The final boss segment is fucking amazing and completely took me by surprise and it oozes what could of been sonic extreme or just early 3D sonic sega Saturn vibes. Truly the stuff I love to see
I can’t believe this fangame is getting a revival 10 years later!!! I’m excited to see where this goes cause the original was a gem for its time and it was pretty disappointing it never went anywhere
This game gives me strong freedom planet vibes. Yes, Freedom Planet was inspired by Sonic, but the fronts and art design strongly reminds me of freedom planet
this fan game looks absolutely gorgeous. the detail into anything is high but it pays off. the music is also very good and i like how instead of marble zone its granite zone

I get the feeling they'll reuse the cancelled soundtracks, and then cut that in half essentially. So there'll still be a clash of tones. Both the original composers were going for a certain style, and I don't think the '95 devs really get it

Nice to see this fangame return. but the new soundtrack change for sunrise gate act 1 & 2 just doesn't feel the same to me. They just both feel severely lacking and kinda boring, lame and doesn't have the same bouncy charm that the original demo had. :(
This is super cool, a fan made Sonic Origins story. Also like the similarities between Granite and Marble Zone. Only complaint I can think of is it'd be neat if they somehow worked in the lore of SegaSonic into this, maybe as a sequel, or part 2 to the game (like 3& Knuckles, combining cartridges), since that was also intended as a Sonic origins and being his 1st encounter with Dr Robotnik. That is a minor complaint though, just a cool bonus and suggestion for the creator, a 2d 16 bit version of SegaSonic as the & Knuckles or sequel to this game.

That Granite Zone boss is so amazing. This entire game really feels like a Saturn/PS1 era game. Captured 1995 amazingly. The only issue with the boss is that it's too long imo. Overstayed... I think the conventional 8 hits would've been better.
It's really awesome to see Sonic Overture get a new update after a decade, and I hope this fangame continues to get developed even more. I love how Sonic's Rabbit design acts a a lot like Knuckles did in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, which it's really cool to see these two together in a game. Just wish that Sunrise Gate's music wasn't changed, but I do like Granite Zone's music though.
well, sonic overture is meant to be a reconstruction of sonic overture. Sonic Legends is a game that brings back zones from canceled fangames, with one of the zones being Sunrise gate zone.
I don't understand why fans make fangames of what a 2D Sonic game would be like if it came out for Saturn. When in reality, if Sonic would have had a 2D game for Saturn, people would have criticized it at the time for being more of the same as the Genesis games, only with another coat of paint and for being stuck in the past. Seeing that Mario made the jump to 3D on the N64 with Super Mario 64, while Crash Bandicoot debuted on Playstation. So Sonic could have been in absolute oblivion and therefore could have been the death of the franchise for having stagnated in the past and not knowing how to innovate and Saturn would have become the last console of Sega.
Wish I knew about the Sonic 1 prequel any sooner. Even if not, I love everything that this fan game does to replicate that and the attention to detail. Out of everything this game includes, I think the boss round is my favorite. I hope you have a nice Christmas Eve Jaypin 🎄🎁
Am I upset that they changed Sunrise Gate's music?...Yes...but theres plenty of content here that makes me not even worry about it and brings me excitement. Just puts a smile of my face all the way! Great gameplay as always and I'll be watching your next fangame play through or whatever it is thats coming for us to feed on! 👍
I understand why they had to change it, but the new musical tracks for Sunrise Gate are really underwhelming compared to how bombastic and joyous the original tracks were (at least they're still in Sonic Legends) and I also don't like the new mechanic of Sonic perching on statues; it's cute and charming the first time it happens, but every time afterwards it's annoying and really interrupts the flow. But by contrast, I love pretty much everything that has to do with Granite Zone; no notes there.

So rather than deal with him in any way at all they opted to just make new music entirely....for the worse if you ask me, but it is what it is.

I would have wanted this to be a Core Framework (OR at least Sonic Worlds: Next/Orbinaut 2) joint, but other than that, this reboot of Overture has potential. Here's hoping the new crew can discuss things more in detail with Jassbec and his own guys (Except for Lange of course), so that Overture '95 can finally have the original Overture folks' blessing!

It's really awesome to see Sonic Overture get a new update after a decade, and I hope this fangame continues to get developed even more.
