Cheers mate! It's certainly one of those species on many kayak fishos bucket lists. Tough one to crack, that's for sure

Kia ora bro, my name is Kawana Waititi. I’m an avid watcher of your videos and I enjoy them heaps. Thank you for your awesome content. I just want to let you know about some of the species around the area you are diving/ fishing, which is my home - Whangaparaoa - Te Whānau a Kauaetangohia. The Blue Moki is a very sacred ika to our people of Whangaparaoa and is our treasured taonga. Instead of asking you not to shoot them etc I’d be keen to explain to you why it is a treasured ika to our people of the area and to share context and kōrero. Next time you are heading down, let me know and I’ll make some time to share with you. Ngā mihi, Kawana.

Kia ora Kawana. That's really special to hear about the sacred nature of this ika to you and your home, so thank you for your comment! I'd love to hear more about this, and anything else you have to share about the area and the creatures that reside there. Whangaparaoa is a truly magical place, and I feel super grateful to be able to spend time there regularly. Recently when I was there I was told about the meaning of the name Whangaparaoa. I enjoyed hearing about this and it would be cool to learn more.
Next time I head there I would definitely like to catch up - can you please send me a DM on facebook or instagram so I can let you know when I'm next heading down. Thank you. Greg
