      I have had one of those cot for years that I would use in my office when I worked 16 hour days. I’m retired and until I saw this video I never thought I’d use it again. I river raft on slow rivers with a big raft fishing for salmon and I’m getting one of these tents. No more gravel bars under my back for me. I also have a side by side that will this will work nice for. The poles could also be made to connect two together with a space between them.

      @@TheEmporiumOutdoors It is terrif. Admittedly I have only played with it in the backyard..but just the cot is amazing. I could've used it last December in the snow as it seems it would work as a bench seat for 3 adults. My dog is a 95lb German Shephard and he popped right in with me and made himself at home. There was still plenty of room for both of us so to speak, to stretch out . Way to go. Besides a canopy shelter Im still wondering how to solve the getting in and out problem if it is raining. Maybe just yossing a poncho over the entrance and securing it somehow.

    Hi guys, Nice video, I'm sure you know, I'm not a fan of tent cots, just to small for me. I have to have room to move around inside when it's raining or snowing. I was wondering the same thing about rain and snow getting under the tent. Good to know there is a covering that goes to the ground. I still think the Eskimo ice shelter is the best thing since sliced bread, LOL. I also like the Snow Treker, that's a nice tent easy and fast to set up. It's getting time for a camping trip video. Take care guys.

    Hello Michael. Thanks for the videos. I already owned a Gander Mountain Titan XXL cot and purchased the Vista 2 tent and elite rain fly in green after watching your videos. I absolutely love the set up. I use a Field & Stream self inflating pad that fits inside the tent perfectly. I also have the under cot storage, organizer and rifle sheath to complete the set. Great video Michael! I really like this tent/cot setup. The only dissadvantage is the lack of space for cooking or just sitting down and relaxing but a good size vestibule would be perfect, especially on rainy days. Your idea of joining two tent cots with each a large vestibule is awesome ! That could easily provide a 6 x 12 area ! I would take this a step further and install a stove jack with a wood stove. Thanks and take care.

    Love mine (although, I have the "original" set-up/color). I also added the skirts you can attach to the side of the cot for organizational storage... but, haven't even needed them thus far. The loft for personal items is a BIG bonus for this tent, it really lacked without having one... but, there are those optional pieces I mentioned earlier. LOL The new elite skirt is also improved. The original does not have the vent, and it NEEDS it. I don't think the original's elite fly has the vestibule feature either.
    I'm 6'0" and north of 300lbs. and find this quite comfy for sleeping in, and no lack of sturdiness either. I also have the mattress pad. It does tend to soak in moisture (condensation) and needs airing out later.
    I have this system and my hammock system stowed in my Tahoe 24/7, along with my camping essentials. All I need to do is stuff food/ice in the cooler and I'm off and camping. Love it.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree the loft is a nice touch. They did make some nice improvements on the Elite Fly also and the vent is needed if you are in the damp or humid environment. I find the pad does pull some moisture also but a quick air out with the sleeping bag the next day helps a lot! That sounds like an awesome setup with the Tahoe! Perfect! 👍

    Although I don't tent camp anymore, that would be a perfect little setup for over nighters during cross-country traveling in a car or pickup. I can see myself in a rustic campground with it. I'm 5' 11", and I have to use a CPAP machine, so a powered campsite could be necessary. Or, I could run an inverter off the car battery...but either way I have to lay straight and flat on my back, but I don't think touching both ends would be that big of a deal. I love the set up. With a small clamp-on fan for the summer or a small suspendable electric heater for the winter, it would be great...although maybe the heater would be overkill. One of my dogs with me would do...Good video!

    Hey Michael ! Thank You for your earlier video suggesting adding alternative colours for the cot tent. It looks like Teton listened !! Bravo Teton Sports ! I already have the xxl outfitter cot, purchased after watching your earlier videos (love it) and now have ordered a new cot tent in brown (all I could find in stock) and plan on ordering the larger premium tent fly in green once I can find one. Quick question for you: other than ease of set up, is the Teton xxl camp pad more comfortable than a 2.5 inch self inflating pad ? That’s what I use now. I don’t mind the set up, but from your videos, that pad looks so damn comfy ???

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey @Seanoutdoors2 Glad you are liking the TETON setup and I also like the brown color! As far as the TETON pad - I sometime use the Therm-a-Rest BaseCamp XL which is 2 inches (5 cm) thick and find it comfortable. If you already have a 2.5" self inflating mat I wouldn't upgrade it. The TETON pad is nice but I don't think it would be an upgrade on what you have! Save the money for something else 😉

      If you are looking for comfort my thermarest MondoKing XL is incredibly comfortable on the ground, I can only imagine it's even more comfortable in this setup. Plus it has one of the highest R-ratings for insulation. I recommend it if size is not an issue.

    I'm American & 6' 1",.. which is average here. I've never er seen a tent etc. That was less than 7' long. Other than that, it's a cool set up for solo camping. But 5' 9"'s & your touching the end !!!

      Kenton 6'1" is not the average in the US! 😁 Its 5' 9" but if you said you lived in the Netherlands I would have agreed! 😄 But you are right - It should be at least 6' to accommodate more people. The cot is huge and could easily support a bigger tent! 👍 Thanks for the feedback!

    Hello Michael, I camp with a CPAP device, battery and solar panel to power the battery. In the cot tent, is there a hole which would allow a lead from the battery outside to the CPAP device inside the cot? My knees are a bit dodgy so the cot looks like a pretty good way to go.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm - Good question! I think closing the zipper around the hose would work and seal you in. The doors is pretty close to your head so it wouldn't be too far away. My wife uses a CPAP also when we camp and the Jackery Explorer 500 I have works great! Those batteries have been a god send for people who need a little help breathing and love to camp out! 👍

    Michael, very nice tent. But at minus 40°C, without oven in the tent, definitely without bottle of vodka, or 2 very uncomfortable. Laugh, how does the ventilation work with the 2 dogs, or are they already on a diet before. From experience, from time to time the narcotic law applies fully.

    You have shown us an interesting setup. However, I would have preferred watching this when it was raining or windy. You made no mention if this will keep a person dry during a rainstorm, or does it leak when it rains? I'd like to see you or any one person put the fly on when it's WINDY. I also wish you'd shown us how much condensation accumulates inside after an overnighter.

      All very good questions and if you check though my older videos you will see me using this setup during all seasons including a -30c Canadian winter camping trip. 🥶 I've been using the TETON cot for many years and made several videos with it. • @aliceg9571

    I was thinking the same idea about making it larger so you have a separate living area just outside of the bed area. You said it was a 3 season tent? How cold would you be able to use it and be comfortable? Wondering if under the cot area would make it too cold. Short of just adding a tarp to the front area would seem like extra work and since it isn’t a one piece tent maybe not as easy to keep warm and also have a chance of rain getting in. Thanks Michael, Esme and Simon for sharing the video. Til the next one. ATB

    Just a thought about the setup and the rolled up vestibules. You said, you thought about the way to roll it up, and you way is a good way to get the rain water away from the tent, but on the other hand, if you turn them the " natural way" you wanted to do first, you would be able to collect some rain water. isnt that a good solution, if you are running out of water or am i wrong ?
