    As a user of Google Workspace and prospective purchaser of an intranet solution, I was hoping this video would show employees effectively using a Google-Sites based intranet. This video instead focuses mainly on _building_ sites (which I agree _is_ easy) that become intranet solutions, but not a video that shows employees actually _using_ them like an employee would. I'm finding that modern conceptions of intranet tools complete with social paradigms and AI to surface relevant and individualized info in customizable dashboards for each user in an organization are a paradigm shift up in terms of how employees can have really great and helpful intranets that can do things far beyond what Google Workplace tools can help one build.

    Have you found a way to add a super menu above the site so that you can flip among a suite of departments with their own linked project sites? Any vendors doing this? If so l am hunting for a way to see across and search across all sites!! That’s an intranet…

    Hello, Mr. Damson
    Thanks for the video! :-) Just a question, however: how can we set the site in order to allow only people from inside the company to have access? Is there any possibility to create a kind of login? Thanks!

    • @Damsoncloud
      @Damsoncloud  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great questions Fabiano. Yes you can indeed setup Google Sites like this. That is how it can be used as an intranet instead of just a company website. Instead of publishing the site externally you can just share it with someones Gmail or Google account. This way you can limit who has access to the Google Site. The best way to do this within an organisation would be via G Suite for Business or Education and manage it via a Google Group.

    i have created a intranet for my real estate team. I have uploaded many documents for the team to use. many times my agents click the document and it says they need permission. Many documents don't say that. Also, they are having problems downloading and printing documents from the intranet. Any suggestions?

    hi thanks for the video , i have an issue if you can help . i want to make a links to my local drive in a server \\10.20.....et but i cant do you have an idea about this ? thanks in advance

    • @Damsoncloud
      @Damsoncloud  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Isarene,
      I am not sure what you mean by links to your local drive. Do you want to add links to your local (internal drive/network) to Google Sites? I don't think this would be possible. You could add a url but it would only work internally unless your local drive was publishing to the web somehow. I would recommend storing the data you want to publish on Google Drive or on Google Sites itself.

      Hi there,
      From the Admin console Home page, go to Apps and thenGoogle Workspace and then Sites.
      Click New Sites.
      Choose the following option:
      To restrict users from creating or editing sites, select Users cannot edit sites.
      Click Save. If you configured an organizational unit or group, you might be able to Inherit or Override a parent organizational unit, or Unset a group.

      You just create another calendar in your google calendar app. It’s easy enough to do. Here is a help file.

      @@Damsoncloud Thank you for taking the time to reply, I finally figured it out. I have another question, I have created a sheet with a working calculator at the bottom to calculate insurance rates, after I inserted it, the calculator doesn't work anymore, it's visible but I can't type in numbers & watch it calculate in real time. We're a small startup & G-Suites is all we have at the moment, soon we'll be switching platforms to AWS, but for now this what we have to work with. Does G-Suite allow this?

    • @Damsoncloud
      @Damsoncloud  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once your website is public on the web it will appear in search results. Where it will appear is a matter for SEO which is a separate challenge. I would suggest engaging an SEO expert for that.

    I made a Google Intranet site, but external users, although included in our Groups, cannot see the events. Am I missing something or do ALL of my users have to be part of the same business domain (i.e. No External Users allowed)?

    • @Damsoncloud
      @Damsoncloud  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there,
      It's possible that what is causing the problem here is your calendar, if it's events that are the problem.
      You need to add the group to the calendar as well.
      Let me know if that helps!
