  • 4/3/2023 - The guys came back from Specialty Metal Roofing to continue with the outside paneling efforts. They managed to work for 2 days before scheduling and weather kept them away. I am making this on May 11 and weather looks a bit nuts for the next 2 weeks (rainy). They do not work in most any type of weather conditions since the metal gets very slick, understandably.
I decided to put this short video out just to show the progress (and some lack thereof), but at least something is happening, just not quick enough.
The guys installed the flashing, soffit and paneling on the garage side and back and completed those walls! YAY! We thought they were on a roll but they were called to another job (problem job) in San Antonio so we'll be in a bit of a delay. In the upcoming weeks in May the weather did not cooperate and is sliding the schedule further out as I post this video. Dang it!
We are using the soffit paneling we got from Bill (from the spare building we have piled in front of the house - can't wait to clean that up! ).
The spare building has been in the elements for a bit of time and the soffit and a few other items have plastic protection on them, and they are very fun to peel. We have to pass on many of the panels since the film is burnt and very hard to remove. Luckily we have a lot to pick from and Angie and I got about 10 20ft panels ready for Job and his crew. We want to do some busy work so the guys can concentrate on installing the stuff.
Small and short progress and although not super critical, it is interfering in our overall progress on the house, especially in the back. We need to get going on the rear deck but cannot since Job and his guys will need access to the 2nd floor. I may cheat a bit and start building the first platform of the deck at the rear of the door. We'll see.
We have also decided that to help keep things rolling we'll be doing some of the paneling installation but mostly in the ground level stuff. I can install the main flashing, even around the windows and keep things rolling.
Obviously we have never done anything like this before so it will be interesting. I've been watching and learning from the guys so we should be able to put a dent into the schedule, at least a little bit. We truly want the paneling to be done!!!
Anyways, thanks for watching and really appreciate the support from friends and family - Keep it coming. We love the house, just wish the outside was DONE and DONE!
PS: the inside is 99% done. Just have to hang a dart board and finish touch-up paint in the garage! YAY!
    CYA
