- Sonic X Shadow Generations is an upcoming remake of Sonic Generations - which, in and of itself, took classic stages from older Sonic games, moving many into a 3D space. With Sonic X Shadow Generations, Shadow will also now be playable, with some of his classic stages also entering the fray. Sonic X Shadow Generations is set to release October 25, 2024.

That was always my problem with shadow he’s fun but it’s too similar to sonic. Him having his own abilities is the best option to go with.

@@mejorKrauser it has parts of westopolis in the radical highway remix. It's like a weird fusion of the two songs. It's good regardless. Some people don't like the EDM/dubstep in their sonic games, I for one don't mind it now that they got a great sound board and synth to play with

These graphics look better than Sonic Generations the base game. The graphics in the base game looks the exact same as it was on ps3/xbox 360.

it might just be hedgehog engine 2 for the shadow story stuff but gens is literally just ported over.
according to other journalists that have played, the fidelity on base gens is also much higher. It's just that the two have very different visual styles.
Hedgehog engine 1's lighting is extremely precalculated (for example global illumination is embedded to the textures) so I think they had to move to a new engine If they wanted to upgrade graphics other than resolution so they decided not to(maybe not to make the same mistake as sonic colors ultimate?)
Sonic Team finally realized Generations is their most well rounded game. Adding Shadow is the chef’s kiss.

Shadow’s stage looks more platforming than boost focused in a boost game which is really good as it emphasizes a similar style of turning from adventure. Also his movement is generally really slidey which is cool.
That’s why I want sonic adventure 3. The adventure format had the perfect format of what a Sonic game should be. They need to give us that format with Sonic adventure 3 and make the playable characters gameplay more faster paced so it matches with sonic but with their own abilities and movement, that way the gameplay will feel consistent. Thats what was so controversial about the adventure games.
I’m still gonna boost and that won’t stop me.
I just hope this isn’t press forward the video game

I mean are we gonna complain? Sonic Frontiers which was great, sure but c'mon it has its flaws, Sonic Forces being.. the way it is and lets not get started on Sonic Colours: Ultimate. Something like this coming from Sega is rare nowadays and besides it's a Shadow the Hedgehog game that isn't terrible for once.

It looks like any of the old and terrible 3D sonic games with some frontiers inspired combat added for bosses. This is nothing new. A step back in my opinion. Don't care about graphics but they went back into a linear formula with the same old gameplay. Meh.

Yeah modern sonic's level music will change depending on how fast sonic runs. It starts off beat for beat like the originals, once hes at maximum running speed it adds a couple more instruments and speeds up in tempo, and when you boost it speeds up again along with the boost filter for the music

I actually met Sean Schemmel at Collect A Con Dallas earlier this year and I asked him if he knew about Black Doom coming back. He said not only was he aware of it, he even auditioned for it. But even then he was sure they went with someone else. All we can do is welcome the new guy and wish him the best of luck!

Until I figured out this was a _Jujutsu Kaisen_ reference, I was so convinced that the 'purple' line was referring to a Shadow/Rouge improv joke from Lythero's Sonic 06 streams.
It’s a neat touch that everything goes silent during Chaos Control.. it always gave that type of feeling but it wasn’t silent, there was still a subtle music. Now all you hear is shadows grunts and sounds and nothing else. Really neat

I like that we're seeing Shadow progress as a character. He seems so much more powerful now than he was in Sonic Adventure 2. I like that they're continuing the trend of showing the growth of the characters in the game (Generations showed that Sonic was able to beat Chaos without Super Sonic, showing how much stronger he'd grown, and it seems like the biolizard does the same for Shadow).
Btw, if anyone asks what is up with the first 17 seconds, it's a QTE. The punching part is where you mash a button, then the kick (where the sound went silent) was the timed button press, from what I've seen on recordings.

I know a lot of people are talking about the Bio Lizard new abilities, but-
Can I just say.
I love how utterly disgusting it is. I'm not saying this in a bad way, but a good way. The Bio Lizard looks properly disgusting and horrific, with thick calluses across it's body, brusing yellow skin where the mechanical parts attach, the pulsing gills that actually made me whence when I saw them, the addition of teeth and those oddly disgusting purple arms with wires and flesh.
This thing looks like a biohazard, it looks like a failure of a prototype and it's rightfully disgusting to look at. This isn't at Resident Evil remakes of disgusting monsters, but it's close and I appreciate the team for fully realizing the old design from Adventure 2.
Now THIS is how you Shadow!
The difference in abilities compared to Sonic! The warping, the lightning type dashing. The martial arts!

This is by far Kirks best performance as Shadow, but theres only so much good direction can do with an incorrect type casting. Kirk's voice never has fit Shadow in my opinion. Nothing against him as an actor, but to even remotely sound like Shadow, I can tell he is straining his voice a ton.
Kirk's been Shadow for years already. Give it a rest.

I hope the movement is more like frontiers/adventure instead of vanilla generations. The stiffness and lack of maneuverability is what forces the player into relying too much on going only forward.
This was my biggest dream, seeing gameplay of someone playing as a character other than sonic is absolutely legendary footage.

imo it's Frontiers last island and Final Horizon level design, where they had some original levels that were pretty good. Just kinda them walking once again a fine line between Adventure and full on boost
The part where Shadow used Chaos Control and beat back the big orb reminded me of the final boss from Sonic and the Secret Rings! I’m glad they took that element from that game! Seems like Sonic Team is really pulling out all the stops for this game!

That music is from Shadows game. It plays in the arc level.
I noticed that they added new textures to shadows model, instead of his body being overall smooth like in past games they added a furry/quill texture to add depth. You can see it clearly here 6:44 they even added cool textures to his gloves and inhibitor rings :D
Is shadow gonna be playable in modern Sonic's levels or just his separate story mode?
Really hard to tell. It seems that Shadow’s gameplay runs on the upgraded engine while the original levels are still on the old version, which means that they’d have to go the extra mile to get his style of gameplay working on the old version.
What I’m saying is that based on the gameplay of shadow and the remastered original, they seem to be two different games bundled into one rather than one big game.
My guess is no but who can say until it’s answered officially

The Biolizard fight sure added a new twist with those arms popping up. In a way, it kind of helps the fight not be completely identical to the one from Sonic Adventure 2.

I believe the Shadow part may be using the new engine, whereas the actual remaster of Sonic Generations is using the Generations engine, could be wrong though.

It's a situation like Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. It's basically 2 games in one: A Remaster of Sonic Generations and a New game featuring shadow.
The chao being present more than ever
Some chao rescue missions for the main game. Both classic and modern sonic have the drop dash apparently. Then there's the legacy sonic adventure skin for modern sonic.
