I'm happy to see Austra! Sad news about Françoise Hardy. Epic video!

Well done showing newer groups. Lot of great music coming out. I have more female artist from newer groups than I do groups pre1990. I also have found a love for a lot of the newer female country singers

I agree Steve. Have you heard "Hurray For The Riff Raff" really nice female fronted Americana.

I’ve not heard of Austra. I’ll give them a listen.
I’d like to check out that Danish band, too. What’s their name? Baby in Vain?

Hi Mike, some brilliant choices there! Especially The Au Pairs, fantastic band! Were they a Leeds band? Wish I’d seen them live, a bit before my time. Hollie Cook also, agree, not enough reggae on the VC, and nice to see Françoise Hardy get a mention too. Icon of cool and a really interesting person who refused to succumb to her celebrity status. But so pleased to see you show the wonderful Jane Weaver ! Seen her live and met after the shows, she’s so talented. I used to live in Mirfield for a few years. And I loved the Brudenell, I once interviewed Johnny Marr there! That’s another story. I moved down from Glasgow and used to go on my own to loads of gigs, because I didn’t know anybody in the area who shared my music taste. Such a great venue. I now live in France and saw Jane play in a venue near Lyon a couple of years ago. We chatted after the gig and she remembered me from the last time we met. So cool. The new album is a belter ! I produce a monthly radio show for a mate from Bradford who’s now a composer and music producer. It’s for a station based in LA. I did a tribute to Françoise in the May edition. Here’s a link if you fancy a listen.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on! It was just so good to see someone trumpeting Jane’s work. All the best Mike.

Hi there. Thanks very much for watching and commenting. Jane Weaver has been one of my favourite singers for a long time and i think her latest is one of her best. I clicked on the link and had a listen. Lots of really interesting stuff. Nice to see Laetitia Sadier in the mix along with quite a lot of stuff I don't really know. Cheers Mike

Great entry Mike. I’m sure you’d get no head shaking from the band members (not having heard how a couple of those sirnames are pronounced I wouldn’t know… One of the danes sounds like she had an italian parent. Btw, a woolen hat in Norway is called a Lue. In Denmark, a Hue (sounds like who-eh). In Swedish it’s Mössa.
Never heard of any of those Scandinavians. Or the nordic Icelander. I’m a crap Scandivegian VC’er… sorry.
    Splendid as always Mike.

Hi Morten. Thanks for watching as always. And now if I find myself in Scandinavia without a woollen hat I know what to ask for. Cheers Mike

Mike - what a great thread entry, and thank you for taking the time to make it! I am really enjoying seeing what folks are sharing, and just about all of your selections were new artists to me. Jane Weaver, Holly Cook and Au Pairs - will be checking those out. All about being exposed to new music and seeing what other folks are passionate about, and sharing their stories. Appreciate the channel mention, have subbed, and looking forward to checking out your video library. Thanks! 😎🎶🎸🎤

Nice selection Mike and a good few I’ve not heard of. The Au Pairs are a band that are on my radar but I’ve never actually listened to… that’s a fantastic album cover. I really like Francoise Hardy and need to get some of her records. What album would you recommend to start on? Cheers, Jack

Hello Jack. Francoise Hardy's debut album is a good place to start. All of the first 5 albums are official self titled. But it's often called "Tous Les Garcons et les Files" I also really like her 1966 album called Francoise or sometimes "la maison ou j'ai grandi". If you want to sample her later stuff try "Gin Tonic". Cheers Mike

Hi Mike, a few names in there I’m not familiar with that I’m now going to have to check out. I was thinking about that Au Pairs album earlier today and if PC31 liked the Delta 5 album how he would probably also like that album as well. On the subject of female artists I listened to Fiona Apple’s Fetch the Bolt Cutters this evening for the first time in about a year and was reminded what an extraordinarily good album it is. Andy

Hi Andy. I'm not that familiar with Fiona Apple. Didn't she have an album with a really long title? I'll give her a listen.

Yes, the Idler Wheel…..I think she may be one of those Marmite artists but she is definitely worth exploring. Andy

I love the joy on your face when talking about Jane Weaver, that sounds like a great double gig experience within a few days of one another. Seeing solo then with band must have been great. Funnily enough I hadn’t heard of Jane until a good friend of mine said did I want to see her, about a month ago. I didn’t 🤷🏻‍♂️🤬 He also loves her and I missed it. Obviously a massive regret now!! I’ll get her new album and get into Jane-catch up mode. Problem not doing these threads straight away is between you and two others you have wiped out all of the women I had planned 😂😂 My own fault for procrastination! Lovely picks Mike as usual. Mike

Come on Mike! That's a poor excuse. As Mike says "you must have 500 women in your collection." 😂 Procrastination is not a good thing. I missed out on the Lovely Eggs current tour because I was slow off the mark.😭
