Hey! Do you have an idea what kind of settings they used for the GoPro? Im trying to film my self on stage and it never really looks as good as the footage here. Is this shot with the GoPro colours on or did someone worked on the colours?
To an untrained eye and ear, he looks like he is just hitting the drums and messing around, but there is so much going on here it is crazy! TP is one of my absolute favorites
Same. He was an animal with tmv when I saw them live. I wonder what Cedric and Omar thought about his fit in the band after an album and a full tour. He's excellent, just not sure his style was ever really supplemental to tmv 's overall style. Either way, bedlam was sick -thanks to thomas
What I love about Thomas is that he just DRUMS. Every time you see him on the kit he just goes all out and you can just tell he enjoys what he's doing.
Согласен! Он мой любимый ударник из всех, что я видел. The Mars Volta с его участием - для меня самая лучшая смесь для такого уровня. В моих мечтах я - этот парень :D
just when you think you have a handle on things....Pridgen! Don't be discouraged though, be inspired though these vids, theres a lot that can be learned just by watching.
Excellent I just love him, I come back to this video time and again for inspiration and just to enjoy watching someone who is so masterful play. Every time i do, i take something away to play with on my kit. He is my number 1.
It's good being able to watch an amazing drummer getting better with time. I've liked Pridgen for a while, but he's getting more expressive and creative, and more deliberately incorporating rudiments/ostinatos and themes. For a while, he mostly just blazed around the drums (and did it well), but now he looks like he's spent time teaching others. Great solo!
The thing with Thomas Prigden is that he actually sounds like a drummer and not some really tedious drum machine....amazing feel, he hits hard and fast and everything he does is exciting. Fantastic bass drum foot and killer hands
Thank the Universe for giving us Thomas Pridgen. And wow! Thanks for reminding me that i can play his beats in slow-motion so i can see what's happening.
I'm pretty loyal to Gretsch but I just used a DW custom be bop sized kit on a session 2 days ago and it sounded incredible. Drum Workshop has been putting out some really great drums lately!
Thomas Pridgen is a fucking god damn awesome drummer... if you have qualms and shit go check out his 1 hour Drumeo lesson "Applying Rudiments to the Drum Kit" and then tell me that wasn't the baddest shit you done ever seen.
Enjoyed the Video, It would have been awesome if you would have slowed down the bass drum during his crazy drum roll to see that foot action going crazy, he is a fast single pedal player. Is it possible for you guys to upload it in a different video? Either way, thanks for the Vid!
Clicked the link thinking it was Tony Royster Jr. for some reason, realized it wasn't, prepared to be disappointed, then saw it was Thomas Pridgen. Its like I can't lose!
Can’t believe I never commented on this but better late than never, I actually bought this exact kit, the one that Thomas plays here, with his used heads and all from the Drum Shop in Maine back in 2016 and it’s the only drum kit I’ve owned since, my god what a kit and what a player! Might be high time to put some mics on it and get some good quality videos of this thing now that I’m much older 😂
@dw drums is that one of his drumkits and all his cymbals? Or is he just using these drums and cymbals that yall provide for him to record this video? Great tone, projection, quality of the drumkit/audio/visual! Great vid
I hear some overtone. But i uae a Pork Pie Brass Patina and i can make it sound fat with no overtone, and auper pingy with overtone. They are very versatile.
I'm detecting that these drums have maybe shorter sustain and darker tone than maple mahoganys because of the cherry, but I cannot hear the musicality, are these less musical than Maple Mahoganys?? How would you describe the sound. They sound incredibly awsame by the way!!!
Seriously good and currently in my top 5 favourite drummers and no Chris Adler is not in that list. Technique seems to be missing in a lot of metal drummers at the current time with Travis Orbin and Ray Luzier being the exception and I also like Mario Duplantier but for most of them it seems to be all about double bass drums, which has its own technique but quickly gets boring, and Thomas Pridgen reminds us that drumming starts with rudiments and the technique builds from here. Also listen to the variety. It is a breath of fresh air.
I love his ability to freestyle on the spot nothing set up just inpro the way he can hit that lattern bass hi hat wile doing totally different style with his hands amazing watch him play all night
His hihat sound amaazing, so light and crisp. Anyone know why it sounds so great? The hihat itself or his skill and technique on it? I would like to get a hihat that sounds like that one
Was this kit actually in the showroom a few months ago? If so, I played this exact kit when I had a factory tour, although admittedly not as well as Thomas did! Haha
Only people who lack a technical background with drums and rudiments say he suck.saying things like he just plays real fast and hit things at random lol. That's because u only know singles doubles and paradidles lol. Such fools . If he's so trash and overrated, why is he sponsored and paid to play with big bands and artist ?
djoc417 There's a shit ton of mediocre musicians who get paid 10x more than others with legitimate talent so that's not really a valid point to defend Pridgen. However, those who say this stuff simply just don't get why he plays the way he plays, why he approaches things the way he does. At times he just likes to have his fun but when he does believe it or not he's always LISTENING. His chops speak a lot and he plays raw. He's a very expressive player and it just passes right through so many listeners because they don't understand and you know what that's ok they don't have to because his playing is not in their taste
djoc417 Trolls will be trolls. Let them go worship Beiber and shit like that and let us have Pridgen. They don't deserve to even half understand Pridgen. I'm a drummer and I barely understand him, which is why he's thrilling to watch... I want to see what he does next. Not just that but his taste in setup and cymbal choice, especially the effect splashes and chinas have become so popular, and he hasn't once asked for any recognition for that.
Ever since I saw his 1 hour lesson on Drumeo, He has been my favorite drummer
yeah man, ever since i saw him play live with the mars volta a couple times he's always been on my radar. great drummer.
Killer drum action and great demonstration of incorporating slow motion in your footage.
He's been in my top favorite list since the bedlam in goliath. I was addicted to that album for 3 years. I still get chills hearing it.
Same. He was an animal with tmv when I saw them live. I wonder what Cedric and Omar thought about his fit in the band after an album and a full tour. He's excellent, just not sure his style was ever really supplemental to tmv 's overall style. Either way, bedlam was sick -thanks to thomas

Согласен! Он мой любимый ударник из всех, что я видел. The Mars Volta с его участием - для меня самая лучшая смесь для такого уровня. В моих мечтах я - этот парень :D
Поэтому я тоже - просто барабаю :D
just when you think you have a handle on things....Pridgen! Don't be discouraged though, be inspired though these vids, theres a lot that can be learned just by watching.
I could watch this guy play for days.
200 miles an hour. And soloing the whole concert. Great drummer. The rest of the band must love him
😂😂😂
This guy survived the Volta Ouija album! you've got's to have chops to survive a supernatural beat down.
He's one of the best drummers out here rn
Excellent I just love him, I come back to this video time and again for inspiration and just to enjoy watching someone who is so masterful play. Every time i do, i take something away to play with on my kit. He is my number 1.
yea he's awesome! my number one is benny greb, every video I watch of him teaches me some new drumming ideas/skills
Great solo!
idc about cost, i will own a dw one day. All american, and the best sounding drums to me period. Love Thomas great playing and great sounding drums!
Hock Ooi Last I checked Guru is a Great Britain company. So? What are you trying to say, they make great drums but still.
The thing with Thomas Prigden is that he actually sounds like a drummer and not some really tedious drum machine....amazing feel, he hits hard and fast and everything he does is exciting. Fantastic bass drum foot and killer hands
Greatest paradiddles the world has ever seen
two of my favorite things! DWs and GoPros.
Glad you are including us in your favorites!
SICKEST SHUFFLE! Imagine if he was around in the shuffle era. That would have been the sickest banging shuffle drummer of ALL TIME! 5:03
ZZ Top's La Grange came out in '73, and it's pretty much the same thing (shuffled ghost notes+shuffled bass drum+1/8 on ride).
Nah like way older than that cuz.Like 50's and 60's. ZZ top did create a song based off of a shuffle though
anyone else in love with that snare?
Holy shit he is actually wearing a shirt!
one of the best sounding kit's on the internet of course it's in hands
That sound of a dw drumkit .... im in heaven
I love how much challenges himself when he plays! He isnt afraid to try things or experiment!
Thomas Pridgen must be a drum salesman with the way he slapped those drums.
Maniac on the drums, simply amazing !!!!!.
Look at that: one of my favourite drummers playing my favourite brand of drums
Thank you for reminding me what a good drummer sounds like.
That little shuffle at 4:49 was just beautiful
I love how when he messes up he's just like fuck and keeps plowing the kit. Seems amazingly natural at the kit
His speed around the kit is great! In that drumeo video he shows some of that crazy speed!
Man that kit sounds incredible, magnificent playing of course, the guys a beast, but that kit sound is perfect
The sound of true cymbals !
What a beast! As always the drums sing!
Boring: A word that can never ever be accurately used about this genius. What a joy to behold!!!!!
Dude is an animal! So cool how tight the sound is, but when its slowed down he's visually loose as hell.
he's not from this planet... unbelivable speed and precision.
He's from planet Speed and Precision we say!
Dat Inverted Paradiddle.
i love his speed ...he makes playing look like so much fun......way to go my man!
the bass drum is tuned very nicely.
I'm getting little bit annoyed seeing (and HEARING!!!) how good this dude is...
Thomas, U monsta!!!
Speechless.
One of my favourite drummers, such a amazing drummer
Thank the Universe for giving us Thomas Pridgen. And wow! Thanks for reminding me that i can play his beats in slow-motion so i can see what's happening.
I love his snare drum head so much!!!
4:27 "Here Omar, I can play Deantoni shit too"
the sound of that snare is really interesting
Absolutely insane, an amazing drummer
Those toms are basically flat idk how people hit them and not the rim but this dudes a beast
i LOVE Dw, Thomas and go pros this is perfect !!!!
6 Perspectives of Awesome. When I hear Pridgen, I hear PROdgen.
I'm pretty loyal to Gretsch but I just used a DW custom be bop sized kit on a session 2 days ago and it sounded incredible. Drum Workshop has been putting out some really great drums lately!
слушать его сплошное наслаждение!
¡¡¡¡¡Simplemente espectacular!!!!
Dominio absoluto de un instrumento que requiere dividirse sin perder tu ritmo en el género musical que sea!!!!!
I hope that drum set was 18...
well it's still rape
@@Hyperiontje I didn't notice that set say no lol
my teacher my best friend.....the king of cali......and the bay..........love u man
that slow motion effect! DAYUM!
It looks like he doesn't even use the fulcrum when playing. The fact that he can go that fast is amazing
Cool! Keep up the great work Pridgen and keep making great drums DW!
Keep Drumming
Jonathan Riddick
Great kit! Love the dark coloured wood!
These 12 Dislikes must be people who don't like yellow drum kits... He rocks.
Thomas Pridgen is a fucking god damn awesome drummer... if you have qualms and shit go check out his 1 hour Drumeo lesson "Applying Rudiments to the Drum Kit" and then tell me that wasn't the baddest shit you done ever seen.
The jamaican beat he put in, killed me. Love his playing
I love Jon Theodore, but Thomas Pridgen is my favorite drummer from The Mars Volta tbh.
Dear Thomas Pridgen, you are f'n awesome...
Great drummer. And this kit has an awesome colour
Enjoyed the Video, It would have been awesome if you would have slowed down the bass drum during his crazy drum roll to see that foot action going crazy, he is a fast single pedal player. Is it possible for you guys to upload it in a different video?
Either way, thanks for the Vid!

DW, need to know...was the audio 100% captured with an H4n or were their other mics involved in this particular recording?
accidentally had this on 1.25 speed and I was like "holy freakin crap that's fast"
accidentally had this on 0.75 speed and I was like "holy freakin crap that's fast"
This go pro perspective is so inspiring!!!
cherry/mahogany shell is such a clever choice
I bought a set a month ago, I have to say that they are fantastic drums.
My favorite drummer wearing a t-shirt with one of my favorite hip hop albums on it. YES!
You got too love Thomas and De La!!
Thank you,sir!From Russia with respect
Outstanding!
@dw drums is that one of his drumkits and all his cymbals? Or is he just using these drums and cymbals that yall provide for him to record this video?
Great tone, projection, quality of the drumkit/audio/visual! Great vid
Im gonna get me one of them go pros. The slow mo parts are incredible.
how does he make a brass snare sound that good with so little overtones without any dampening?
I hear some overtone. But i uae a Pork Pie Brass Patina and i can make it sound fat with no overtone, and auper pingy with overtone. They are very versatile.
Tachot123 not using gay ass double kick peddles and playing like a pussy. This dude is raw af
Ok guys from DW. the sound of this kit is just incredible. What am I supposed to do to become a DW endorser?
It makes it even MORE awesome that he's wearing a De La Soul shirt...
Also, hes creative as can be with cymbals. Look at the right triple stack... and his giant Z hats.
I'm detecting that these drums have maybe shorter sustain and darker tone than maple mahoganys because of the cherry, but I cannot hear the musicality, are these less musical than Maple Mahoganys?? How would you describe the sound. They sound incredibly awsame by the way!!!
massive!!! killa skills!!!
😃
Thomas ALWAYS has the FRESHEST kicks on! haha xD
is this sped up to show of go pro or is he just crazy fast?!
He is crazy fast when he wants to be. :-)
***** He's lefty, but plays righty. Terrifying combination of coordination.
+Jeanine Smirl he just isn't human. Listen to the songs he played with The Mars Volta. Absolutely insane
***** Hahaha he's his own species
+Jeanine Smirl he is an absolute animal.

I think this is the first time that i see him with a T-shrit XD... What a beast D: !!
Does anyone know what he plays with his hands over the ostinato at 1:37? crazy shit, i love this guy.
Dudes a Cyborg! 🤟🏼
I love that foot ostinato!
Wow, this dude can jam!
this dude's a monster!!
@Skyler Call there actually 17" crashes and occasionally 18". Top hat is an old Z, bottom is usually A custom or avedis.
His hihat sound amaazing, so light and crisp. Anyone know why it sounds so great? The hihat itself or his skill and technique on it? I would like to get a hihat that sounds like that one
This is wicked man. just wicked
Awesome! Good go pro effects
Was this kit actually in the showroom a few months ago? If so, I played this exact kit when I had a factory tour, although admittedly not as well as Thomas did! Haha
the ghost notes on the snare are ridiculous, man i miss his era with The Mars Volta..
great drumming!

Because he sells??? And selling is the most important???
