As someone who knows an unnecessary amount about Aerochrome and infrared photography, here are my guesses on what the secret aerochrome recreation is: (1) A real infrared film stock - Unlikely since making new colour film emulsions is next to impossible. Only kodak really makes colour film anymore and their production line now uses IR cameras so it's impossible for them to make IR film. (2) An infrared trichrome with B&W IR film - This leaves trichrome artefacts which aren't seen in these photos so this can't be it. It's a cool way to recreate Aerochrome with film tho (3) A full spectrum digital camera with something like a Kolari Chrome filter - The most likely option, and the most practical way to take IR photos nowadays. It uses a digital camera with its IR cut filter removed and replaced with a special filter. Some post processing can then be done to swap the colour channels appropriately to give an authentic Aerochrome look.
i loved your video on recreating aerochrome - i agree with your third guess; a full spectrum digital file with really convincing editing to make it look like film
@@ChillmyLP water actually does reflect a bit of ir, if you look up other aerochrome photos you'll see a reflection of the trees in the water. the images look too authentic to be a simple colour swap (ie. green to pink), because that method wouldn't make skin yellow and turns things pink that shouldn't be
Wow…taking a plane and staying in a hotel with your loved ones instead of rowing a boat alone to a used dirty tent like a true analog photographer. You’ve changed. Who am I watching, Casey Neistat?
Not gonna lie this video makes me feel so darn warm and comfy inside. None of that gosh-darned thinkin', just good times and good vibes under the sun. Probably under the influence as well.
You killed aerochrome on the trip. The pictures are fantastic. The retrochorme filled out the trip nicely. You picked the right stock for the right moments. Great video Jason. I hope Baxter didn't miss y'all too much.
First of all, I’m a huge fan of your videos and photography. Your work is truly inspiring. I’m sure you answered this question a million times but what luts or coloration are you using for your videos?
Can't wait for the reveal, it seemed like every time an aerochrome shot appeared, we didn't get the shutter for the camera that took the pic like we got for most of the shots done on the Contax. I wonder what he's shooting the secret aerochrome with
The best part about the abandon hotel was the minimal graffiti paint. You were able to get some of the best shots because of that. cool. All in all, a good video of what looked like a good trip.
the beach photos with persons are dope. the interior photos of the boat and hotel are dope. you're continued obsession with hot pink in photographs eludes understanding.

Just skimmed the entire video to find the part where Jason is gonna drink a Flamin' Hot Mountain Dew for the sake of Kodak returning Aerochrome. But where is it?! Or is it? 🤔
Love the humor and great video. Wondering if you are going to roll out an episode about how you edit the color of your video, are you using Davinci? The film feeling is nice.🤓
missing a #kodakbringbackaerochrome but i guess you have some aerochrome (or equiv) now so mission accomplished great collection of t2 photos. some of the 800t ones look sick
Wow Jason, that was fabulous! When you’re ready to burn your flight credit on the return trip to Kawai I’ve got a cabin. We can stay at free up at Koke State park four bedroom two bath.
so for the coast to coast video and this video there was no shutter sound when the "aerochrome" pictures came up 🤔 am i overthinking this or is something up?
I’m pretty sure it’s just color film (or a digital file I guess) with colours from that Lightroom profile that gives the aero chrome look. Switching green to this red. I say that because the green-blue roof also turns red, which wouldn’t happen, because roofs aren’t reflecting IR light like foliage. 1:14. Also at 5:08 the guy’s shorts turn red.
I used Aerochrome when it was still fresh dated! I hated the results, I also used real BW colour filters. I was banned from the top process lab, because they ignored the RED warning I enclosed. Hey Jason can I ask if you shoot in automatic mode on the T2? Mine is usually a bit off when it comes to the focus, and I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
I feel like i just watched a video of somebody walking around in my backyard. The place where the boat from Koolina took you is Electric Beach. Wife and I go there sometimes multiple times a week to watch the sun set.

being too cool is so 2019....just be authentic and happy, because you are. The sarcasm is sophomoric and really not necessary. No need to hide, joy is pretty cool
Seeing Caleb be touchy-feely with someone other than Jason feels like adultery.
Is Jason not good enough for him anymore??😢

Note the lack of shutter sound when he shows those photos and the increased dynamic range compared to standard expired aerochrome.
I doubt it has anything to do with ir.
In some shoots with water you see reflections. Water doesnt reflekt ir
If this is the case I need Jason to make a video shooting it in black and white and figure out what pro mist I need to get and HIE simulation.
