    I've had my Xperia 1 mark ii for over three years now. It's been a fantastic phone and it still works perfectly. But the mark V looks like it has a lot of hardware and feature upgrades to now warrant an upgrade.

      @@funkam0nkey I didn't bother with Sony since the K800i days, then came back with Xperia 1. They've been pretty solid for updates in my personal experience and I am still using the original Xperia 1 which has held up, but I can't vouch for this one as I don't know what they plan with regards to support. If it sells well then I would expect them to stick behind it.

    Hello Basil, found you again after a long time and wow it got me so nostalgic. It made me recall the good old days when mobile devices were far more exciting, diverse and innovative. Gone are the good old days of HTC ones, the Lg Gs, however, I am glad that Sony is not only still here but it also dares to be different for some legit reasons. Might I suggest that you bring back those audio comparisons etc. You used to do back then. They offered a kind of structure and reference that allowed the viewer to get a better idea of what to look for and where to look for. Please do keep it up 👍🏽

      @@tech_edit Thanks for making my day. Also thanks for taking my humble suggestions onboard, that means a lot. Well what can I say your voice makes the mobile reviews "sound" more complete and legit. So far as the comparison goes, I think it makes sense to pit the best sounding leading devices, however, it would be much more fun if you could add to the mix devices from old generations like Nexus, you know a kind of device you think has proven to be champ over the years. In fact it'd be very interesting if you can feature and compare champs in various areas like cameras screen etc with the newer devices in supplementary videos to the main review and comparison videos. It would be great if you can manage it. Keep up the good work and please try not to vanish again. Peace✌️

    The biggest letdown for me on my 5 IV was the seemingly lack of care that went into the basic photo mode. Has the software gotten better for point and shoot? I know Pixel will always be the king of that in terms of software processing.

    • @KananNallainathan
      @KananNallainathan ปีที่แล้ว

      the Sony Xperia 1 mk V BASIC photo mode is just excellent... its still got loads of technical features and many many settings compared tp the likes from Apple and Samsung also those handsets and others use computational A.I.Systems to improve photos ie messing with colour saturation, vibrancy, exposure etc. (though many smartphones use a Sony CMOS sensor (its around 50% of ALL smarthphones that use Sony Sensors inc. Apple, Oppo, and many other well known smartphone brands...)
      i wouldnt change the Xperia 1 mk V for anything... i got it in August back in 2023 on preorder... i also had the Xperia 1 mk iii which while excellent isnt comparable to the 1 mk V... also for almost 3.5 years my daily driver was a Sony Xperia 5 mk ii... i loved the phone howver after almost 4 years of constant charging cycles the battery only lasts 12 hours... its fine though as i use it as a backup phone as i have 2 lines... one for work and one for personal... im with EE in UK the last almost 11 years...
      my 1st Sony phone was in 2000.... the Sony CMD Z5... i used that solid for 3 years then i had the T68i Sony Ericsson... the W810i... the K800i... then the Sony Ericsson M12... later i got the Xperia S which was stellar and no longer carried the Ericsson branding... think this was 2010 or 2011... then later i got the Sony Xperia Z1... then the Z5... then the XZ1... then the Xperia 1 which was a massive gamechanger... then i got the Xperia 5 mk ii and the 1 mk iii... i returned the 1 mk iii to EE so i could get the 1 mk V on preorder... so yeah... i know plenty about Sony phones as i had them since 2000...

    Good video. But, I don't think you have to worry about a larger sensor making autofocus faster --- expect perhaps in very low-light scenarios. Most of the time, the larger the sensor, the slower the read out speed. There's a pretty good chance that Sony opted for a smaller, stacked sensor in order to make autofocus snappier than it would have been with the larger sensor some others are using.

    • @shohabmsk

      I actually ordered this phone after using iPhone for years (iphone 4, 5, 6, 7, 11 pro max, 13 pro). Not because I _need_ a new phone, but because I no longer want to support Apple as a company so I'm moving away from all Apple stuff.
      Funny thing is, I'd be happy to keep some Apple stuff and I might change back to Apple after this. However, since it's all vendor-locked together, I'm kinda "forced" to replace my other stuff (most notably AirPods and Apple Watch, and I already got rid of my macbook). Once I will have replaced all my Apple stuff, it will be a tough sell for Apple to get me back in their vendor lock-in party again.

    • @NeonPixels81
      @NeonPixels81 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gamebuster800 I actually love Apple stuff, for the most part, but what you mention - the ecosystem lock in - is what’s making me want to switch away. I just recently purchased the Sony Xperia Pro-I with the 1 inch sensor found in the Sony Cyber-shot RX1007. I was on sale for $926.06 and it usually retails for $1800.00. I purchased it specifically for it’s photo capabilities. The smartphone was marketed to individuals who wanted a smartphone with enhanced photographic capabilities. How does the new Sony Xperia 1 V compare to the Sony Xperia Pro-I? Supposedly the new phone has a newer camera sensor specifically geared for low-light photography. When I travel to Europe, I take a lot of photos in the nighttime or dusk time period. Any smartphone can take good photos when it’s daytime and the sun is shining but nighttime is a whole different scenario which can be challenging for smartphones and cameras.

    I tried the SonyXperia1 IV. The issue for me, here in the States, was the phone was horrible. It is also expensive. I could buy a Google Pixel 7 for $400, and have $1100 left over to buy a Sony Camera. I like having it all in one thing that slips in my pocket, but if a phone can't be a phone, it doesn't matter how good the camera is. I can always buy that separately.

Camera filming is interesting because I can take a video with a pixel or an iPhone and be impressed, however there is something unrealistic about the video. Considering the new Exmor T sensor, I don't think a bigger sensor is necessary since this new sensor tech seems to capture just as more light as traditional 1 inch sensor. But I don't know much about this sensor yet so capabilities are unknown. Maybe 1/1.12 or1/1.13 is end game enough for Sony. I do think that they'll eventually improve the PDAF on the newer sensor since it might need adjustments. Otherwise, I'm just waiting for Exmor T on the ultrawide and telephoto.
    Still, the Xperia 1V is pretty much Sony's best flagship that they've ever made since the Xperia Z3. I hope they keep this trend going. I do agree that 256GB might be a tad on the lower side since the phone's price in my country is substantially higher than many flagships but it's lower config. The new chip is probably why. Can't wait for your final reviews. Feels like forever since I watched Btekt, I mean TechEdit 😁.

    The truth is that I bought from the xperia Z to the 1 of the first generation. Then I let myself be fooled by Google and its pixel 5. But now I'm curious about this one again. What really holds me back is the level of system updates it has. At least google has a good interim update every three months, that makes many things fix and introduces new and innovative ones, things that, like Apple or Sony, don't happen. As they sell you the phone, that's how they stay.Only security updates and android version upgrades, which are also too late. 6 months from when Google launches the new version until Sony incorporates it.That's what throws me off thinking about buying it.
