Good looking car...I own a 2013 and still OK...yes, drive gently, change the CVT fluid every year myself and added aftermarket trans cooler. Hasn't given me any problems...big car for the money
Yea Jatco has improved their CVTs. If you do research you can see there are far less issues than they had with first gen transmissions years back and have improved tremendously. I have owned 6 Mitsubishis since 2015 and now a 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium all purchased new and have had no issues with any of the Jatco CVTs. They worked out the bugs for the most part its just key to do maintenance and CVT fluid flushes every 30,000 miles like it says.
For those complaining about the CVT, CVTs have improved over the years and as long as you’re not trying to race in one or have a very heavy foot on the gas, they are perfectly fine.
I think the issue with CVTs is that for many manufacturers, the transmission is a sealed unit. That's their way of telling you that the transmission fluid is a "lifetime fluid", meaning that it's meant to last the warranty period and not longer.
I have a 2022 Nissan Sentra sv. I couldn’t be more happier with it. The only thing is the Hancook o.e.m tires that came with it. Which I’m about to replace with Michelin, Cross climate2. Which I think would do wonders on a car that already handles and rides well. Thanks for your video.
I own the same B18 '20 SR model since new, and I have been getting highway gas mileage in the high 40s and even got more than 50 mpg with eco mode, though I engage in serious economic driving, and the range is around 500 miles or more. The CVT gives surprisingly low RPMs on the highway drive, probably due to the overdrive ratio. The ride is very well-rounded and yet the handling is enjoyable on the mountain roads.
I just got the Sentra SV in Scarlet Ember, the cruise control on the tollway can help prevent crashes by setting the distance and speed, and automatically slows or stops if traffic gets congested, and has blind spot warning lights. You get a lot for your hard earned money, my old Corolla had 177K miles and was having a lot of repairs and issues. I have decided not to ever push a car that long again, as it wasnt worth much in trade in value and the repairs cost me more than a payment schedule on a nice new car. The heated seats and steering wheel are comforting on cold morning commutes. I have never had a car with so many safety features. My only concern is the giant skid plate underneath that has 20 or 30 plastic button connectors that have to be removed in order to get the oil changed, but i like that it protects the car from debris, and it has a white blanket so you can see if it leaks and what color. I check the oil when i get gas to make sure its not burning oil, it was a bit low at 1250 miles like a 1/4 of a quart low. Had the windows tinted, tinting cost 200 bucks at a local place, they were smoking pot in the car it smelled like weed for a few hours after that, it dissapated and the new car smell is back. it looks cool now and stays cooler from the hot sun.

The new Sentra looks great, but it still doesn't seem to be able to complete with Civic or Corolla, and even the Nissan Versa might be an overall better value.
I currently own a 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium but when I purchased this it October 2023 I was originally to get a 2024 Nissan Sentra SR Premium that day but when I went to pick up the Sentra they said it would be a few more weeks before it arrived as it had a transmission software update recall. The 2024 Nissan Sentra has a new CVT or newly updated CVT so as with anything there could be first year small bugs to work out so I decided against it even though I loved the look of the 2024 Sentra SR in the Atlantic Gray with Black Roof and had my mind set on it. They are such a nice vehicle and so refined and classy with a much nicer interior than a Toyota Corolla. The Corolla seems outdated inside and the thing that bugged me with the Corolla is how hard it is to get heated seats. Like a Toyota Corolla SE can cost around $27,500.00 (build one online) yet you cannot get heated seats on it? Even my 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE had heated seats for under $20,000.00. You can get them in the Corolla but you have to go all the way to the top. Its like this on alot of Toyotas where you have to move way up to get them and cannot get it on a mid trim. Hey they did the same thing with the Nissan Kicks and even though the Kicks SR is loaded up like crazy with features you dont get heated seats or heated steering wheel unless you add the $1,390.00 Premium Package which is a must in my opinion anyway for the Kicks for the audio system and primatex seats. The heated steering wheel I get being option but not the heated seats they should be standard on a top trim and available on mid trims. Anyway lol I decided to go with the 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium in Boulder Gray Pearl with the Titanium wheels instead of the 2024 Nissan Sentra SR in Atlantic Gray with the Black Roof. I am glad I did as the added height and ground clearance has made me not have to be so careful pulling out of my driveway or up to the curb parking at work. With my 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE you had to watch as it had the exterior sport package ground effects from the factory and the front sat low so you had to watch it didn’t hit. The Kicks has enough ground clearance to not worry about that. Where the Sentra sets very low but man its sharp. I had my Mother In Law purchase a loaded 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium in Scarlet Ember with the Black Roof in August of 2023 after she gave her 2014 Hyundai Tuscon SE to her daughter. Then a friend and co-worker Kathy that I advised to one got a loaded 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium in Boulder Gray with Black wheels and traded her 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport LE with 60,000 miles because she wanted something different. Her Outlander Sport was a great vehicle for her and had not one issue and it had a Jatco CVT as well. The Nissan Kicks uses the Jatco CVT-7 which was in three of my Mitsubishi Mirages I owned. I owned a 2015, 2017 and 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage with the Jatco CVT-7 and I had not one issue. I traded the 2021 Mirage SE on the 2023 Kicks SR Premium. Also we have owned a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and two 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Crosses all with Jatco CVT‘s and we have had not one issue. Several coworkers and family members also own Mitsubishi and Nissans with the Jatco CVT’s and have had no issues. None of them are the first generations of Jatcos CVTs that had all the issues though. So thats a good sign. I know the first generation CVTs by Jatco did have a lot of issues but that’s the past. The newer ones are much much better and the bugs have mostly been worked out. Sure there will be ones that have issues just like with any car. I know a guy who has a 2019 Toyota RAV-4 and has had nothing but issues with the vehicle from fit and finish to transmission shutters even though they are one of the most reliable vehicles on the road. It only has 28,000 miles. I also was looking at the all new 2024 Chevy Trax and 2024 Buick Envista but when I seen several reviews online with people having tons of issues with their new Trax I decided against it. I think they did amazing with those 2 vehicles but honestly with anything being a first year model there will be bugs to work out and then changes made then usually within a year or two its all good. I would have purchased another Mitsubishi and it would have been a new loaded Mirage but unfortunately 2024-2025 will be its last year due to slow sales and there will be now new Mirage so I switched to Nissan. That really was sad because man I loved my Mirages and they were great little cars I mean they really were. All three of my Mirage ms performed flawlessly. However I am loving my new Nissan and all the features likes its Bose audio and headrest speakers, heated steering wheel, 360 surround view camera, amazing g led headlights, its neat tablet looking audio touch screen, digital gauges and the seats in the Kicks are like wow to me. I know they are zero gravity seats but wow they fit my frame like perfect (I am 5’11”). I love how the CVT-7 in the Kicks is programmed different than in Mitsubishi and it has dedicated simulated fake shifts to feel just like an regular automatic and I really like it. Where if floored from a dead stop it goes up near 6,000 rpms and holds but if floored from say 5 mph it does fake simulated shifts all the way up just like in normal driving. I love it. The deal you get with the Kicks SR with Premium Package is unreal with sooooo many features its unbeatable at that price point of around $26,000.00 with the Bose Audio, 360 surround view cameras, led headlights and taillights, led fog lights, primatex leatherette seating, heated seats and heated steering wheel, 7 inch digital gauge screen, Nissan Connect with SOS, WIFI, remote start, adaptive cruise control, auto up/down front driver and passenger windows, push start, parking sensors, automatic climate control, rear automatic braking which works amazingly and have tried testing it several times and it works even if you are braking already, lane departure warning with a haptic vibrating steering wheel, SR dynamic ride control, trace control and active engine braking and soooo much more. As for this 2024 Nissan Sentra SR they are a great vehicle and extremely sharp looking and feature packed for its class just like the Kicks SR and with the Sentra SR Premium Package you also get a sunroof and power driver seat. Nissan really does the value play well and packs their vehicles with features galore. Nissan & Jatco (same) have taken strides to improve the CVTs and it has paid off and the new Nissans are great reliable vehicles and the CVT is good as well as long as you do the required maintenance with CVT fluid changes at around 30,000 miles. I am loving my Kicks!
@@johnkonde1975 I like the Corolla and its looks and definitely reliability I just loved all the features the Kicks SR Premium came with especially the 360 surround view cameras, heated steering wheel, Bose headrest speakers and the rear automatic braking and its huge feeling inside especially headroom. I hate the cheap plastic infotainment screen sticking on top of the dash. It's annoying. I prefer the cheaper Nissan Versa with the integrated infotainment screen.
I would never get a Nissan. That Sentra is nothing but problems. But it does look nice. A family member had a 2013 Murano and the tranny went to expensive to fix it so it was put in the junk yard. I don’t trust Nissan ever after that and it Was a beautiful SUV
CVT, ECO MODE, 30 City 40 MPG HWY. the year 2024. In 2007 my Honda Civic also got the same EPA Rating. 30 City 40 HWY. 17 Years NEW Tech and Same EPA.Same sized Car.
Cars have too many features. Why would you even need different driving modes in a car with a CVT? Seems a contradiction. My own car-a 2016 Hyundai Sonata-has different modes too. I just keep it in the mode the engineers intended. I figure they know what they are doing.
As a technician I will still recommend the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic they will outlast the cheap Sentra rolling pile of junk with the horrible Jatco cvt.
Don't buy this rolling pile of junk. It's a Nissan, and the headlights got a poor rating on all trims, below marginal, acceptable and good. Civic and Corolla all got good ratings.
At 1:11 of the video is reported that car has 14.3 cubic feet or 405 liters of trunk or boot space. This is the typical FAKE GOURMET sedan, the one that comes ready to be swallowed by an SUV. In the ranking of decent sedans (TOP 500 SEDANS) with a trunk capacity above 500 liters or 17.6 cubic feet it does not enter. The trunk of this car is smaller than the trunk of the Renault Megane, a HATCHBACK sold in Australia which has a trunk of 434 liters or 15.3 cubic feet of capacity or Kia Cerato GT, a HATCHBACK which has a trunk of 428 liters or 15.1 cubic feet of capacity. That is, it has a mediocre trunk smaller than hatchback cars. It's a disappointing sedan.

Then a friend and
co-worker Kathy that I advised to one got a loaded 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium in Boulder Gray with Black wheels and traded her 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport LE with 60,000 miles because she wanted something different. I know they are zero gravity seats but wow they fit my frame like perfect
(I am 5’11”).
Thanks for sharing! 2024 Corolla LE has auto up down on all 4 windows and feels a lot more powerful than the Kicks so that’s my choice!
Comparing features per dollar I could not find anything to beat it when researching and building the cars to my liking on each manufacturers website. Are you going to be getting a Corolla anytime? If so definitely let me know how you like it! I love the new Camry coming out especially with the red interior and its gorgeous dash!
Nissan + CVT cannot end well - speaking from experience of owning a 2013 Nissan Altima with 2 transmission failures
Those issues are a thing of the past
I hate the cheap plastic infotainment screen sticking on top of the dash. It's annoying. I prefer the cheaper Nissan Versa with the integrated infotainment screen.
They discontinued the dual projector LED head lights
Why not hybrid?
Yep it not a bad looking car for under 25K unlike the new Z Nismo for 75K 😀
Any truth on the transmission issues?
Needs a 5 speed
In Canada we get the 6 speed manual version. I have a 2023 SR manual and it’s peppy. Way better than the CVT.
I own a 21 Sentra. Nice little car, but man it needs about another 50-100 hp.😂
This car seems like it's 10 years too late but I'm still shocked there are any new vehicles available under $30,000.
japan made never doubt it
So if you’re not as picky as this guy 10/10
Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi should throw in the towel.
Why?
As a technician I will still recommend the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic they will outlast the cheap Sentra rolling pile of junk with the horrible Jatco cvt.
This is a good car, and the transmission issues have been addressed for quite a while now. You’re just hating for no reason
It's funny how there's so many fake "technicians and mechanics" in every single Nissan channel commenting junk. Nice try. Lol
Rental car agencies love these cars
If only it came in a hatch :(
That would’ve been too cool
Me crying in my 2018
Nissan always, I mean always, provides the top trim versions to reviewers. Any mention of the self destroying transmissions Nissan is so famous for?
All car manufacturers do that. And those CVT issues have been fixed years ago.
18" wheels on a Sentra... good grief.
The dash looks like a Kia stinger
This car is cheaply made, Buy a corolla or civic. I drove a 30 year old corolla, and it drove like it was new.
Love it
I own a 21 sentra SR. Nissan gtta do better. ITS LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME FUKN CAR 3 YEARS LATER
Small car.
Oh no
Terrible transmission 😮
It’s ok
Don't buy this rolling pile of junk. It's a Nissan, and the headlights got a poor rating on all trims, below marginal, acceptable and good. Civic and Corolla all got good ratings.
Nah i prefer mazda 6 speed
Imagine he stole this sentra
