Latest Windows Updates, latest version of Google Chrome, that Emoji doesn't show up in the title. Just LYK
It’s the Apple logo. To emphasize I’m more of a Mac guy.
@@TheRandomAlphaGadgets No I'm just letting you know that the title is gonna look dum and glitchy on non-apple devices so if you want the algorithm to play nice with non-sheep...yk
Do you know how to fix the battery life?
I think you’re the only person on TH-cam I actually agree with. Why do these other “Mac TH-camrs” want ‘USB A’ so much built in? Everything Microsoft is a pain in the a***.
I also have to use a PC for a Pay-check cos I have to use Autodesk products for work so ordered the same Laptop.
We’ll done for not bowing down and copying other TH-camrs like other TH-camrs do to each other. 👍
Usually for the IT support team or places that still use type A connections (old ways). Having a type A port on a laptop helps someone remain more versatile with older products (Tvs, speakers, ... etc). Although the casual users buying new stuff will rarely need a USB type A port.
Which one is better, the Dell XPS 17, or the new HP Envy 17?
i got omen 16 i7 same specs in march this year( was only 12 th gen model available then) .. i can say it was quite a experience being picky like u & same struggle to exit apple ecosystem when ur every device is apple... both machines r similar in much ways... but its good to knw someone with a taste like u !!!
Solid review. It now being roughly 6 months later, I'd love to see you do a comparison of the new dell xps 9730 i7 with the new samsung book3 pro and ultra i7's. Also, any idea how much better the battery life might be on the 9730 versus the 9720. And lastly, regarding this xps 9720, any idea how much better the battery life is on the FHD+ screen versus the UHD+ 4k screen here, how many hours with each? Either way, thanks. Great work!
Well you sound like you're using this laptop's mike to record the narration 😀 And, believe it or not, good sound is actually more important than the visuals. Speaking of which, it's also not a good idea to utilize direct sunlight as your main lighting source.
Good review.
Regarding the trackpad, I believe Apple has a patent on that
Re: 3:40 Yeah sure, I dig USB-C too. But honestly, 1 TB 4 port per side and then an addition USB-A and HDMi would have my nees covered. Presentation for work? HDMi. Connecting most peripherals that aren't bluetooth? USB A.
Why would I even need this many USB C ports would be a more relevant question for my usecase. At home where I have a dock I only need 1 cable to connect everything.
Sadly, it's a Dell laptop, at the end of the day. That would be my main concern. About the number of ports, no, I am not happy that I have to buy a dongle. And the usb-c port on XPS is the same even on my older 9560 (you need to use more force to plug any usb-c cable in). It's nice that you have a full card reader port, but it would have been better to have an ethernet port (yea, they were able to make tiny ethernet ports in 2014 on the 14" business laptops, can't see why they just slaughtered it), plus a usb 3. For you, it might be useless. For me, not quite, since most of the people are still using the usb 3 and RJ45 port. Plus Dell made the WI-FI card non-removable. And that is a problem, since I had to change mine in my XPS 15. Also, you were talking about the screen and how unnecessary it is to have a 4K at that resolution. Absolutely untrue. Ever since I tested that 4K on my XPS there was no turning back. It's about my eyes, at the end of the day, so I can't settle for something lower than that 3.5K. Just give up on your Macbook or 3.5K screen and use the FHD one on Dell for 1 week, then go back to the Macbook. Also, I find it way too pricy for that type of screen, I'd much rather get the Zenbook Pro Duo (the 16" model).
I feel you man… At the end of the video.. 👍
Re dongles... Sadly you do need them; or you need to re-buy almost all of your accessories; and when you do, you have a severely limited range of choices. Don't get me wrong, I'm about to buy the XPS 17 this weekend, but I'll be buying some USB C to USB A converters and a docking station with ports.
USB Type-C - The Superior Port Explained... Again

@@TheRandomAlphaGadgets USB C/Thunderbolt is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY better... no disagreement there.
And yet, I'm not going to rebuy $1500+ worth of peripherals that are not as good as what I currently have, just because the port is better.
I'm gonna buy dongles and a port replicator.
Alright, your loss, not mine. Oh and it doesn’t have to cost $1500. All my stuff together costs about 10% of that. Don’t know what you have that would make it more expensive.
No1 factor with any laptop is its' upgradeability. What can be upgraded and how easy. Does the back plate have hinges that may fall off when opening, do you need to tear off a rubber stripe to uncover the screws? Is the battery glued, what SSD size and keys, how the keyboard is fixed, is wifi card upgradeable, are there two RAM slots etc. That would be a worthy review. All the rest is just not that interesting, one can go to a shop and check it, which is way better than relying on someone else's tactile opinion. But you can not disassemble the laptop in the shop before buying it. And one or two years on you will want to open it and upgrade the SSD or RAM or WIFI Card for WiFi6. Just to realise that the battery is glued, the SSD is 2240 and will cost you a ton, the RAM has just one slot and Wi-fi card soldered. And you have some loose plastic pieces inside, because you broke a couple of hinges, trying to pry open the back plate. So in my view if you want to post a worthy review, just bother to open it and inspect it. And if you check things like the wifi cards compatibility, that would be awesome. Otherwise, 3 out of 5.
I disagree. 4K is absolutely a necessity at 17" screen size; 1440p on 15, and 1080p on 13-14 display sizes. I swapped my 1080p on 9700 with 4k one off ebay, fixed the laptop. 1080p display is grainy, could not get text sharp with any settings.
I agree
sorry if i missed, hows the battery life?
Weird. Inconsistent. I actually forgot to bring it up.
I'm afraid that what makes a Mac a Mac is macOS. There is nothing too terribly special about Apple hardware, so it can easily be matched by Dell or anyone else. The Mac operating system, however, is the soul of the Macintosh platform.
Apple may have patented the glass trackpad.
To my surprise, Dell actually makes a Laptop with a glass trackpad. Their XPS 13+ has a gorilla glass trackpad. Before you ask why I didn't get that, It's because it's exclusive to a 13" Display, which is a deal breaker in my book.
Wait until you have to deal with their garbage quality control and terrible customer service. You'll change your mind.
Enjoy the honeymoon period.
Not bad of a video. However, for that price check in to the Surface Laptop Studio.
You should memorize your scripts my friend.
My opinion is that all built in webcams are crappy
2021 MacBook Pros would prove otherwise. I frequently use my MacBook’s webcam when I’m filming a browsing the internet scene or podcast.
dude you are literally reading from a script.. dossent look good
I just really dislike Mac OS, would rather have linux than Mac OS
