tbh hitler's corpse is really a minor plot point for the story of the Mullins games, like an interesting tidbit but really isn't that important in the grand scheme of the story
P03 succeeded in the transcendence, since we are playing the game and see him in the end. "Only an old fool would think that breaking the monitor turns off the pc"
Yeah. He literally uploaded the game to steam just to gloat. We are too late to do anything about it. And like...I don’t see the damage in that? Let our man be a stout on the internet dammit!
@@dustrose8101 This. Something that I think people miss is that P03 still "won" to a degree. My head canon is that perhaps the OLD_DATA started corrupting Luke's PC, and since P03 wouldn't actually die from his moniter being broken so he might've been able to back himself up to the PC or something, then "cobbled" together a version of the game using the recordings, like you said. He managed to put it together in some way, but it required the usage of Luke's Kamwerks files. Edit: another thing that i just remembered is that if we were actually playing as Luke, then we would be able to see the section where the Bone Lord talks about how he's learned more about the OLD_DATA and says that he can't record it-it isn't shown to us because we're not playing as Luke, we're playing as ourselves with some weird overlap of Luke's recordings.
Playing Leshy during the finale was easily one of my favorite, but saddest parts of the whole game. He gives you the deck that you won with in his version of the game, the same familiar music plays from Act 1, and these two lines: (The candlestick is deleted) "It's already starting. I thought we had just a bit more time..." "I sense the end approaching. Please... a few more rounds." We viewed Leshy as an evil character in Act 1, but that whole scene just feels like friends playing a card game.
I remember, at the start of act 2, I picked to replace Leshy for the same exact reason. "I will not give him a chance to do that again." or something else just as pretentious. And in those final moments, I keenly remember him saying that he felt honored that I picked him. That moment hit me in the heart.
I think the scrybes were, at worst, "normal" people with good and bad sides to them, but the fact that the disk they were on had all that supernatural stuff happening on it warped them. Maybe some were a little more on the bad side than others-I think P03 and Magnificus show cruelty towards their underlings, while Grimora and Leshy show kindness towards them-but they were cruel to each other at times, and at least in Magnificus' defense, everyone was cruel to Goobert. none of them were, like, inherently "serial killer" or "world domination" level evil, were it not for the Kartoffel code corrupting them. Leshy would have been fun, if a bit weird (I mean, his whole shtick involves lots of blood sacrifices...) if he wasn't, you know, trapping you in his cabin, making you pull your teeth out or gouge your eye out, and then stealing your soul. Even P03 seemed to care about the game being fun, even though most of his game was based around tricking you into doing stuff for him, and he was a petulant sore loser who looked down on you. He was a good heel. I get that Daniel Mullins doesn't really do sequels and that this game can't really *have* a sequel, at best it could only get Kaycee's mod type of updates to do roguelike runs with all the different scrybes, but I do wish there was a sequel of some kind. At the very least, I think taking the cards from Act 2 and turning them into a real TCG would be fun.
i'll admit, i cried when leshy got heartfelt with us in the finale. I loved Leshy's character so I was depressed to see him deleted. Then I lost that emotion when I found Kaycee's mod and got demolished over 20 gajillion times... lol
Did anyone else tear up when you shake leshy's hand? Realizing that all he wanted was to play the game against a formidable opponent and that he had a lot of respect for you really hit me emotionally, I think the nostalgia of returning to the cabin as well after everything that had happened really just destroyed me.
This is why Kaycee discovers that he is the perfect soft lock for the game. Out of all of them, Leshy just wants to play. Even if he knows he's just data in a file.
@@Lucylle Grimoras acceptance of death yet still thinking on what could have been, leshys sadness in that he will no longer be able to play with a friend (but grateful we humored him), and then magnificus utter fear of death and nonexistence and fighting as long as he can, only to be denied a last comfort. In between participating with the arg solving and this i became emotional wreck after the whole ending sequence lol.
My buddy had dead player card he named "The Mighty Sun." It had the 3 hit skill and did 5 damage each hit. The reveal of the moon was one of the best moments for everyone watching him play.
Wait, can you get other real life players deathcards in this game? I’m new and I’ve only seen one deathcard that wasn’t mine but it had such a generic name it though it was part of the game
@0-M72-0 I'm pretty sure these types of games are specifically made for a community of people to figure out together. A mimicry of older times when information on the internet wasn't so abundant, and kids would often discuss games they were all playing at the time. If you were stuck, you'd ask your friends what they did, and vice versa, often beating games by helping each other. Nowadays, games wanting to recreate that feeling have to be more convoluted because it's no longer just you and your school yard friends. We have the experiences of thousands of people playing the game to draw from. Meaning for most modern games, secrets will be discovered within hours of release.
Fantastic video with amazing editing, but I wanted to point out that Leshy does remember the events in Act 1 while he's in Act 2. He says something along the lines of "I took it too far" when regarding his treatment of the Scrybes and the game. PLUS, for people who are interested, there's going to be a 3 year Inscryption anniversary stream on another youtuber's channel with secrets from the game and 'leaks' of Daniel Mullens' new game which takes place in the same universe ;)
Something to consider- Kaycee mentions in her Dev Logs for Kaycee's mod that she played a round of card games against someone who was going to upload it to his TH-cam channel (most likely Luke), so the 1992 death might be a red herring/ cover.
@@normalthang Obviously. Especially since using the defibrillator against icicles is really stupid. Weird how that part didn’t get covered up. Whoever did that was quite sloppy about it.
How in the hell am I supposed to even discover half of this stuff alone? Cryptic stuf like this are amazing to see in detailed formats like these, but I feel super dumb knowing I was just "enjoying a card game roguelite like slay the spire".
The game gives plenty of clues to get out of act 1 though, and as soon as you enter act 2 you will get to the ending. Like sure, the arg stuff and digging in the files is something most player's would never do, but everything up to the deletion of the game is already a complete experience and everything else is just extra imo that was supposed to be figured out by the community and not by individual players
BeamBuddy has uploaded all of 4 videos and somehow pumps out nothing but absolute bangers. You’ve quickly become one of my favourite creators on the platform. Quality over quantity, and the quality is fucken peak.
Not sure if it's mentioned in the comments already, but one of the major links between Inscryption and The Hex is the Gamefuna rep that kills Luke. During that scene, for a brief moment (when the camera glitches out) one of the characters from The Hex, Sado, appears on her face right before she shoots Luke. One of the secret endings for The Hex (found after completing another awesome ARG) shows Sado escaping. Awesome video I loved reliving the story of Inscryption! I try and get all my friends to play it! I hope this Mullinsverse continues with Pony Island 2!
I started playing through this game a year or so ago and was completely mind blown every time the game changed to something new. I made it pretty far but ended up falling off and never finishing it. I was hesitant to check out this video because I kind of wanted to be surprised, but I'm glad I did. I NEVER would have followed up on all those cipher clues. Thanks for doing all the legwork, this was fantastic.
I find it hilarious how the mycologists, scribes, the bone Lord, and the player all try to pull the wool over P-03’s eyes and he still got the last laugh.
Gotta be long or you got it wrong Ain't aboutta be content in any other form So stretch those limits; that body; this mind Tell me everything you know, show me everything you find
Long form content is slop. You put it on, do something else, glance over every once in a while, and when it ends you don't notice for a few minutes. It's white noise, like turning on the radio or a TV, both have the same effect. You could attempt to appreciate it but the structuring is basically a let's play cut down into summaries, and then copying what the fan wiki has covered. Same trough, different feed.
Minor spoilers. For whatever reason, Inscryption hit me hard. First when I watched a lets-play on TH-cam, next - when I finished it myself. The game itself, the visuals, the music, the cabin, the Moon... The Scrybes' tragedy, being created to constantly feud, yet not necessarily okay with it... The "good bye, good game", and the "I must still shake your hand". And all the sacrifices that must be made. I'm not great at the game (Kaycee's Mod whoops my ass), but boy did it (ring)worm its way into my heart. It's one of the great ones. Also, can we acknowledge how good Daniel Mullins is at creating stories? His games are often praised for their secrets and ARGs, but it must be pointed out that the games themselves are fantastic. I can't recommend The Hex enough, it's relatively short and simple, but so, so worth your time.
dude the glitching at 1:26 did not have to include the pyro from the pyrocinical TF2 incident but this is my first exposure to your channel and i think im gonna like it here
Beam, ive been in a depressive episode not being able to find videos that scratch the itch that your videos do. To see this the night before im back in work is a true blessing. Keep it up!
Holy. PEAK. I was IMMERSED the entire video. I've beaten the game before but I had no idea it went this deep. I'm glad to see that this game truly deserves to be in the top 10 games of all time, I've always felt like there was more to it.
For clarification, it's not every time you sacrifice the ouroborus: every time it dies to anything, including sacrifice, its stats permanently increment by one. This increase ignores everything short of starting the entire game over again, and the card can rapidly become exceedingly overpowered to the point of easily ending entire matches in one or two turns. Personally, I didn't have an adder: I used it to mulch the moon in just a couple turns. In addition, it'll just return to your hand if killed in any way, ready to be summoned again. Without a single doubt, it's the single most overpowered card in the game, with the Geck coming in second.
@@andresroncaglia7079 In a game where everything costs something, the Geck costs nothing. You can play it the moment it enters your hand. Now, that doesn't immediately seem impressive, but the Geck can be powered up into a monster that ends matches in one or two turns if you draw it at the start. Imagine a Geck that has, say, 10 attack and the infinite perk, where it just goes back to your hand if killed. The moment it's killed, it goes right back onto the field and attacks again next turn, no sacrifice or bones needed.

I think the biggest secret is how BeamBuddy just spawned in one day and has continued to drop banger videos. There's gotta be some dark magic going on or something
The production quality of this video is amazing. I've purchased the game a while ago, played through what seems to be act 1 and couldn't really figure out the rest of the game and put it away until now. After watching this video, I have a lot more respect for the game and what it hides "under the hood". It's mindblowing to imagine the length at which the developers went to to create a secret like that. I don't think any other games comes close to this but maybe I'm wrong there. Eitherway, I'll definitely be watching the other videos you've posted. I love understanding more about video games that i've played in the past!
I honestly felt the SOMA video was wildly disappointing. It was just a very basic summary of the story without addressing any of the concepts that made the game so interesting. Posthumanism, transhumanism, what it means to be human, what it means to BE. So many interesting questions with no right answers.
@@DocRobotnik Have any others addressed the deeper concepts then? Because most ive seen just offer very flat observations. "Guys it's like Amnesia but underwater and in the future!" Or worse yet focus on the whole plot from Simons perspective alone, not digging any deeper in the concepts than oh god two Simons thats crazy guys.
@@AWEismaschine i mean i never played SOMA, all i know about it is from Beams vid but I thought the posthumanism and existentialism themes were pretty obvious with the video. The story doesn't have answers really. Its what makes it so thought provoking
I like how the ending of it all basically hints to the fact that C03 succeeded in uploading the game, That's why you and I are able to play it. Goated game
Great video man and definitely brings back memories of me coming up with theories for this game. One small correction I would like to make is that, while it's unknown if GameFuna had any play during Luke's death. It is seen tho that the girl who killed Luke is actually a character from The Hex. Sado. You even see a frame of her face taking up the girl's face. Sado was a character created out of spite by one of Lionel's hired developers. Her purpose was to wreak havoc across Lionel's games. I had a theory about this game that Sado after being released into the real world at the end of The Hex. Sado hunted down the OLD_DATA to try and reactive a doomsday device somewhere in Berlin because it's what she was made for. So her killing Luke means she finally has the OLD_DATA, or what's left of it. P0-3 might have inventively actually helped us to put a stop to Sado's plan. Releasing the game online for people to witness what the OLD_DATA is, the players might be able to decode it and maybe disarm the device before Sado can reactivate it. This is just a shorter version of my theory, but definitely fun trying to piece it together.
I remember looking up stuff about the Bone Lord because I was wondering what the lore with him was after Chapter 2, and then I saw the ribcage was apparently Mr. German Mustache's, and realized I had absolutely no clue how deep this lore went
This is the most insane Easter egg I’ve ever heard of. There no other rabbit hole that goes this deep for a video game and you did an amazing job covering it. Thank you
Beautiful Animations, Editing, Voice Over, Storytelling, leaving enough game footage to know the game, simply not skippable because it is so well made. Really loving your work , the effort really shows and is very much appreaciated!
Leshy quotes Jim Croce's "time in a bottle" "there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you've found them" Idk kinda neat
I would think the implication about the cards in Hitler's pocket was not that he created them, but that he was killed after learning the code himself. Hitler was well known for seeking the occult, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to say that in this world, he sought it out and it killed him like it killed everyone else who came in contact with it. Idk maybe I just take issue with Hitler being a character in one of my favorite games.
That’s so real like I hate the fact that this war criminal who committed horrible atrocities is like a for real plot point in this game it just kinda feels disrespectful and like a sell out
Hitler is just used as a way to say "OOOHHH LOOK AT HOW EVIL THIS IS OOOHHH" because hitler is considered "the most evil" person ever in the public eye.
Found this by chance and loved this video. “The Game The Devs Don’t Want You To Know About” was the first(?) title paused and decided to finish a little later. Then the title changes to honestly I forgot but it had letters at the end. Now you labeled it just “Inscryption”. It’s like as if the video feels alive trying to hide and I love it you mad genius. I’ve subscribed, loved the game but I couldn’t have gotten all of this lore by myself. Looking forward to seeing you more.
Absolutely incredible video. I would never never discovered like, anything this game had in store and your delivery of each new twist or turn was flawless. A genuine joy to watch. Thanks for taking the time!
I thought I found out almost everything about one of my all time favorite games and then I run into this video, you just showed me why Daniel is one of the most outlandish game devs out there and how much his work has to be recognized because this is some insane creativity to put out over the course of many years, honestly he is a pioneer in the industry and the way he tied everything together, things that you didnt even think were tied to one another, is absolutely insane. Like never in my life I would think each game is related to one another and it just shows me that he is creating this gigantic universe with each game he creates, now im extra excited for pony island 2
This game almost feels like an Alan Resnick project, especially with how much meta narrative and multimedia layers to the mystery. I'm reminded of This House Has People In It and Unedited Footage Of A Bear in the best of ways.
35:40 the only other time I've seen this played is Markiplier's playthrough, and he did the same bone heap thing every time. It was absolutely hilarious and something I will in fact be doing if I ever play Inscryption.
Karnoffel(karnöffel in german) is an old german/swiss card game and the oldest recorded european card game, versions of it with different names are still played today. Apparently there was even a devil card in old versions of it.
Dude I got genuinely excited when I saw this pop up in my feed. I don’t ever get excited. That is the highest compliment I can pay you. “Lil Help You” is such a funny moment lmfao

Man I lowkey love the idea of a "channels talking about silly older internet culture turned legendary turned overused turned into actually good inspiration like it's all still in the first phases with the full seriousness of it's legacy" side of youtube. Not quite how I think of it, but will do for a silly comment Edit: this is quite a bit more than I remember from regular quality Matpat, and the ARG part goes full speed
Goddam, I love watching long as detailed videos regarding hidden secrets about games I’ve never played. And this guy does it amazingly well. Banger after banger
only the real ones would get the ouroboros to over a hundred hp and power in act 2 frfr also at the end there are other people that went over all the stories and combined them together and it is actually thought that instead of hitler making the karnoffel code it was satan who made it instead because in the other games that are confirmed to have satan as an actagonist there are hidden things all pointing back to the karnoffel code so there's that for you that's why the cards have so much power and why the old_data has to much power as well
Very cool video! One thing though. The "kaycee" that the Angler talks about being is one of Grimoras ghouls and NOT the real life devoloper. When you solve the epitaph tomstone puzzle in act 2 one of the tombstones does say Kaycee, but if you talk to the ghoul after beating her she says "Hey didja know? I'm named after one of the developers of Inscryption! Pretty cool, huh?" So this is meant to be a clue telling you that Kaycee Hobbes was one of the games devopers, but not that they are the same, or proof that the angler beat/killed her.
Okay so, if I'm getting this straight: the game is a makeshift upload made by stoatboi out of video files, uploaded to steam after you-duder failed to break the actual pc, the bone lord is hitler and there's a code to a nuke somewhere in the game to destroy berlin, and the gametuna is a front for trying to do something with the code. Also the code is magic. What
i am. . .so confused, all of this lore, all of these games, this ARG, for some plot about cards that trigger a super weapon? like, it makes some sense, but like, why? it feels so out of field from the rest of the game, just feels a bit to idk anticlimactic? honestly i think p03's great trancendence was a way more interesting plot point then what i think if im getting this right it all built up to
It gets more interesting when you realize that Hitler probably got inspired by the devil, who likes making games, and the reason GameFuna had the disk in the first place was probably an attempt to ctrl z their mistake with giving a doomsday weapon
im with u dude, it feel cringe? or maybe like u said anticlimatic, It had amazing build up, only to end up with the whole decripting code bullshit, that still fine to a degree, and then we hit the most boring plot had ever been and out of field too, hilter badge had connection with devil bala bla bla, and some secret agent want to burry it, it felt like the hundred time i heard this stupid plot alrd. dont get me wrong, incryption is an amazing game, but the old_data reveal, is pepega af, its very anticlimatic. Even dokidoki literature club monika AI is 100 times better than this shit.
I have a bit of stuff from other TH-camrs as well... One says that the 4 characters in the OLD_DATA are actually the 4 characters in it, each one regretting their actions as well. Combined with the symbology used throughout the entire game as well, & you learn that the entire game is a trap devised to lure unsuspecting gamers into an early grave for them. The 4 people after dying presumably, are the 4 scribes you want to defeat. Kaycee is obvious, Grimora, Reginold Hated Kaminski, so Kaminski would be Leshy, & Reginold would be P03. That just leaves Gamefuna as Person X & also The one who lost an eye. Legends were told that Kaminski had already lost an eye, but not a true one... A metaphorical one, of of his glasses lenses were broken at his time near his own death. As Kaminski laid dying, he asked to be reincarnated, even in a digital format in the future. So, his wish was granted: In the near future, Kaminski had Kaycee & Reginold already uploaded his data into an old floppy disk, The Old_Data. So, when decrypted, he found out his subconscious was already uploaded to the mainframe of the database, so he thought he could too if he was killed! Or, just dead somehow. Kaycee got killed by GameFuna, & her subconscious along with Reginold's right after him were uploaded into the game as well. Ever wonder why Gamefuna looked similar to Kaycee??? Look again... There's a reason why. Kaycee was never killed... It was actually her mom that was killed, & Reginold had disguised his voice as her mother. Spies have a knack for disguising themselves, and how do we know we can trust P03, let alone Reginold as well? Kaminski was protecting the data to die along with Hitler, presumably. So when Reginold found the Old_Data, he hatched a plan... To pin it on someone else instead, to try & save Kaycee once and for all. Kaycee is out there, waiting for us somewhere. Now all we need to do is find the Dungeon Master, & Play Her Game, if we haven't already. Presuming that Grimora had already made herself an an AI character in the game, it's likely that Kaycee's Mom is That Woman in The Secret Passage, provided she knows about it as well. The other characters are likely AI unrelated unless someone else dies irl for them as well, presuming that since The Person looking at Our Player in The Hex knows they've tried to kill us before, it's likely that they know that no matter how many times they try to stop us, they cannot. Stoat already uploaded the game with GameFuna's help, & he also knows we are powerless to stop him as well. GameFuna is Hex, & also Lucas Carder is also the fisherman. We also need to find the rest of who died & compare the rest to them as well... Perhaps digging up Incryption was like digging up a grave, somehow? That would mean that Incryption is a game that is likely supposed to be paid for, similar towards getting the black disks, towards paying "an obel" of sorts. It's a ticket into the afterlife, & what we see in the game, are the afterlives of everyone who's died so far. BUT HEY!!! THAT'S JUST A THEORY!!! A GAME THEORY!!! THANKS FOR READING!!!...
Wow. I love games with that much layers of stuff to discover, but I could NEVER get this deep myself, which is why I watch videos like this; thanks a lot for making it !

At least you got half of it, I would've never noticed if I were you!
Yup, I don’t understand how people make these conspiracy theory level connections. I guess you just need enough people to try everything?
@0-M72-0 I'm pretty sure these types of games are specifically made for a community of people to figure out together. A mimicry of older times when information on the internet wasn't so abundant, and kids would often discuss games they were all playing at the time. If you were stuck, you'd ask your friends what they did, and vice versa, often beating games by helping each other. Nowadays, games wanting to recreate that feeling have to be more convoluted because it's no longer just you and your school yard friends. We have the experiences of thousands of people playing the game to draw from. Meaning for most modern games, secrets will be discovered within hours of release.
@ Thats why I’m saying you just need people to try everything. Because at this point you got so many people trying stuff they can do that.

Something to consider- Kaycee mentions in her Dev Logs for Kaycee's mod that she played a round of card games against someone who was going to upload it to his TH-cam channel (most likely Luke), so the 1992 death might be a red herring/ cover.

The game gives plenty of clues to get out of act 1 though, and as soon as you enter act 2 you will get to the ending.

@@scrittlewhile your not paying attention, the rest of us are. Have fun either way bud
There is a reason we're all getting recommended this channel. Its worth everybodys time to watch
I love the core gameplay of act 1. I have almost 100 hours of just Kaycee’s mode
dude the glitching at 1:26 did not have to include the pyro from the pyrocinical TF2 incident but this is my first exposure to your channel and i think im gonna like it here
Beam, ive been in a depressive episode not being able to find videos that scratch the itch that your videos do.
Inscryption is a gaming experience everyone should have for themselves, even after watching this video. Incredible game
Agreed
For clarification, it's not every time you sacrifice the ouroborus: every time it dies to anything, including sacrifice, its stats permanently increment by one. This increase ignores everything short of starting the entire game over again, and the card can rapidly become exceedingly overpowered to the point of easily ending entire matches in one or two turns. Personally, I didn't have an adder: I used it to mulch the moon in just a couple turns. In addition, it'll just return to your hand if killed in any way, ready to be summoned again. Without a single doubt, it's the single most overpowered card in the game, with the Geck coming in second.
what does the geck do to be overpowered??
@@andresroncaglia7079 In a game where everything costs something, the Geck costs nothing. You can play it the moment it enters your hand. Now, that doesn't immediately seem impressive, but the Geck can be powered up into a monster that ends matches in one or two turns if you draw it at the start. Imagine a Geck that has, say, 10 attack and the infinite perk, where it just goes back to your hand if killed. The moment it's killed, it goes right back onto the field and attacks again next turn, no sacrifice or bones needed.

Let's play summaries and copying the wiki
The production quality of this video is amazing. I've purchased the game a while ago, played through what seems to be act 1 and couldn't really figure out the rest of the game and put it away until now. After watching this video, I have a lot more respect for the game and what it hides "under the hood". It's mindblowing to imagine the length at which the developers went to to create a secret like that. I don't think any other games comes close to this but maybe I'm wrong there. Eitherway, I'll definitely be watching the other videos you've posted. I love understanding more about video games that i've played in the past!
This dude has 4 videos and has already cemented himself as a titan in the genre!
Cant believe Pyro stole your darkwood vid, then hinted at stealing your Soma vid. I guess we can expect the Pyrocynical Inscription video soon!
he also stole beam's iconic character design smh
I honestly felt the SOMA video was wildly disappointing. It was just a very basic summary of the story without addressing any of the concepts that made the game so interesting. Posthumanism, transhumanism, what it means to be human, what it means to BE. So many interesting questions with no right answers.
@@DocRobotnik Have any others addressed the deeper concepts then? Because most ive seen just offer very flat observations.
"Guys it's like Amnesia but underwater and in the future!"

@@AWEismaschine i mean i never played SOMA, all i know about it is from Beams vid but I thought the posthumanism and existentialism themes were pretty obvious with the video. The story doesn't have answers really. Its what makes it so thought provoking
To be fair, I would definitely buy that Luke was super into geocaching (which would give him a reason to know his general coordinates)
I love the fact youtube is recommending these goated niche creators, 2nd one today and honestly you're killing it
I remember looking up stuff about the Bone Lord because I was wondering what the lore with him was after Chapter 2, and then I saw the ribcage was apparently Mr. German Mustache's, and realized I had absolutely no clue how deep this lore went

Sometimes i wonder ... how do you come up with something like this?
And then I start to wonder even more ... how do people solve this?

Goddam, I love watching long as detailed videos regarding hidden secrets about games I’ve never played. And this guy does it amazingly well. Banger after banger
only the real ones would get the ouroboros to over a hundred hp and power in act 2 frfr
also at the end there are other people that went over all the stories and combined them together and it is actually thought that instead of hitler making the karnoffel code it was satan who made it instead because in the other games that are confirmed to have satan as an actagonist there are hidden things all pointing back to the karnoffel code so there's that for you that's why the cards have so much power and why the old_data has to much power as well
Very cool video! One thing though. The "kaycee" that the Angler talks about being is one of Grimoras ghouls and NOT the real life devoloper.
When you solve the epitaph tomstone puzzle in act 2 one of the tombstones does say Kaycee, but if you talk to the ghoul after beating her she says
"Hey didja know? I'm named after one of the developers of Inscryption! Pretty cool, huh?"
So this is meant to be a clue telling you that Kaycee Hobbes was one of the games devopers, but not that they are the same, or proof that the angler beat/killed her.
Also the code is magic.

i am. . .so confused, all of this lore, all of these games, this ARG, for some plot about cards that trigger a super weapon? like, it makes some sense, but like, why? it feels so out of field from the rest of the game, just feels a bit to idk anticlimactic? honestly i think p03's great trancendence was a way more interesting plot point then what i think if im getting this right it all built up to
All the lore ties together really well if you've played all of Mullin's games
It gets more interesting when you realize that Hitler probably got inspired by the devil, who likes making games, and the reason GameFuna had the disk in the first place was probably an attempt to ctrl z their mistake with giving a doomsday weapon
yeah, tbqh, I liked the plot about dangerous data that can make AI sapient, but bringing up the Austrian painter was kinda on the nose.
im with u dude, it feel cringe? or maybe like u said anticlimatic, It had amazing build up, only to end up with the whole decripting code bullshit, that still fine to a degree, and then we hit the most boring plot had ever been and out of field too, hilter badge had connection with devil bala bla bla, and some secret agent want to burry it, it felt like the hundred time i heard this stupid plot alrd.
