Noise from something loose or scraping!? Timing chain for all 1.3 mjet engines for all years

  • Hello guys! This video covers all 1300cc engines of all years and all brands that use them: Alfa Romeo, Lancia, FIAT, Susuki, Opel, among others. Every approximately 200,000 km you should pay attention to certain signs of noise like this one, which are not so obvious. Errors related to motor lack of synchronization also indicate that the chain has already passed its physical limit. It's replacement must be immediate, as well as all the cleaning of all parts and surfaces.

    I'm sorry but I must point out one thing. Never lift this engine on the sump, it's super sensitive, slightest dent and it can couse a low oil preasure and that is super hard to locate since you can't spot the dent with your eyes, it needs to be meassured to be discovered.
    I did it myself and spent a lot of time after chainging the timing chain figuring out what was wrong, I only run it for a few minutes but that was enough to mess up the turbo. During my search for the problem I only found one single line about this on google, only one, some guy having the same issue and that was the reason.
    And I was very careful while lifting the engine, still this happened.

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello. Thanks for the heads up. I am fully aware that. That's why I did it from the corner and only with the engine mount off.

      Hello. How are you? Thank you very much for watching! You are correct, aldo the ware signal wire seems correct because it is on the inside pad.

    I’m curious as to know how suspended carbon particles can stretch a chain that was designed for a diesel. Fiat have been making engines for a very long time and should have known what chain was suitable.
    Do you think halving the oils change intervals is going to help much?

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello. All modern engines suffer from this. They have to make lighter engines and engine components to meet emissions. That and too long intervals on services will kill any engine

    Really great video, I've got to do this on a 1.3cdti in a chevy aveo, this is the only video I can find on the subject as you can imagine there's not many chevy aveo enthusiast forums. It's got low oil pressure so I'm thinking there's some plastic guide parts blocking the pump as the timing chain is also due replacement. What bit do you use to remove the cam timing covers? Is it 8mm hex? I need something really low profile as there's less clearance on my configuration.

It’s a slightly different pump that doesn’t have variable flow but there was nothing blocking any channels. There seemed to be oil reaching all the right places as it drove quite a distance before getting to me with the low oil pressure light on, is there anything you can think of that would cause oil to not reach the pressure sensor properly? @@alfaromeonoproblem thank you, its normally the tensioner itself that is the problem, I only just noticed that they have a small hole in the back to let oil flow but in my opinion that's going to allow the oil pressure to leak off and put all of the effort on the tentioner spring, do you have a link please
