    The reality is that cost of living has changed since Covid. It is very expensive to live in Orange County if you’re not making at least $35k as a single person and that’s just for renting. Many people here have 2 and sometimes 3 jobs. People coming from California and New York price out locals easily for housing. Buy your house according to the zones. If you do it backwards it will burn you when you’re told your child lives out of the zone and you’re a block away from that ideal school.
    It is important when realtors are selling you a home to ask about the school zoning and hurricane damage. College Park is notorious for losing power for a long period of time if a strong hurricane comes through. I’m talking about power lines down and it’s just pitch black with Silent Hill vibes. Some areas flood more than others. Do your homework. Loved the video.

    • @kriskennedyre
      @kriskennedyre  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re not wrong @Lee, there are little subtleties about every neighborhood. Pluses and minuses no matter where you go. It’s so important to look at what’s important to you as a home buyer when making a decision to relocate or purchase.

HC checks all the boxes,osprey park is within walking distance the shingle creek trail inside the community can’t find in any other community and not to mention close to Disney sea world and universal all A rated schools close to DT and the airport. When my coworkers come over they can’t believe there realtors didn’t tell them about HC they always steer them to lake Nona and winter garden. lol HC is a hidden gem 🙌

    lived in florida 10 years.....left....still miss it sometime....PROS: weather, Churches, beaches, coasts, big cities (Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville) then a few miles down the road nice and rural...Long drives with car to cruise, good restaurants-lots to choose from, great wildlife - gators, manatees, panthers, etc..cool to see, Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, etc...Daytona 500, car shows, Sports teams, Football, College and Pro Football, Spring Training, Nightlife, no snow, .............CONS: Lower wages, lack of quality healthcare and doctors, southern inefficiency, bad attitudes from southerners and Floridians, Puerto Rican gangs, emphasis on Spanish language and culture, Expensive housing, Hurricanes, insects, bugs, small lizards running around, a feeling of "NO CULTURE", Lots of wealthy, elderly people, and snowbirds that are arrogant, no change of seasons, that state just gets on your nerves after awhile...

    I was in Orlando recently. I was impressed by a lot of the neighborhoods, but I found the drivers, traffic, and attitude of people to be very unfriendly. Not Chicago bad, but off-putting all the same.
    Traffic is significantly worse than many other similar sized cities, people drive aggressively and dangerously, (keep in mind, I’m NOT a slow driver and I wasn’t getting in anyone’s way) and I just found that most people wouldn’t look you in the eye, or smile if you are lucky enough to make eye contact.
    Maybe it’s just a different culture from the Midwest, but I found these things very frustrating. I found Clermont to be the absolute best place in central Florida; out of all of the four counties I was in during my trip. Felt a lot more like home than other places.

      I was mostly near Champions Gate/Davenport, but I noticed the same thing in St. Cloud, downtown, and Kissimmee. It got better the farther you get away from the higher traffic areas, though.
      Like I said, Clermont felt totally like where I’m from. It’s probably just big city stuff that I’m just noticing because it’s a new area. I just didn’t expect to experience those kinds of things in so many areas.

      Unless you have some real estate to parlay into a new home, or a high income earner or successful entrepreneur, this is the case all over! Orlando has more affordable options (because it is inland) than many coastal Florida cities. If you want desirable real estate, it is expensive. The "deals" are in the towns up north that people are abandoning in droves.

      @@helpmenow7 A condo I owned (1983 for $275k in La Jolla, right on the Cove) was $875k in 2005 when I visited, and is now well over $1 million. CA properties - especially, the coast - are astronomical now, and you have to put up with morons like Gavin Gruesome and drunk Nancy! Love the climate & scenery - hate everything else in CA now (lived there 13 years).

      Understand. When I made this video, I pulled the outlined areas from google, which are often not accurate. Often, there are municipalities within city limits that will appear as different cities on records or maps. Happens in many areas of Conway as well. I've been working on ways to improve the maps. Is Florida mostly tract housing?

    • @kriskennedyre
      @kriskennedyre  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! It depends on the area. Typically the newer suburbs at entry level price points seem like that. If you go to an area that’s been established for a while then it won’t seem that way. Then higher-end new communities do a great job making each home seem and look more unique.

    Need to know before moving to Florida:
    Very bad health care. It is very difficult to find adequate, let alone good, health care providers. I would strongly suggest that you see health care providers in the north including dentists.
    Florida is a very superficial culture, especially in Orlando. It's a great place for mainstream but don't count on intellectual stimulation.
    Florida is halfway between the United States and a third world country. Services are not good, schools are poor, and customer service is almost non- existent.
    Floridians are friendly but not very helpful. People are not generous with information or much else. It's just the culture.
    Florida is very expensive. Don't move to avoid state income tax, you will pay in other ways. The cost of living, for example, is very high, especially rent and real estate.
    Wish I had known these things before I moved here, I would have chosen another state.

You may "think" it's in your price range, but don't forget about all of the other expenses, car payment, car insurance, rent insurance, electricity, water bill garbage bill, phone bills, food. You will be running back home before you know it. Be smart and do that before you decide it's too expensive and the only place to live is in the ghetto! Notice fans, they she does not tell you the prices, does she????!!!!! 1 Bedroom is going for $1,900 and 2 bedroom is $2,300 for now. That is subject to be even more. There is nothing less than that that in Florida!
