More of Meghan please. Whether it's more riding, thoughts, or whatever. Being able to relive this first time rider feel in such a raw, natural, genuine way has brought me a joy I did not expect.
We have a video series idea next year where we’ll show a beginner rider starting their journey and everything in between until they become a fully licensed and experienced motorcyclist - stay tuned 🔥
Ignore the hate, obviously it's not a good idea to teach someone like this. That's not what they are doing. Megan isn't going to go out and buy a bike and hit the street. I'm pretty confident she's going to get her proper msf creds if she wants to ride. Respect or disrespect for msf aside, this is just two girls new rider goofin. Enjoy the content.
It's a good way to figure out if you're comfortable with signing up for a course also. I monkeyed around in backyards with a family member's yamaha yz80 (with coaching) to get the feel for throttle and clutch control before I knew for sure that I wanted to take a 3 day course through Harley. I caught the bug and then wanted to learn safely and in detail
Damn watching this video was like me reliving the moment I taught my sister to ride. Teaching someone how to ride is so rewarding, words just can't explain it.
this is a really great new direction for the channel. making it a bit more about people. you can film bikes all day but its people that are interesting.
What a joy to watch someone piloting a motorbike for the first time! The joy, adrenaline, a little bit of fear. Such a visceral feeling. I am glad for her. Thank you for sharing this.

Awesome Whitney! Nice job bringing another member to enlightenment on two wheels. Please give us some updates (via video) on your friends progression. Maybe a new segment for the Yammie channel… new riders on bikes. 😀
1st gear is the hardest. The more momentum you pick up, the easier (or more stable) it feels. Thanks for posting and inspiring hundreds more to ride!! 🔥💪
This was such a unexpeded great video. Good energy and comfort with a teacher makes learning natural. Well done both of you! would love to see another video with these two.
when Megan was playing with the throttle and giving it quick twists right before starting it I was definitely concerned lol. Glad she had restraint once it was on.
I loved watching the moment she got on the bike. I just recently learned how to ride over the summer and I still remember that feeling of being on the bike. I was scared, but it made me feel powerful and free. Thankfully I had really good teachers from friends to actual PAMSP instructors!
It was a great idea to create this video and show it. There should be more of this. I hope there is a whole series of Meghan learning to ride. Whitney and Meghan are two great personalities. They are perfect for this.
Reminds me of my dad teaching me to ride on a 30 Y/O East German simson 50cc scooter. It was garaged and didn't run for about 20 years so getting it started was a challenge. Then all the weeks of finding the sweet spot on the clutch (which was probably the hardest thing I've done) I stalled about 90 million times! 😂 Now I've got some experience it feels weird to think there was a time when I couldn't even set off on a bike!
What a fantastic video. I'd love a part two. Seeing someone do it for the first time is giving me the confidence to make the leap. I'll be selling my Mazda Miata soon and want to start learning to ride in the new year
Duuuude….. this chick is so rad! That matrix reference @ 16:00 makes so much sense, it like when rider and horse are one, the vehicle becomes an extension of one’s body!
1. Welcome to the tribe. 2. You look like you had fun, I hope you will continue to do that. 3. MIfune? APU? Oh, we better get some more of that and you better get some more time on the channel. I already flagged this video for my son (he's 12, but he will inherit my Vit 401). I can't believe you can find that Neutral so fast. My Vit is keeping me on my toes. WORSE than my 999, and that says something. Whitney, thank you for this video. Taught me a lot of what and how I should introduce my son to riding. Also - I can confirm we Canadians do drive one side saddle when we are running from moose. Rubber side down and above all, be safe.
"...dude, you're the gang leader". Whitney, you're like Pinky Tuscadero, or maybe the Fonz! Total dad reference. 🤣 Well done. You're so chill and encouraging, everyone should learn from someone like you! 👍
I often get my youngest to hit the ignition for me when I am on the bike.......as a 10 year old he freeking loves it and he then gets to rev the Harley a bit too.....and so do I when I start her too.
Nice ! Not surprised tho, my niece never learned to drive a standard transmission car, but she took the MSF class, got her license, then bought a Harley. Ride like a girl !
Great video!!! Ya'll should go do the MSF course together. Whitney so she can document and learn how to train up the rest of her friends, and Megan for the actual newbie learning perspective. Would love to see more videos like this, plus the first 5 minutes of the video wasn't filler and ball shaver ads so kudos!
My father taught me to drive manual in his truck when I was 14 on a dirt road on my aunts property... and I have always had a manual sports car almost all my life. When I 1st started riding I picked it up within 10 min inwas shifting gears ripping up and down the road while being told to slow down lol. If are comfortable driving a manual car you will pick up motorcycle so quickly because you always have the eye/hand Is coordination and I'd gonas far as saying driving a bike is easier than a manual car because people are naturally more in control of their hands as far as clutch control than they are their left foot. It is more dangerous but strictly speaking the mechanics of controlling the drive train on a bike is easier because everything is in uou hands literally. If you want to learn to ride a bike start learning to drive a manual car and once you understand clutch control in a car it will be easy mode on a bike.
Nice. The 701 seems a little tall for this woman for learning to ride, but at least it's pretty light. It's a nicer bike than I'd want to risk having dropped teaching someone, but it's for a good cause.
Before I rode I had no idea how to use a manual transmission or a motorcycle (I did know how to ride a bicycle fast tho) Learned in 5 minutes and off I went. I was taught in exactly this kind of casual situation. I did take the MSF course that same year to get my license, well worth the price and time.
12:47 that's awesome. That's the kind of shot you save to show to your grandkids one day. Hair swingin' while wearin' a "I Like Having Fun" shirt? She better save that lol
This reminds of when me and my friend taught our other friend to ride a Honda monkey. We were so proud of him watching him figure it out and catching the bug.
Get megan to take the basic motorcycle riding course! Get her to get her license! You can tell just from this short vid that she wants to get out there and ride.
DO NOT USE FRONT BRAKE AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN TURNING. That was terrifying when she was holding her hand on the front brake lever all the time. It's so easy to topple the bike over at slow speeds by grabbing the front brake.
Great to see a new rider . But honestly I don't think I would make a good teacher. The people who taught me must have had a lot more patience with me than I have.
i've always believed there are 2 types of beginner riders: those who have fallen off and those who have yet to fall off. :)) don't let that stop you. good job and ride safe. :)
Bestie Megan huh? This should be interesting... Obscure Matrix and Dune references. Yup. Funny accents and voices. Yup. Slightly awkward yet positive vibe. Yup. All checks out. She's in.
This was me when I started. My only issue was after hearing so much about counter steering and the bike leaning it kinda intimidated me and then I took a corner going 45 and was likeI just natually did that......THATS AMAZING!
Absolutely love the Dune reference! Lol..thats my shit hahhaha..but yea..as someone who started with manual cars, it definitely helps..and I totally agree with needing more time with the basics.
I just passed my safety course but I’ve yet to get my first bike. Before the course, I had no experience with manual transmissions. I’m absolutely in love with the Svart 701, would you say it’s a doable first bike for someone like me?
I recently got a ‘21 ninja 400 in September. I was contemplating on getting a Yamaha R7 (which is somewhat similar to the 701)as my first bike, but ultimately decided on the Ninja 400. While admittedly I’m not totally in love with the ninja 400, I know it’s a vital step in getting experience for a taller, heavier, more powerful bike like the R7. I’m 6’2” and I can easily plant my feet which is great for newbies because your feet will slip on acorns, gravel, sand, oil, and everything else. I’d say the best bike for beginners like us is a low seat height, lighter weight, and a mild power plant(svartpilen 701 only has the lightness). I also haven’t gotten frame sliders on my bike and I’ve come close to dropping it twice in the span of 3 months, once on a crappy driveway with gravel, berries from tree, concrete cracks and once in a grassy trail. Only reason I didn’t drop it is because A. My height, B. I lift heavy things for work, and C. seat height so.. maybe consider something smaller, but it’s all up to you. Your gamble really, it may be doable but with some costly mistakes if you screw up since it’s a bigger and more premium bike.
I know about the bit of cramping/pain in the thumb. I get it often on my ninja 300 but noticed it might have been my gloves being a little too small and gripping the throttle a bit tight.
