    Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I th-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

      Hi Griffin HAVC, in comparison of Bryant carrier sub brand offered by an installer to another installer offered Lenox HVAC system (gas heat furnace 70,000 btu+ coil & compressor single stage 2.5 ton) for $7,700 bargaining 10 year part & labor coverage. The first installer offered Bryant system used by my neighbor with 10 years part & labor charge for $6,900 however I cannot find the exact business address and also the owner son in law has the Havc license according their website.
      If you were me what would you choose in terms of product reliability and piece of mind for next ten years? Please help, I need to make decisions ASAP. Thanks p.s both system 14seer & furnace is 80% efficiency due to home builder installed 17.5” air duct system and metal ( non pvc) exhaust duct for the furnace 18 years ago.
      If upstairs ac is out furnace is running, change entire zone system? Should I change the zone for downstairs at the same time if both ac & furnace still running fine at this moment (18 years old system)?

    I was told by my AC guy that I could replace only the outside unit with an ICP and that unlike other manufacturers that require both inside and outside units to be replaced, that ICP would honor the 10 year warranty even if I only replaced the outside unit, is this accurate? In general terms, what is the overall price difference between a Carrier/Bryant unit and a comparable ICP one?

    The Airquest, Arcoaire, Day and Night, and Tempstar 3.5 ton, 13.5 Seer package heat pumps look identical. A similar Carrier package heat pump looked identical as well except for the louvre covers for the coils. I can buy an Airquest myself for 4k and get a 10-year warranty as long as a licensed contractor installs it. Is there any advantage of buying one or the other?

    Good video👍 Carrier for a long time was #1 for sales, but in 1990’s Goodman was catching up to Carrier and when Goodman purchased the Amana line from Raytheon that was when soon after Carrier purchased the ICP line, if they didn’t do this purchase Goodman would of took the lead. So for awhile Carrier was still top dog until Daiken purchased Goodman. Now Daiken is #1 in Air Conditioning Global. The only way I see that Carrier is going to take #1 spot is purchasing Gree or possibly Samsung, their partnership with Toshiba is not going to advance them to #1

One company would install an American Standard 16 Seer unit, but will try to salvage some of my existing parts from the current hvac system. The other would install a 14 seer Day and Night for a cheaper price with all new parts. I asked about a 16 seer unit but they would need to check availability. I like both contractors. My shop is a bryant dealer.
    What our reps have told us is that that bryant and carrier are "sister-brands". 100% identical as far as Ive been told. Our ACs literally used to come with a carrier badge and a bryant badge.
    When a part (or a whole piece of equipment) gets a newer revision, carrier dealers are usually prioritized in the distribution process of the newest parts/units. Otherwise there is literally no difference between bryant and carrier.
    ICP brands like heil and comfortmaker have more of a one-way relationship with carrier. Carrier liked their AC body style, and their furnace heat exchanger design (after the plugged hx debacle with carrier/bryant ~15 years ago). So carrier basically bought ICP in order to take some of their features that carrier liked. And then carrier passes some of their tech down to ICP brands on a much more limited basis than they do with Bryant. Heil is the top-tier ICP brand, and theyre just recently starting to incorporate the modulating technology that carrier and bryant have had for quite a while. Carrier basically bought ICP so they could use a few of their designs, and in return carrier gives their second-newest tech to ICP, keeping them one step behind.
    Payne is basically exactly what you said. Builder-grade carrier. They dont have fully modulating units at all. Theyre just base-tier carrier/bryant units. Payne units are identical to carrier units, just like bryant units are. The difference is that payne is only base-tier units.
    And i would bet that some parts which just barely fail carrier quality control get sent over to payne. That's just speculation though.

    My Bryant heat pump & gas furnace seem to behave differently than my Rheem did. I wonder if this is a problem waiting to happen. This morning (at 35 degrees outdoors) I upped my thermostat from 64 to 69 degrees. The heat pump and furnace fan came on and ran for just a couple of minutes. Then the call for 5 degrees of heat all at once kicked on the Aux gas heat and seems to makes sense. I heard the gas burner fire up and the vent pipe got hot. The problem is that I could hear my heat pump was still running. I have always thought that a heat pump & gas furnace should never run at the same time. I guess it could be that the HP is possibly running in a different mode, such as defrost or possibly in some way that would not be harmful, but I don't know. So I shut it down. I don’t know how to confirm if this is a situation that might cause damage or not. I don’t know if the heat pump is supposed to ‘run on’ in some otherwise safe mode temporarily. I am afraid that if I let it run on just to see if it eventually shuts down I might do damage in the meantime. I would feel better if I knew that the HP is supposed to behave like this under these conditions.

    • @NewHVACGuide
      @NewHVACGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be a true dual fuel system, the heat pump should lock out when the furnace is running. I would not consider your situation “dangerous“. However, I’m sure the heat rise causes the evaporator coil pressures to rise higher than designed... Which could possibly cause a refrigerant leak. Regardless, the whole point of having a heat pump with a gas furnace is to save money on gas on mild days so then a heat pump will provide your home heat. What you’re describing is not appropriate.

    • @ericplayer5284

    Hello I have a 2000sq ft ranch home with a 35 year old Carrier furnace, electronic air filter, Aprilaire humidifier and AC. I am currently in the midst of putting on a small 7 x 25 ft addition. I have the option of eliminating the existing chimney or not. The chimney was to be eliminated to not become the elephant in the room.The heating and cooling installer for this project recommended Tempstar furnace ION series F96CTN and Tempstar Split system TSA6 including replacement of the air filter. After listening to this video I'm questioning if I'm making a costly mistake. If I want a high efficient furnace then I would definitely need to do it at this time to accommodate the newer duct work. Please give me feedback as to what you think. Would it be worth doing a high efficiency furnace, this particular model falls into the Best category? The AC is 16 SEER. Would I replace the electronic air filter with another for purer air intake or go for one that accommodates 4-5 inch thick pleated filters? Are Tempstar parts universal (not proprietary unique to the brand like Lennnox)?

      Hello. I know folks that think ICP is the best. I would defer to your local contractor. Some brands are better in different markets because of suppliers and so on.

    @HVAC Guide for Homeowners
    Is Tempstar a builder grade HVAC unit?
    A locally owned (Mom and Pop) reputable company sells only Tempstars currently, but when asked about switching a Carrier out with a 3ton 14 SEER single stage they said they would, at the same price and they said it would look like the exact same unit just with a Carrier badge. However, they don’t usually do that.
    I own a 1547 sq ft house, but I want a two stage unit for the sake of better efficiency. With that said, I’ve leaned toward their 15 seer two stage Tempstar unit. The company can’t swap it out for a Carrier though like the 14 seer.
    Another company in the same city has quoted me a Carrier 16 seer two stage with some other misc work (same as other company) for $898 more. Unlike the other company which is smaller, they said they could swap out any air unit that I wanted basically.
    My question is, is Tempstar a builder grade unit, and is it comparable to Carrier? I’m confused with the smaller company willing to swap out a Carrier for the exact same price. I have a friend who works there who said they are almost the exact same unit, the company says that s well and they stand behind the product.
    I just don’t want to walk away from getting a better unit for only a few hundred dollars more, and then be kicking myself in the long run. The Tempstar does come with a 10 year parts and labor warranty though, but with the other company, using Carrier, I would have to spend an extra $500 for the 10 year labor warranty (it already had 10yr parts).
    What are your thoughts on that?

    • @NewHVACGuide
      @NewHVACGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tempstar is an ICP brand and is owned by Carrier. However, ICP is not the exact same equipment as Carrier. Carrier and Bryant are more of Cadillac, Tempstar is their Chevrolet, Payne is their Kia.

    Some say I only need 3 ton A/C, Furnace & coil at 14 SEER, others say 3.5 condenser with 4 ton Furnace and coil at 16 SEER. Hey pal. We had the same issues with the T6s a while back. As far as Carrier goes, in our market, the parts are outrageous in price. You have to sit on hold for hours on end to get someone sometimes. We’ve had compressors and coils bad straight from the factory. We have a Bryant customer with Carrier/Bryant zoning and the unit locks out on compressor heat overload. They’ve sent out reps and ultimately said they don’t know what’s wrong. We didn’t install it. So maybe a good vac and good brazing practices weren’t followed? Not sure. I’m glad you like them. I have other friends that do too! But I truly believe they’re inferior to Daikin and Trane. They don’t even make their ductless units. Just my opinion. Thanks!
