  • I brought Canadian snacks to my American family! We had a blast trying these new sweet and savory treats. Finding snacks I've never tried before is one of my favorite travel activities, and it's a great way to share you travels with your loved ones.
Here's part 2 of the taste test: • Americans Try Canadian...
You may still be able to find some of these snacks on Amazon if you live outside of Canada. If you're planning a trip to Canada, just wait until you get there to stock up because it is much cheaper! If you want to check out your options on Amazon, here are some links:
Lay's ketchup chips (I love the mixed reactions on these!): amzn.to/45rDu8r
Smarties (similar to M&M's but with a crunchier shell): amzn.to/3DVxyZo
Cheezies (similar to Cheetos but way crunchier): amzn.to/3YzNPwC
Coffee Crisp (if you love coffee and chocolate, this one is for you): amzn.to/45piOOe
All Dressed Ruffles (my favorite Canadian snack): amzn.to/3saBG5s
Maple creme cookies (Made with 100% pure Canadian maple syrup): amzn.to/47xwJ6G
AERO milk chocolate (melts in your mouth): amzn.to/3skijqo
Services I use to create my videos:

In Canada you can buy cheezies (their brand) at Walmart… much cheaper than Hawkins but they are the OG. Next time when you visit buy almost any Cadbury chocolate… it is British but sorry, so much better than American chocolate. A couple others bars you missed Crispy Crunch (maybe a bit like a butter finger but not so peanut buttery) and Cherry Blossom and Eatmore (peanuts in molasses toffee). Also hickory sticks. I lived in Texas in the 80’s and am looking forward to seeing all your relative’s reactions.

I have travelled both sides of the border with positive results. I like the difference of opinion on both sides. It is an experience, despite how close the border may be. "up there", or " down there" define the differences regardless of a few miles to the border. Wouldn't change a thing. Love to both sides.

Love their reactions to the snacks! 😂 I recommend having the maple cookies with a nice cup of orange pekoe tea. So good! 👍 When you end up back in Edmonton you should check out some of our festivals, a hockey game, or one of many hidden gems to eat at. It’s worth it. Oh, and the main attraction. She bought a lot of things I would buy if sending a canadian snacks care package. I might add a few other favorites too, but these were mostly A+ picks. Old Dutch would have been the more culturally niche brands on the chips though, and they invented ketchup chips.

    • @LidiaExplores
      @LidiaExplores  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks for watching! The Lays were a very specific choice. I posted a video a few weeks ago where I drove through BC/Yukon for the first time and I ate Old Dutch ketchup chips. You would not believe how many comments I got on the chips. The number one comment was that I should have gone with Lays ketchup chips, so that's what I did here.

  • @aperson6968

Never seen the turkey hill maple cookies. Dare maple cookies is the more familiar one I would think. Available everywhere and quite a common favourite. If you don’t like salt and vinegar chips you likely won’t be a fan of ketchup. They are a fairly strong flavour but good. Love all those other snacks. Smarties are a prized Halloween candy 😊. Maple fudge can be found wherever handmade fudge is sold, typically fairs and specialty shops. These are very popular on the prairies. Can’t really speak for BC or the East. You missed a few though - butter tarts, Nanaimo bars, and Saskatoon berry pie come to mind.

A point on the all dressed chips from a Canadian, what a lot of people not from here dont get is we use viniger as a condiment not just an ingredient, so sometimes french fries are just doused in qhite viniger with salt or battered fish is dipped in malt viniger, ao a lot of people find all dressed chips to be very vinigery but for us its actually rather tame.

As a Canadian, the only snacks there that I enjoy are they all dressed chips, and coffee crisp. I am not a big fan of anything maple, especially the maple fudge. That stuff will turn you into a diabetic with one bite. Smarties always taste stale. If there is one Canadian snack I am sure all Americans would love, the awesome butter tart. It is like a mini pecan pie, but without pecans, sometimes they have raisins. They are really good, just packed with sugar.

The maple cookies are a gimmick even in Canada. Coffee crisp, aero and all dressed chips are pretty common though. For a real treat you should have bought some BC smoked salmon, its pre cooked and in a package good for years. You break off pieces and put on a cracker - a place sells them on amazon.
