When I was about 15/16 I used this plant to soothe my eczema in the summer and One day my grandfather came to my room to tell me something. He noticed the smell but he thought it was me 💀💀. He politely started talking to me about the importance of finding a deodorant that was right for me 😹😹. My grandfather has since passed on, but this plant always reminds me of that hilarious moment with him. ❤️

Oh man it does smell like BO!! My friends mum used to put the gel in my hair (I had willddd curly hair) and I hated the smell but didn’t want to be rude and tell her. And I still can’t eat any aloe products because it would just bring me back to that smell!

My mom tries to cure literally everything with aloe vera. If we get a cut, burn, skin infection, pimples, rash--- anything skin related she'll throw aloe on it and tell us we're gonna be fine. So far she's been right.

@@rionayo9933 Lots of ways, you can literally just cut a piece, drain it, slice it open lengthwise and put it on ya. (which is how we most often used it). You can also make a gel cream out of it by basically doing what emmy did but putting the cubes and slime in a blender.
I remember once I had really bad sunburns and my mom put the aloe gel on my face, and i asked her if it was okay to eat, because it’s straight from the succulent. She hesitated for a bit but told me yes, so I took a big bit and put it into my mouth... and proceeded to absolutely d i e because it was so bitter-

It is bitter. In Jamaica we put it on young children's thumbs when trying to dissuade thumbsucking.
That’s adorable, thank you for making me smile! 😊 That reminds me, when I was little, I loved the smell of vanilla extract and I was convinced it tasted like it smelled. Lol, you can see where this is going. My mom would catch me trying to taste it straight from the bottle and stop me, telling me it tasted bad. I couldn’t understand why she was being so mean about hoarding that delicious vanilla for herself (i was VERY little!). One day, I finally touched my finger to the lid of the bottle before she saw and put my extract-covered finger in my mouth. The BETRAYAL I felt at that vanilla for smelling so good and tasting so awful 😂
@@climatesolutions649 pends on the plant vararity and ya gotta soak that aloe latex out. Its the latex that can cause issues in high amounts, thus aloe is better eaten not too, too often.
One time I got sunburnt on my face, and my grandmother had a bottle of aloe that she applied to soothe it. I accidentally tasted some of it and I thought I was weird for thinking it tasted great. Imagine my surprise when years later, I discovered that people indeed eat aloe! Someday I'll grow a big aloe plant and say I use it for skincare, but I'll actually just eat it. No one will ever know.

Just be careful buying a bottle of aloe thinking you can straight up drink it. Some products made for skin care might not be 100% aloe and nothing else, there may be additional ingredients not safe for consumption.

This may be the first time I’ve done something that you haven’t Emmy. My family used to keep small aloe plants around and we would squeeze the gel out of the leaves to treat our sunburns when we were kids.

If you can, try to do at least one small kindness for yourself each day, because you deserve it, even if it's just drinking some water or watching a calming video like one of Emmy's. If you're going to therapy or seeing a doctor, I hope you get all the help you need. You're going to be okay and come out the other side of this struggle--if not right now, then one day. I just want to mention, to anyone who may be reading my comments, that while I do appreciate the sentiment of those giving me advice on how to help it, this is definitely not new for me. I’ve had this diagnosis for 20 years and yes, I do know all kinds of coping mechanisms and tips. I’ve certainly heard it all and done my fair share of research over the years. If you name it, I’ve tried it. Anyone with crippling anxiety/panic attacks will do just about anything to make them go away, and I’m no exception. Thank you all, and love to you all, though. Your hearts are in a good place. 💜 I’ll be ok. 😊

Aloe vera is also really good at cleansing the skin to prevent acne. It takes a small adjustment period though, because in my personal experience, it dried my skin out, but after a while it worked very well.

As someone who lives in Arizona, we use Aloe a lot for sunburns. I usually just buy it in the bottles. However I've never eaten it. We have prickly pear here too. If you havent tried it you should. They make it into variety of things. :)

Here in PR, specially in the rural area, we usually have it in our gardens. We blend it with pure honey and lemon and use it as a cough aid and sore throat remedy!

That grape flavor is added in. It's the most traditional and common flavor of aloe vera juice drinks. I fell in love with them when I lived in Okinawa, and when they started to pop up in the US I was stoked. The pineapple flavor is really good too.
I'm kinda curious, is it artificial grape flavor or is it sweetened with sugar or something sweet that brings out the flavor of aloe vera but reminds us of grapes?

When I lived in Hawaii as a child we had an aloe Vera plant in our yard…. pretty much everybody did…and anytime we got sunburn or a cut or anything we just go break off a piece of the plant and squeeze it on and it would heal whatever it was within a day or two…. is wonderful and the plant will just grow back that section or you broke it off it was really cool!

Iv got a HUGE aloe plant in my front yard....we had it in our yard when we lived in Miami and we took it with us when we moved to Ocala, FL.....the plant itself is probably over 30 years old. I love it! I absolutely love the flavored aloe drinks with the pieces of aloe in it.

Where I'm from, south Brazil, we call it "babosa", referring to "baba" which translates to "saliva" - because of the gelly consistency. We use it for any kind of skin burn, and also for our hair (moisturizer) and as a suppository for those who suffer from hemorrhoids. Very versatile plant. I've never ate it, tho.

What my grandma used to do was she would squeeze the aloe vera out into a jar and add rubbing alcohol and use that to treat aches and pains. There's probably a few more things in there but that's what I remember

The armenian market next to my house sells aloe juice and its sooo good. I love the little bits of aloe pulp in it :)
My advice is to read the nutrition facts, that stuff is loaded with sugar.
I visit the Syracuse area of New York a lot and they have a style of pizza called Utica pie I think it’s something you should try to make :)
This just reminds me of this bottled water you can get here in the uk. You can get the normal spring water or the flavoured which is strawberry, but they both have chunks of Aloe in them. It tasted really nice with the strawberry flavour. Almost took ok the flavour in a way

We used these fresh plants to soothe our sunburns after swimming for hours.
That and cold, wet black tea bags work great.
Aloe works a built better than tea though.
You could use aloe based gel but fresh is best.
They look like ice cubes in the yogurt.
I use it on my face daily, keeps it hydrated and plumped. My coarse, thick, curly hair loves it! And it also cured a skin fungus I had. Great to eat if you have gastritis. Aloe is a wonderful plant.
You can also puree it and freeze it into ice cubes and use that on sunburns!

I love the aloe vera juice drinks they sell at the gas station. Its grape flavor with the chunks of aloe is so good. They have other flavors now too. So good
When I was growing up my mom had an aloe plant in the kitchen and we used it for small cuts and burns.
I used to keep a bottle of aloe gel in the fridge for sunburns. Feels great once you get past the 1st shock of cold on sunburned skin. After that its very soothing and cooling.

I love Aloe Vera. In my house is a must to have Aloe plants because is so healthy, it helps me a lot with my dermatitis and I love to eat it with yoghurt too!
I’m salivating. Aloe Vera, sugar cane and blackstrap molasses are my top 3 for sources of iron as I have favism. The gel helps my skin from burns for Lupus. My plant died during the freeze here in Texas unfortunately. It looked similar after growing it 6 years. Hopefully I can replace soon. I find it sooo tasty.
I love aloe! I have a plant thag i put right outside my apartment and it grows so fast! I remember harvesting it for the first time and it was so slimey and cool!❤❤❤
I’ve blended aloe and used it as a hair mask. It works WONDERS! I let it sit for about half an hour, then washed it out with normal shampoo and conditioner. It made my hair so soft!
We love aloe in our house! We usually cut the aloe into big chunks after removing the peel. Then boil the aloe for about 5-7 minutes in boiling water, remove and put into a jar. Add honey and refrigerate. Consume the next day. Usually this removes the slime and pungent taste and it will be just like the store bought aloe!

we used to have an aloe plant! we used the gel inside to help keep my dog comfortable as possible when she got very old and started having health issues. usually she hated when we checked on her mouth, but when it was to rub aloe on her sore gums, she was suddenly very cooperative, lol
i’ve always wanted to try this coconut aloe drink at my local grocery store. this might have convinced me to get it
Aloe drinks are really nice! Unusual at first texture wise but super tasty and refreshing in my experience. They're very sweetened. The aloe gives texture but not flavour.
I used aloe vera gel from a leaf of a plant I was growing on some deep cuts on my palms that I got when I fell onto sharp gravel. The cuts stopped hurting immediately and healed completely without any scarring.
I grew up with an aloe plant and every time we had a cut, my dad would always rub the aloe gel on it and I swear by it. It heals skin so well
My mother would always grow aloe in her garden in Southern California and when I would get a wound she would break a small piece off and apply it to my wound. It would heal up so quickly! Very good for healing wounds;)

My grandma had aloe plants at home, and according to knowledge she got rom her her mom, it's very good for hair! We used to cut leaves and use the gel as a hair mask, and the hair was very shiny and soft after using it.

My mother plants aloe veras at her yard and I remember as a kid I fell and scraped my knee, so she plucked out a small leaf and scrubbed the gel on my wound after running it under running water. It felt good and the wound healed up pretty fast with little scabbing.
I live in Jamaica where it’s multipurposed. You can use it in your hair for cleanse and strength. You can use it on your skin as it helps with sun burn. You can eat it raw as well use it in your smoothies.
I drink aloe juice all the time for acid reflux and it definitely tastes like grape juice. Love that stuff
I've been using this stuff. I peel it and use a potato masher to make it into gel as best I can, then mix it with honey.

You should get one of these plants! They grow themselves others from the same plant (don't know the technical term); a friend gave me one and not only it's huge now but many others have grown out of the main one. And they give amazing flowers!
You can find drinks with aloe vera chunks in it. The regular has this white grape juice in it, but there's other flavors as well. It's really good, even if it makes you want to chew before swallowing because of the chunks
I never tire of the fruity fruit song on Emmy's videos. We had aloe growing outside always. It's like a must have for any household. Nothing better for any sort of burn. And you don't have to mess with it at all. Just be sure it's not in a place that gets tons of water or too much shade and you'll have one plant then after a couple years a forest of it.
I grow Aloe plants and use the leaves for sunburns all the time.I also drink it in a drink made by OKF its amazing you drink it and it has little pieces in it.....

Aloe plants spread very quickly because one plant can turn into a bunch of others. I remember there would be aloe plants EVERYWHERE and me and my cousins would pick it, peel the skin off and eat it. It could be bitter sometimes but most of the time it was pretty good
I use this for my hair...blended with basil. Gives it a "green" scent.
Oh my, how I would love to try one of these out in raw, natural form! I love Aloe! We have Aloe Vera drinks here with little chunks of gel floating in the juice, and I personally adore them. That is the closest I've ever came to trying it out. And for summer I have an Aloe Vera gel bottle sitting in my fridge, I can attest it's very good for burnt skin, soothing and cooling. I would love to make myself a face mask with pure gel.

Aloe chunks remind me of more gelatinous nata de coco. I love jelly, crunchy, succulent stuff, and aloe is a big favorite of mine.
