This is like the definition of what Sonic is! The mechanics, speed, momentum, music, style. Everything is so on point and I love it all!! The fact there's the CD intro's parkour is incredible it even has the hand stand animation, yeeess.
The dropdash has an annoying screech noise at the end of it when released. This game should have the option to use the Sonic 3D Blast or Sonic Adventure 1 spin attack Animation. Heck Sonic Rush Spin attack would do well

@@Stickboy321Go Eh, not to beat a dead horse but when I think "cool" and "style" I think of games like 3, CD, the advance titles, the rush titles and of course the Adventure games. Modern Sonic just doesn't have the same vibes, not including unleashed which I agree is pretty good. Frontier is also a promising step in the right direction.
Now in terms of every fangame or mod based on junio/toei sonic, this is just peak. The momentum, the parkour and fighting that speeding badnik is really fun.
Love the gameplay, you really bring out the actual potential these games have in terms of feeling like Sonic, it is blatantly obvious how much love is put into these videos. I'll always wait for the next one.
This game is phenomenonal i just got done playing it and honestly this game truly represents sonic as a charcter perfectly. The absolute mechanics and speed feel absolutely refreshing. And i love the fact this game took a lot of inspiration from cd its so amazing i cant wait to see what the devs are going to do for the whole game! I also do find it so cool that the enemies are just as fast as sonic as well
It actually uses everything sonic's learned from sonic 2 up to rush and lost world (parkour) but trades boost for momentum. (Which I love. I'm tired of lazy level design just to fit the boost) Fluid movement. I would say this is the peak for 3d fan games so far in terms of sonic gameplay. My favorite one so far. Stellar job, this is the vision I've wanted to see.
Just finished a playthrough a while ago, and man this game is awesome. It really makes you feel like Sonic himself, speeding through with acrobatics that would usually only be seen in cutscenes. Never been more glad to own a PS5 (And Dreams). Though, I do hope they make it remixable, so we can make custom levels.
now THIS is what I imagine when I hear terms SEGA uses like "Open-Zone gameplay"! Not a flat meadow with little automatic QTE-type platforming challenges in the sky.
This is actually incredible! I always wanted a sonic game that feels like you're playing through an animation and doing all those cool movesets that feel naturally like parkouring while having a sense of slick style! I wonder if sonic team devs see these kinds of projects and get inspired to make something of this sort, or even bring in skilled up and coming developers to work with them to make something amazing
I would not get my hopes up for the people at Sega and Sonic Team nowadays to get inspired to make this type of "Sonic" game in the future. Remember, "Sonic Superstars" exists (only for story purposes) that tries to be a follow up to the pixel art 2D classic "Sonic" games, and we all know how that game turned out after Whitehead left. Not to mention the fact that they were not even sure how the movement of the main character worked in "Sonic Frontiers", which is why the movement setting was given to the person playing the game.
@@William5000000 Say what you want about Superstars but the physics in that game were exactly the same as the classic 2D games (good) and had original level themes, the gameplay was sound, it's problems were the gimmicks, multiplayer and boss fights.

I say 'MOSTLY' because there are a few of them that are actually major: bouncing off of monitors and badniks with the button held down isn't on par with the mainline 2D sprite "Sonic" games; Knuckles' glide speed along with super glide has been severely nerfed (even more so with the speed shoes); Amy's hammer dash from ver. 2.0.0/2.00 of "Sonic Origins (Plus*)" onwards has been severely nerfed as well. In other words, Amy and especially Knuckles are bottom tier in the game (especially compared to Trip on her attributes). I'm sure there are other differences that not only negatively impact the game itself but doesn't accurately represent the mainline 2D sprite "Sonic" games that came prior to it. That's the main disappointment with "Sonic Superstars" for (former) longtime classic hardcore fans. But of course, casuals (even those who have major problems with the game) aren't going to notice them. It could've been a respectable 2D "Sonic" game. Instead, it ended up being an absolute mess (design, delivery, fun factor, soundtrack, et cetera), especially at launch considering the bugs and glitches.
Just like Utopia, you haven't forgotten that Momentum is what makes Sonic what he is. A rolling blue ball of super sonic speed. I love this soooo much. It's a real shame this isn't on PC for conservation.

I haven’t had a good cry in what feels like forever now. But when i watched this, this wave of nostalgia overcame me and I remembered everything from sonic cd. This was an absolute joy to watch and it made me so happy. I appreciate this
The opening cloud level reminds me of the OVA scenes where sonic and metal were in the sky fighting. Imagine in the tutorial you had to race metal in the sky to pass like in the OVA, Amazing job, Kudos to the devs!
I really like the inclusion of the parkour mode. Although a bit janky at times, it's very interesting and I'd love to see it pushed to its limit. I'm impressed.
This is why, although the Sonic fan base is all ways with each other arguing and being annoying, I still love be apart of it. You just don’t get this with any other fan base.😊

This is no joke what I always wanted from Sonic ever since I saw the CD intro. Maybe a tad more parkour elements & nitpicks but this is my dream Sonic game. For example i wanted the combat while running element you see in the Sonic OVA where he breaks spiked and robots with flash steps.
I really wish modern Sonic games could look similar to this. I miss the unique art style and flare of the adventure era. This is a beautiful work of art

The more I watch this the more I imagine a Sonic CD and OVA movie hybrid game. I can see a Land of Darkness stage where Sonic starts by dropping down the cliff just like the movie doing parkour tricks off mountain tops running through a dark forest jumping over spike traps while blowing through Badniks. The end of the stage would be Sonic jumping through a portal which will take him to the next stage Eggman Land where he'll fight Black Eggman with a chase sequences running down highways under tunnels and all dodging missile attacks.
Why doesn't SEGA just remake the Classic Sonic games from Sonic 1 up to Sonic & Knuckles with this style ???? I mean those are always being reported yet we never get to experience them in full 3D

I love almost everything about this game, also dang the music is straight fire! I think some of the wall jumping mechanics could be polished up abit, like only being able to jump on an object once or something like that. But yeah outside of that I really don't have any complaints, besides I want the full game!! haha
This demo is AWESOME! There's just one thing that I think could make this better. I know game development is a hell of a lot of work so feel free to ignore if you like. You know the wall jump animation where Sonic stays in place for half a second until you make a button press? What if instead he had a wall kick where you held down one of the triggers while he's in midair to prep a kick and release it to bound off a wall while maintaining momentum? Like, while holding down the trigger that corresponds with the side of him the wall's on, he could enter a "cling state" where he'd climb up down and all around walls while gradually losing momentum only to kick off with the release of the trigger to build it back up again. I think a feature like that in any new sonic fan game would really help capture the fluidity of the original CD-i animation!
Now this is REAL Open Zone gameplay! Take this and add open zone combat exclusively for bosses ( but make it more expansive like DMC and Bayonetta) and you have my ideal Sonic game.

This demo is AWESOME! There's just one thing that I think could make this better. I know game development is a hell of a lot of work so feel free to ignore if you like.
You know the wall jump animation where Sonic stays in place for half a second until you make a button press? What if instead he had a wall kick where you held down one of the triggers while he's in midair to prep a kick and release it to bound off a wall while maintaining momentum?
Like, while holding down the trigger that corresponds with the side of him the wall's on, he could enter a "cling state" where he'd climb up down and all around walls while gradually losing momentum only to kick off with the release of the trigger to build it back up again. I think a feature like that in any new sonic fan game would really help capture the fluidity of the original CD-i animation!

Now this is REAL Open Zone gameplay! Take this and add open zone combat exclusively for bosses ( but make it more expansive like DMC and Bayonetta) and you have my ideal Sonic game.
