The only down side is you can't look up levels, you can't upload levels, there's no Costume Mario, and all features are locked up in a mini game you HAVE to play if you want them all.

Hey, watchmojo. I was able to have recreated the boss battle of king boo in mario party 9, but as a combination.

I use a lot of these methods and my levels still don't get enough love. I've tried every thing possible, but Panga, who makes levels so hard that they're virtually unbeatable and NOT fun gets so much recognition... he literally took the same time to make levels like me. I like creative levels, not levels that are unfair and impossible.
I knew they'd use RubberRoss as at least one example! He's a diabolical genius...
I made a lot of boss battle levels. For example, Link vs. Omega Bowser, Boss: Omega Bowser. Bowser Jr. took the Airship, boss: Bowser Jr. (you play as bowser), and Toad Must Save Mario, Boss: Kamek and Kamek's pet.

I made two really good ones. Pikachu vs. Bowser Jr. and fight fire with fire and kill Jr. BTW, take the title of the second course literally if you want to succeed.

You can download levels, you just can't search for them.
You're playing the 3DS version of the game then? Still baffles me that the 3DS version doesnt have any online connectivity at all. It's not like the thing is incapable of it... they just didnt bother putting it in there.
Misery It has internet connectivity, you just miss out on some SUPER KEY features I.e. uploading levels, or searching for a specific level.
You can still download levels, but it's luck of the draw as far as if you'll find cool levels or not.
Misery Who needs onlinegaming? I would never use my 2ds to play with some morons.
One thing I would add is the fact that boss fights were barely possible until the key and key door came along, but the 3Ds version players didn't have to wait.

I could think of a top 10 Mario Maker ideas list that, unlike this one, is ACTUALLY interesting, since everyone knows everything on this one. We got midairs, Multicape, spring jumps, pow drops, ceiling bonks, inverted pipe entries, diagonal dropkicks, fire climbs, max speed flight, and spinfly tech, just to name a few

All of this is basic Mario maker knowledge learned in under a couple hours on TH-cam by watching other people play Mario maker
Sherk Then it's no basic knowledge. It would be Basic Mario Maker knowledge if it would have been taught from the start, not through watching Let'sPlays. Besides, the Let'sPlays I watched hadn't something like "building Robots out of some parts" in it.
just look at other levels that people make its not a secret plus the game tells you u can place and stack stuff which means u have infinite creativity so putting thwomps any where or putting bullet bills on spring boards is not a secret at all and nothing is hidden about the robot lots of people do Mario maker lets plays and sure enough they play through levels with those robots so u can copy that robot design, And there is a very popular bide made by a kid who explains even more advanced functions.

hey, another cool one: The Haunted Clowncart!
Simply put a BOO RING, or boo circle, in a clowncart. That's literally it. When playing, the clowncart looks like it's moving on it's own, surrounded by boos. Even cooler, if you manage to jump through the boo ring and land in the clowncart, the boo's disband, and the clowncart is yours! This can make for a good haunted house miniboss!

#0: alter the level musically. Sure, we've all seen automatic levels that bounce elements off of music blocks to create complex songs, but by using a few less conveyor belts and sound effects, well placed blocks can change the feel of the background music of a level, lightening up a castle stage with a few added chords, or add enough dissonance to lessen even the cheeriest Mario world course. Super Mario maker can pique curiosity with note blocks, and in some cases, perhaps even allow people to teach themselves about music theory

Another notable thing about the "boos in clown cars" idea is that boos, when inside clown cars, can no longer go through solid blocks.
i knew all of these, but i still learned one thing:whatever they say watchmojo is great
I'm surprised they didn't say anything about using the fire clown car with the boos. If you use a boo, it will charge up a shot that can break the brick blocks, freeze in place, then shoot straight forward. This makes for some great puzzles as well.

My Nintendo 3ds was stolen, It had super mario maker and was my favorite game on it. I made many levels but cant recover them, and my favorite was this one called the Never-Ending World of Warping, where when you go into a pipe or door it brings you to a new room was more pipes, it is like a maze and you find the way out and I even hid a mini auto level at the end. I also think that you can make auto-levels that go through and make you win withought moving ahould have been on this list, but great vid

I knew all of this, I hate it when channels make videos with titles like this. Why do assume that I didn't know any of this, a better title would be '10 Mario Maker things you might not know' or '10 Mario Maker things you probably didn't know. I respect that this video is for people who maybe are new to the game or don't know all of the mechanics but don't just make a generalisation that nobody who before watching this didn't know any of the things you showcased. Most of the things in this video were for both the 3DS version and the Wii U version and the Wii U version has been out for at least a year - it came out in 2015, at the time of typing this its a couple of days away from 2017 - and I would think that most people would know most of this stuff. And yes, I know that some people can't get a game within the first few months of the release date but I got this game - the Wii U version - in early October and I knew all of this so don't go around expecting people not to know any of this despite the time it has been out. I'm not saying that the video is bad, it's quite good for beginners but try not to make such a generalisation. Thank you for reading my slightly long comment.

I once made a level with a really fast ice block train and one single propeller mushroom. The track was unpredictable and long, and if you died, there was a checkpoint, but you were punished by not having the mushroom.
I like how most of these are things that about 95% of the community knows. They know about semi solids, they know that bullet bills can bounce on trampolines and most of these aren't even ideas
I also found out the you can stuck pipes spawning enemies or etc making it more challenging
I always thought of the idea of doing a collab on Mario Maker for the Wii U, since i don't have Mario Maker for the 3DS.

I've made a somewhat crude contraption that allows Mario to pick a ? block and only one ? block. It's part of my larger Zero Time Dilemma level.
pipestacking, AE, placing 5 pipes on the same area, or hiding one in plain sight lets you have multiple objects come out or enter a pipe you didnt think you could.
As a child, I drew my own Mario levels on paper and wished I could make them for real. Now, looking at the Mario Maker levels, I'm like "I could never make anything that creative or awesome, why even bother!" But, I'm gonna do it anyway. Wonder if I can find any of my old stuff.
I like to make logic levels like for example of the end of the level there is a those dark koopas with spike on it and to beat the level you have to carry koopa shell at the hole time.

I don;t own a Wii U and never planned n getting one but wanted to play mario maker. Funny thing is. Mario maker 3DS (according to the trailer) allows you to play Wii U levels as well.
In Super Mario Maker for the Wii U I made 5 (Technically 6 because I did a sixth one not to be uploaded) levels called the "Can You Explain This," level series, with a hard level but different ways to reach a shortcut, and beat the level.
Now I have 7.
