life he never had.

They were raw and real and the stories told were unbelievable. I know nothing about traveling Thailand and motorbikes but the one thing I can say is follow your gut and instinct. I devoted a trip to yucatan mexico to see Mayan structures. they were all unique and incredible. one site fascinated me. it had been diminished to a pile of bricks, and there distinguished archaeologists were working to put it back together. I got as close to the action as I could, past do not enter signs, cement mixer whirring away. finally an on site tourist guy blew his whistle with a warning, get the h--- away from there. no harm, no foul. but if they took me away to local police, it would have been worth it.

Great Sam, everyone here is so excited to see your trip videos as they will be very interesting and entertaining. Just be aware if you leave anytime soon you’ll get rain in some of the other provinces heading towards North it’ll probably be more safe if you leave mid November. Also, your bike might have problems (might) so be ready for that. What takes a car 11-12hrs to reach Chiang Mai will take you 16+. Yes I know you will do it in a couple of days, Traffic can sometimes dangerous to on the highway, but saying that many have done the trip on bikes. We all want you to be safe this trip. I would love to connect with you if possible before you begin your trip if it’s ok with you. Stay safe 👍

man so happy to hear your plans... you will love this time of your life I tell you... I did the same with my old campertruck 5 years ago... hardest but also best time of my life... definitely recommend getting a tent and go to campsites. 50 bath per night and you life super cheap. now cold season starting soon so amazing time for camping. definitely go to khao kho in phetchabun... best place in thailand. would love to join you on this trip man... maybe soon I have more time for such adventures XD

A idea that might be good for U is to do daily live streams bro even if just for an hour a day then upload them to let the audience experience your journey on the trip. I really think it can boost your channel growth and less workflow since it's all live. Something for U to consider bro

@@GoneAdrift I honestly think it can fast track your growth yeah still put out your videos every 3 days but also a 1 or 2 hour live stream every day then no editing it just throw it up on the channel so U also getting views on it since not everyone can watch live due to different time zones and what not but I do think it's going to get U subs and views so much faster. I think that's what I'd do if I was in Thailand and was trying to build an audience. The rawness of it all will make U stand out for others I'm no TH-cam expert by any means U doing much better than me I hope to get monetized next year. That's just my opinion on a idea that I do think will work for U since U already have a channel that has some traction already so surely the algorithm will push your live streams out to even more viewers and you will not be doing anything different from what ud be doing anyway throughout the trip just have a camera filming it for a hour or 2 a day

Paddy's Ha Giang loop videos are insanely good, but half of that was the drone footage. The way he got that drone to fallow him was professional. Bring 2 back up batteries at least. Your drone footage will be huge. Best of luck to you mate.

After going nowhere but Bangkok for my first 5 trips,it was great to explore.Now have a house with my girlfriend and family in Buriram.Live village life.Enjoy! Cant wait.😅👍
The biggest advice I would give you is to wait for the rainy season to end in the next couple of weeks. You’re going to be dealing with many unfamiliar issues, so why add to it with high humidity and rainy weather?

Nan Province is the place to go. Wonderful experiences there on a motor bike trip a few short years ago and still not crawling with tourists. Beautiful scenery, excellent roads, authentically helpful friendly people everywhere you go. Keep away from the refugee sadness, there’s enough bad news everywhere we look. This is a great move on your part, even though your one of the very few who can still make Pattaya footage interesting because of your genuine and authentic nature it’s a smart move to make a change.

I think a great idea for a video once you get up there would be a visit to Bua Tong sticky waterfalls , it’s about 45 minutes north of Chiang Mai,.. ya don’t really see it advertised anywhere and it was recommended to me in 2017, I took a ride up there and it was well worth the ride

Consider going a bit farther north to Mae Hong Son before cutting over to Chiang Mai. There's some amazing roads and mountain driving around there.

Good one man its what you need, quite sick of pattaya to be honest there's so much more out there to discover, best thing I did was hire a car for a week from expat car hire and got all over the place in the north east, was so good, cant wait to get more to the north east and even out to the west where you're thinking, nice one!!

You're quite right. There so many interesting places with very few TH-camrs and Pattaya is the opposite. For an easy start to your trip, you could stop off at some of the towns before Bangkok. Sriracha. Bang Saen. Tens of thousands of people per day whiz past them going to and from Pattaya and never see them. I really think you should upgrade the scooter though. The trade-off for the danger of going near the border is you might get some awesome, interesting experiences. The trade-off for the danger of using an old scooter is ... well, honestly, none that I can think of. You want something with the power and agility to get you out of trouble if a sleepy truck driver is coming at you.
Just be safe and take a simple medical kit…. Will be awesome to see you accomplish this but yeah just stay safe Sam….
That seat looks firm. It is a good idea to take the bike book with you as well, and keep it with you, not in the bike.
reminds me when I was working, many retirees moved to Las Vegas NV. hot desert climate, gambling casinos culture. why move there? real estate was cheap and sprawling suburbs. people had something else to do. they never went in a casino, except restaurants were inside them, very few free standing restaurants. now in pattaya, it would have been interesting how covid changed the city. a big date would be going to 7/11.
