I CAUGHT MY DREAM FISH - Bass (Grouper) From a Kayak

- Well it's been a long time coming... after putting in some serious mahi deep water slow pitch jigging, I've landed the chunky grouper I was chasing. I always thought a bass would be a species it would take a long time to catch, and I would have to be in some seriously deep water to achieve that, but what do you know, the magic has happened, and in relatively accessible waters! It always pays to have a line wet.

Shot mate, well deserved fish
Cheers bro - at last!
what lb braid r u using on ur overhead jig set up?
Penn Slammer 40lb braid. Works a gem 👍🏽
how do you even load that massive yak on the car?
It's not too bad - I put a thick bath mat on the roof between the roof racks and slide it up.
That was SICK! Was it on the 40lb braid?! What depth exactly was that one? How old were your pedal drive when it died? I own a Siren XL by dream kayaks ( made in china) it is a pedal yak too, as many Native Pedal kayaks users, I did the "Oil convertion", which means to replace the grease for car engine oil inside the pedal drive, so all the gears are full bathing on oil. This is a game changer, any squeak disappears forever, the pedal goes like butter, quieter and super smooth. I go hard offshore as you do, last year I opened up just to check, and everything is perfect, no sigsn of water intrusion, sweet as. th-cam.com/video/5iXfHY0jm_A/w-d-xo.html Here is where I got the idea from, in case you consider. Tight lines!
Cheers mate! 30lb braid I think! The pedal drive was approx 6 or 7 years old - I bought it secondhand though so I can't be sure. I've greased the hell out of my new drive, so it should be sweet for a while. I'll have a look at that video though - can't hurt to swap the grease for oil I guess!
