    Excellent vid... After buying a 2023 Maverick (way too much electronics crap for me) I decided to keep and spiff up my 1997 F150 (I bought new)... and after watching this vid, I feel confident that I could make this upgrade...

    Got a question right now I’m putting in Dual XD28BT and I cannot figure this out on my 98 f150. Is there anyway figure out the standard ford harness diagram for the install?

    • @DrivingIntelligence

      I don't have a wiring diagram for your year. Did you buy a pre-wired connecter? Usually pretty seamless to install... color match the wires.

    Hey, quick question on the sub panel. You said you went and bought one from a wrecking yard. Why does that need to be replaced? The one in the truck can't just be trimmed like you did? Or is the one you purchased from the wrecking yard different from the original one?

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Actually, that’s a really good question that I didn’t think of until you just asked. No need to buy a new one if you have time to do the work on your truck. As I think back, I really bought it to make sure I didn’t screw up something that I couldn’t reverse or fix.

    Hey! Did you have to cut anything behind the radio to make it fit? My kenwood hits some sort of frame that is angled down towards the back.

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Are you referring to the back of the cavity? My ATOTO is much shorter than other head units, I made sure to get a shorter head unit to prevent hitting anything at the back of the opening. Only thing I had to cut is what is covered in this video.

    Quick question about grinding the subframe to fit the unit: I don’t have the Atoto so I’m not sure how much to grind off of the top, and I have the manual temp control so I’m not sure if any adjustments need to be made. How did you determine how much to grind the frame to fit the unit? What did you use to cut it? Thanks and great video.

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for your comment and question. I used my ATOTO as a guide to trim the upper part of the subframe. I used a dremmel with a cutting disc.

Sorry, I didn't purchase the Metra kit DP5859, I purchased the Metra kit DP 5818 which has the side pieces and 2 trim pieces. I was just wondering the reason for the plastic side pieces. Looks like in the picture there some ears that attach to those side pieces that attach to truck frame. Thanks.
