To the people in the comments saying Shadow is turning into a vampire or a bat: You are mistaken. Those wings look more like something you'd see on one of Black Doom's forces. In the Shadow the Hedgehog game Black Doom used his DNA to help create Shadow and I theorize it's because of that Shadow gets this transformation.
You are right, the official Sonic X Shadow Generations Website says "Harness Shadow's new Doom Powers to battle hordes of enemies and tackle platforming challenges like never before. Surf on water, fly over obstacles, and stop time with the return of Chaos Control!".
It makes sense since in Shadow the Hedgehog (the game) there are bat like Black Arms.

the "3 hedgehogs" part tricked me twice, at first i was excited because silver then that was put down immediately, then it showed metal sonic and i thought that metal was being referred to as a hedgehog and maybe what happened with him and shadow after heroes was finally going to get answered, thought it was weird that there would be no marketing for that and oh no, it's just the pudgy sonic lol

SONIC TEAM IS FINALLY EMBRACING THEIR PAST!! Just the fact that Black Doom, Kingdom Valley, and Chaos Spear are all being brought back, elements from 2 of Sonic Team’s most infamous and problem-filled games, is amazing! For the longest time, the sonic franchise was afraid of its edgy, borderline-cheesy past and rarely, if ever, brought its mistakes to the spotlight. But with Frontiers and now this, it really seems like Sonic Team not only wants to embrace its history, but make it better! Just hoping Shadow’s story/gameplay in this is worth the wait…
Edit: Just to clarify, yeah I’m aware Sonic has embraced older stages and elements in the past (aka Green hill oversaturation). But I’m mostly talking about how for a while, especially in the 2010s, Sonic Team was very jokey and meta about how “bad” Sonic 06 and Shadow 05 was, rarely mentioning or talking about what was in these games besides anniversary specials. But Frontiers and now this seem to respect the elements and ambition from those games a lot more

It'll suck, anyway. I get that this is still sonic generations with shadow added, but they really should make a different game for shadow, instead of shoehorning him into generations. They're probably relying on generations' old original levels for this thing to work while any new stuff added by current people working on this shadow dlc would just be cheap as damn.

The year of Shadow is definitely here
This looks much bigger than initially perceived. Both Generations itself getting more content and Shadow’s campaign being fleshed out with a lot of what I’d call *love* for the character. Frontiers brought back the cool, unfazed style of Sonic that had been missing for so long and this game is riding straight off of that into something that looks fantastic. October can’t come soon enough.

Honestly, the shadow portion of the game still looks fan-made. It looks like something straight out of Sonic Omens.
I think the quality difference between the Shadow gameplay and the Sonic/Classic Sonic gameplay is pretty obvious judging it by everything they have shown us thus far.
Hopefully the Shadow stages in the final product will feel more like Generations and less like Forces, because right now...Shadows gameplay looks very much like Forces to me.

The wings are from his Black Arms DNA. If you look up the Black Arms there are ones that look like bats that can fly. I assume that part of his DNA is where he got the wings from.

Man, yeah they mean Classic Sonic, but wouldn’t it be SO COOL if they had a mini Silver campaign?! Or even the other Hedgehogs?!
To be fair, nobody besides these three would have enough levels to fit the ‘revisiting’ theme. Still, it’d be really cool if they introduced puzzles (aka what Silver was in 06) among the combat-oriented style I’m assuming Shadow now encapsulates!

@@sonicgalaxy27Dimps didn't make remasters they made Sonic games for the DS and other handheld consoles. Y'know the Sonic Rush games and the Sonic Advance games and handheld versions of existing Sonic games.
