@DrivingIntelligence so I just recently picked up the Atoto double din and used your helpful link to get the obd dongle with the y splitter and extension. Was just curious how that all goes together. It seems obvious but just wanted to double check

Hey, quick question on the sub panel. You said you went and bought one from a wrecking yard. Why does that need to be replaced? The one in the truck can't just be trimmed like you did? Or is the one you purchased from the wrecking yard different from the original one?
Actually, that’s a really good question that I didn’t think of until you just asked. No need to buy a new one if you have time to do the work on your truck. As I think back, I really bought it to make sure I didn’t screw up something that I couldn’t reverse or fix.
@@DrivingIntelligence Has the tire pressure monitoring addon been doing okay for you? Do you think it's worth the purchase? I know in the video it was crossed out with their OBD2 Dongle, but was just curious on your feedback.
@@Zalagar619 the kit I like is linked in the description of this video. This is not an ATOTO unit and actually OEM style. I've had great results using the one in this video: th-cam.com/video/JK5_ttQSM84/w-d-xo.htmlsi=eOF0DSBlr-UM08wm
Another great video. I just picked up a head unit and would like to use this kit, but I have the wood trim intrument panel and want to keep that. I hope I can make the other metra kit work, but I've seen a lot of people having trouble with that one
Are you referring to the back of the cavity? My ATOTO is much shorter than other head units, I made sure to get a shorter head unit to prevent hitting anything at the back of the opening. Only thing I had to cut is what is covered in this video.
Quick question about grinding the subframe to fit the unit: I don’t have the Atoto so I’m not sure how much to grind off of the top, and I have the manual temp control so I’m not sure if any adjustments need to be made. How did you determine how much to grind the frame to fit the unit? What did you use to cut it? Thanks and great video.
Very sorry for that... glad you asked because the link I had in this video was no longer available: th-cam.com/video/JK5_ttQSM84/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SrlfcMmsmmbnvh_O I have corrected both videos to include links for the TPMS.

@@DrivingIntelligence idk ive seen some cheap head units that were awesome like the tesla screen wanna bes are actually pretty nice I finished a install for friend of mine and its basically a computer just nicer lol so I think you made the right choice especially how fast tech because obsolete
That’s a good question, I got a used one because I didn’t want to take a chance destroying the original unit. This way I was able to mock up the cutting I had to do on the subframe on my workbench before tearing the dash apart.

Did you attach the plastic Metra side pieces to the trim piece you cut at the top? You didn't really show attachment points to the truck. Sorry, I didn't purchase the Metra kit DP5859, I purchased the Metra kit DP 5818 which has the side pieces and 2 trim pieces. I was just wondering the reason for the plastic side pieces. @@DrivingIntelligence I know it would suck, but it'd be nice to see how it looks on first start up, without the custom interface, how the back up camera works, maybe see how well the Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay work, maybe show how the navigation works(just don't accidentally bring it up at your house and show where you live). Why go and grab a spare piece of subdash rather than just pulling the one you got out of your vehicle and grinding it out on your bench?
It’s a good question, two reasons for me, in case I trash it I have a spare, and this prevents having the truck down for a longer period of time.
