Isaan broke me
A phone call from the Thai village in Isaan came at a bad time for me. Grandma's roof collapsed. I diverted money from the Pattaya house repairs to Isan to try and quickly build the family new shelter.
UPDATE:
I've now left the village and made it to Cambodia for my visa renewal trip. The outpouring of love from viewers has been monumental. Donations in the last 48 hours amounted to over $1000aud. I am feeling so humbled. Lele is staggered. The contributions from you generous souls will fund the completion of the ceiling on the new farm house and fund 5 new beds and other furniture.
As for the DOG, I've left cash with the most reliable auntie. She can be seen in the footage working out in the field. She's the one most capable of providing care now for the dog. She runs a corn farm down the road, has her own income and will spend the money on the dog and not elsewhere. He's a Soi dog and will not let anyone touch him or put him in a car. Painkillers and a course of anti-biotics will have to suffice for now. At the time of writing this he's walking effectively on 3 legs and ceased whimpering. The next video I'm editing right now will introduce you to Lele's dad's side of the family, their flourishing farm business and their warm & loving home life.
I've sent emails and messages to the generous people who donated but a big THANK YOU to everyone who watched and commented is also in order. We've been able to resolve the issues mentioned in the original video description and I hope this marks the end of the turmoil. Onwards and upwards

    Sad to hear about the house mate, I’m going to give you my opinion, remember it is just my opinion, but I am in a very similar situation to yourself, my girl has 3 kids from her previous husband (which I now consider them mine and would do anything for them) and family in issan, we recently brought the kids to live with her in Jomtien as we feel they will get a better education & quality of life, they were also living in a run down shack that was falling apart with the grandmother who is struggling to look after herself let alone 3 children , so we made the call for the benefit of all. All this as you know is not cheap even in a third world country , I know you have the dream of wanting to support yourself & Lele and family on the back of digital media, but you need to be realistic, this could take years if at all, and the children’s bills will keep coming, they will not wait until/if you make the big league in YT…You are a young man with a long life in front of you, (and now your family) someone else mentioned thinking about coming back to Australia , for a short period and cashing up, you should seriously consider this, 3mth working in Australia will go along way for the rest of the year in Thailand, even try FIFO, I am currently doing this work 2 weeks in Australia and than spend my RnR with my girl & family in Jomtien , Perth to Bangkok direct now $750 return 7hrs flight would I far sooner live full time in Thailand with my family ? Hell yes , but I’m a realist and understand my family needs money now to give them a better life, in 3-4 years we will be in a position (hopefully) I can live full time in Thailand but right now, it can’t be due to financial circumstances. If you have to leave Thailand for a short term to get money, it is not a failure, do not think that, it is a sign of maturity and that you care enough to give Lele & her family a better life now, it’s not easy to leave your loved ones to do it , but do it knowing it’s for the greater and long term good.. Don’t become a internet begger , it is not a guaranteed income Just my opinion, and I wish you nothing but the best, but remember as long as you are with Lele , you have family commitments 🙏🙏

    Lets say it does work. More people more money. Raises the cost of living. The Thai don't get paid more unless they own businesses. They are forced out of their homes, can't afford the rent raises, or forced to sell because the cost of living goes up even faster. Work remote at 60k US dollars. Do Thai citizens get to work remote for other countries as well to increase their average living wages?

Take care of your business like a man by paying your own way, you are more than capable of that. Was that market in Det Udom? It looked familiar. I live in Koh Samui but my wife is from there. Also, the school looked familiar. I think my wife's two granddaughters used to go there. Take the road towards Ubon and turn right just after a wat on the left. There's a sign saying something about a technical college at the top of the road where you turn off. Good luck with looking after the family. I have done my fair share over the 22 years that my wife and I have been married. I have a question and more to your girl friend than yourself, and please don't take this any way but a genuine question, but would the kids have a better pathway to a better career or future if they were living in a city rather than a rural area ? it is for economical reasons they are there, just a question not judging ,

    • @GoneAdrift
      @GoneAdrift 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree wholeheartedly. The village provides quality supervision and child care. But….. The boys were born in Pattaya, into an affluent home with a committed mum and a farang dad who provided financially. Their trajectory was VERY good at one point. Catch 22, the twins barely remember their parents as they were young when they died. Grandma is mum now and Lele is the provider now. If I was financially stable, retired in Pattaya, I’d push hard to get them down here. I work 7 days out of 7 per week here and Lele, almost the same. I’d say the kids are better looked after in the village than we could do on the coast. On a positive note, my channel and associated businesses are growing and in maybe two years, if we have success renting the house out at the right price - moving the boys to Pattaya may just be viable. Regular visits to Pattaya in the interim would be ideal, to expose the boys to all the metropolitan things they miss out on up in the village. Lele’s daughter is doing well. She’s thriving at her new school and qualified for a part scholarship this month. Lele moved the daughter up there when I began renovating the house in Pattaya but now she has the option to return. At the moment she wants to stay with the boys.

      @@GoneAdrift yes understood, that is terrific re the scholarship. well done her. as said was just a question, I think Lele is doing an amazing job with circumstances that are in no way her own doing, Given you are working lots and perhaps not making the money you were, Would it be of any value to return to Aus briefly to get a bigger base behind you, you know you have the foundations now for you Thai life, you have th great girl, return work for 6 months and have a $30/40K or more base behind you.. Just a thought my friend, you obviously have a grea work ethic, and not afraid to put in the yards, 6months to a year could set yourself up for the next 10 Any way keep on making the videos,

    I live in a small village too and that “jealousy” thing is disgustingly real. My wife is getting much better about saying, “No” and not worrying about being guilted into solving all the neighbors problems or worrying about their feelings towards her/us. While it makes zero sense to us, that is so embedded into the culture. The Land of Smiles……riiiiight.

    Interesting video. So you were at the food market, you filmed some seashells, make sure you have the right tone when you say it in Thai (hoi)......otherwise it can get a completely different meaning :), guess you know what? haha
