    I've watched Cinderella ever since I was five and this movie is so enjoyable that I could watch it over and over again and would still smile for how charming this movie is. I will always remember this movie as the thing that defines and Disney classic

    Ah the gold standard of fairytales! People love this story and keep telling it over and over and over because, it is an immortal tale. The basic narrative dates back to 600 BC and a story about Rhodophis, a Greek slave girl who's sandal was carried away by a bird and left in front of an Egyptian king. He found the owner of the sandal and married her. Cinderella is practically ingrained in us as people.

    Ok, I re-watched Cinderella a few weeks ago to see if there was anything in particular I wanted to say in your review, but honestly, I couldn't think of much more than to say this film is nearly flawless! Everything to the animation, the songs, and the writing truly makes this film magnificent! Not to say that this movie is exactly my favorite, I think that title goes to Dumbo. (Nostalgia always wins) Speaking of which, I was originally going to make a comparison to Dumbo with this movie because it was pretty much the only thing I could think of to say, but of course you already did. All in all, this movie is gorgeous if not perfect! Glad Disney managed to pull this one off, or who knows what would of happened to the studio!

    Good to see another review. This is definitely a movie I never appreciated as a kid. I watched it a bit, but not as often as some other Disney movies. In fact the only Disney princess movie I watched quite a bit as a kid was The Little Mermaid. But now I can really appreciate what Cinderella accomplished. Definitely one of their best films. So is the Mary Poppins stuff due for next month?

    • @JoeTheDisneyGuy
      @JoeTheDisneyGuy  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's funny, because I was similar; something about Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty being "princess movies" made them seem too girly for me. And provided I actually find some time, yeah, gonna try to get some Mary Poppins in this month.

    I've seen both this version & the 2015 live-action version. The latter gives more detail on Cinderella's background, including how she came to be orphaned to begin with. It also has the king die, & the prince succeed him as king, just before the wedding. And it reports at the end that the stepmother & stepsisters have been banished from the kingdom & told never to return.

    i really loved this film, and it was such a great thing to see after all the package films. the animation is amazing, the voice acting is amazing, there's some really funny moments, it's just a amazing film. i give it a 9/10. also, Lady Tremaine, is just so evil, i genuinely hated her.

    What I remember from watching Cinderella as a little kid there were 2 scenes that really impacted me.
    When Cinderella's dress gets torn apart by her sisters. I wonder people realize how downright cruel and messed up this scene is. The ball was Cinderella's ticket to 1 night, 1 freaking night where she can finally have some fun. A moment of fun in her miserable life. She was looking so forward to it, wearing a dress from her mother (modified a bit) that was a gift from her best friends. And it gets ripped into shreds by these bitches.
    I didn't cry when Mufasa died. I did cry when this happened :(
    The other scene is the 12 o'clock strike. When she flees the ball and gets chased by guards. I remember I was shouting at the screen 'get out of that carriage!". XDXDXD
    I was legit afraid she'd get crushed by it as it would reverse back to a small pumpkin with her still inside of it. Of course she magically transported herself on top of it after the scene but still... It was tense.

    Funny how the deleted scenes you mentioned were used in the live-action feature, though I felt that the elk scene was meant as more of a Bambi reference than actual plot point there.

    I'd say both Cinderella and Dumbo work effectively in their own ways. Cinderella was a kind woman who could express how she felt through her face expressions and words, and Dumbo was a sweet baby who was misjudged for something he couldn't help. He didn't need to speak to portray the heartache he was going through.

    I have three favorite adaptations of Cinderella. Disney's version for nostalgic reasons, Cinders a visual novel video game were the player reads through the story and makes choices at crucial points to change the outcome, leading to one out of four different endings (not just the fairy tail ending) It's really cool I recommend you check this game out, and Cendrellion a Vocaloid song were Cinderella (Hatsune Miku) is an assassin sent to kill the prince (Kaito) at the ball but get's conflicted when she starts to fall for the prince.

    • @JoeTheDisneyGuy
      @JoeTheDisneyGuy  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very cool, and yeah, Cinderella has had a million different adaptations, which is why the fact that one made in 1950 is still relevant in popular culture today is so fascinating to me

    This film was "Princess and the Frog" of the Walt Disney Era. It was Disney's return to fairytale stories and narratives and it didn't disappoint. It brought Disney out of the gutter and after this, they remained strong for a while until the Dark Age Era, but for what it is, yeah, Cinderella is a classic. It was yet another Disney film that I watched often.
    The character of Cinderella has gone on to become one of the most popular Disney princesses and the leader of the franchise and still is to this day. (Of course, I don't know how long that will last if a certain ice queen from Frozen has anything to say about.)
    Also, on another note, the stepsisters aren't really that ugly. At times, they're actually pretty attractive.

    • @JoeTheDisneyGuy
      @JoeTheDisneyGuy  10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Ira Sutton I think that Cinderella will always be seen as one of the main mascots for the Disney Princess line, just because Cinderella is such an iconic princess. And funny story about the stepsisters, they actually were originally drawn much uglier but Walt had the animators scale back on that a little bit.

    "Cinderella" is another example of how underrated Clarence Nash was. The bird tweets were obviously done by him(At least when they were singing) when you compare them to the tweeting he did in "A day in the life of Donald Duck." Same with when Gus was laughing at Lucifer after scaring him off as a hoarse. I remember seeing something with Jimmy McCDonald showing all the old sound effects equipment, one of which included a little whistle or something that sounds like multiple birds chirping. Do you know anything about it, because I don't know who they used more for the birds, Clarence Nash, or that whistle.

    • @JoeTheDisneyGuy
      @JoeTheDisneyGuy  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isaiah Williams It's always tough to pinpoint who did background sounds in this era, mainly because credits weren't really a thing yet. I know that by this time, Nash was a full time employee and MacDonald obviously was the head sound guy, so it could have been either one

I was really looking forward to it and wanted to know more about his past. If it's still in development, is there hope for a special episode on November 18 for a certain 3 foot mouse?

    I really love Cinderella. Becuse I can understand and fell for her. And I always love stories where the main character triumph over hardship´s. It´s funny that Disney before never really got the hang to create good male main characters. I almost thought of them as avatars for the audience. Example. I can see myself as the prince becuse I as an watcher want Cinderella got get a happy ending. So I wanna be the key to her happines. Hard to explain all this. They are al emotions. Really fun to see all this background work. I get almost all my insperation from Diseny during Walt´s time. The passion. All the ods against him. I will be looking at the rest of your videos. I am kind of a Disney nerd myself. I have done some videos about Disney but I wanna make more. maybe not with facts but explaining the emotions I get watching this movies.

    • @JoeTheDisneyGuy
      @JoeTheDisneyGuy  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahturo s You should definitely do that and thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you like the videos.
      And yeah, it is sorta odd that Disney really couldn't get a prince with real defined character traits until at least Sleeping Beauty, but, I kind of like that idea about them being vehicles for the audience to put themselves into.

    Ok, so in my own little mental timeline, from here to Sleeping Beauty, I'm going to consider this to be what I call the "silver era". (The movies that you call the silver era I'm going to consider the bronze era.) I just feel mentally better having the Golden era not chopped in half.

    • @JoeTheDisneyGuy
      @JoeTheDisneyGuy  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha yeah, most people don't split the Golden Era, but in my mind, the characteristics of the films are so similar that it's hard for me to differentiate them. And yes, Cinderella is really a fantastic show of animation and Disney storytelling

    My feelings for Cinderella are exactly the same as my feelings for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Despite the boredom I feel watching it as a movie, I am thankful to it for what it specifically did to Walt Disney. Because Cinderella succeeded at its time, Walt Disney could now go back to full animated movies where he belonged. I will say that I like Snow White just a little bit better, though. Snow White was immediately followed by Pinocchio, so I can take Snow White as a foresight to future greatness. With Cinderella, I doubt I will be the first or the last to say it feels like Cinderella is copying Snow White. It stars a female princess, it has multiple funny sidekicks, an mean stepmother, a prince who rarely appears, and multiple songs. I think there are other people who feel De-Ja-Vou from seeing Snow White and Cinderella together.
