The Xi'an City Wall is over 14 km and it is exhausting to walk through it, I also got lost on the wall in 2018 and was particularly looking forward to finding the exit so I could escape the place just like you.😆
@@tomarnold7284 Fortunately I was there in winter. I was just a little hungry from the walk and immediately found a pita bread soaked in lamb soup for a full meal when I got off the walls.
So the Xian Wall was specifically designed so that even in the enemies could make it up the walls, they'll be trapped up there and could never make it into the city. Interesting!
The enemy can't get on the city wall. Did you see Jason entering the city wall box like the stairs on the city wall? After the enemy broke through the city gate, they would crowd into this square, and then be eliminated by the soldiers on the city wall.

Really enjoy this video and your usual tongue-in-cheek humorous presentation. It brought back great memory of my visit to The Wall some years ago. I rented a bicycle and did not realise the tyres were almost flat until it was too far to turn back to ask to change another bike. It was like forever to finish the ride on a bicycle with flat tyres... But, truly, it was a great experience riding on the fabulous wall! Thanks for the memory. (Msg from Malaysia)
We were there 14 years ago. What a big difference and transformation. So clean and beautiful a city. Back then we could not even see the blue sky. The wall was clean, but small debris everywhere. Now it is so clean and restored.
6:52. One of the popular inaccuracies about Xi’an City Wall is that it was “built” during Hongwu’s reign during the Ming Dynasty, when in fact it was expanded to the east and north during the 1370s to create the present 13.8 kilometre perimeter. The section you walked from the South Gate to the West Gate is the original location of the southern and western sides of the imperial city wall built during the Sui-Tang in 582. Interestingly, you walked right overtop the remaining remnants of that Sui-Tang original imperial city wall at Zhuque gate, where there is a lovely air-conditioned museum built inside the wall and most likely an exit! Cheers!
You could have make your own exit by jumping down the 12 meters high wall 🤣. But then again.....BSB news will say "An English man jumps the Xian Wall to his death because of mental torture by the CCP"🤣🤣🤣
Curiosity: This wall is a "new wall" built during 12th and rebuilt/reformed many times into the Qing (last dynasty). During its heydays as Chang'an (capital of Tang, 7th to early 10th centuries), Xi'an had a even bigger wall, more than six times the inner size of the wall of the video. This wall used to encircle a city of more than 1M citizens, with many more minor walls dividing insides "neighborhoods". This was the great city of the ancient Silk Road and the architecture of the city inspired Korea and Japan.

It’s hilarious when the lady starred at the camera with that confused look on her face in metro.
As I watched you search for the exit in that Xi'an wall, I laughed thinking that at the end of the road there would be a sign with the words "welcome to uzbekistan, 1000 kilometers to go to reach the end of the silk road".
This was the funniest video by far! I can totally relate.
Woahh!
That was a long long walk!
No mode of transportation passing by. What a relief that you're able to come out of it before you passed out due to exhaustion and dehydration. What an experience.😍😁😂
The video is so hilarious. I like your style. I was there 5 or 6 years ago, riding a bike on the four sides of wall for more than one hour late in the evening. All the red lanterns were lit up. So beautiful. Don't try to walk all the four sides on foot. The wall is too massive. Your're in Xian? Be sure to visit the amazing Mt. Hua (Huashan) if you have time.
The scale of China, that's many people do not understand.
I saw stairs down in the shop where you bought the evian water😂
no way? I didn't see any
@@JasonLivinginChina Yup,there is a way out in the water shop
I used to ride on the wall, it was such a good memory. Thank you Jason
Halo Jason tetap semangat, jangan lupa jaga kesehatan 👍
jason, it was only 1/4 of the wall. i rode a bike to tour the shole wall around sunset last june. it was quite enjoyable.
I was on that wall too in Jul/2018. i did not take a bike either due to the rain, not heavy rain, and i also walked very long time...hahaha.don't forget to walk around '大唐不夜城'at night time
