    the color plated parawire and zebra wire are both subpar, during making an intricate weaved wire piece , the color flakes off, was so disappointed, but when i tried artistic wire i had no problems, so if you are starting out zebra wire is a good practice wire, but for finished pieces use artistic wire or sterling silver.

    I learned the hard way just get your customers recommended ear wires in in steel or whatever the metal is you recommend because my ears have really messed up with the bare copper that I have . I love Fire Mountain Gems magazines and video’s and all the Products I’ve received!!!❤️ you explain things right in the description like A is great quality and did is less and you show so much and explain why !❤️💋🎉
    My Husband retired and he saved me wire from some jobs before it all went to “fiber optics “ glass so I have a lot of bare copper wire from 20 gauge to 24 gauge !!! For the last few years, right before the Pandemic I ordered from you and loved it so I’ve been so lucky , happy that I found you ❤️💋🤟🏻🎉

    Thank you ever so much for your explanation of the different wires and properties. I thought it was so great to hear that what I had already thought about it and then some. I am so excited to start utilizing a great deal of the wires. I am starting over again, my home burned down and I lost probably 500 pounds of beads. Pretty devastating but such as life

    Really helpful -thank you. I love the moon earrings too. I’ve been increasingly moving away from plated wires and findings and towards silver as I’ve been making quite a few ceramic beads in pottery class - plate doesn’t stand up to the wear from the ceramic beads but I think you’ve just given me some extra options to try 👍

    Very helpful. Specially if you are new to wire working. I am allergic to some metals so always use Sterling Silver. Would suggest if designing to sell you inform on packaging what is your metal.

    How much guage wire should we use for making earrings?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching! 😊 The gauge of the wire would depend on preference and what type of earrings you are making. We would suggest something like 20 or 22 gauge wire in half-hard, but you can always try different gauges or hardness to see what you prefer!

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. We'd recommend using 20-22 gauge half hard wire for both toe rings and ear cuffs.

    Thanks for sharing. I have an earring I’m trying to replace but I’m not sure if it’s made of copper or gold plated. Is there a way to tell by looking at a photo and if so how could we arrange that?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be difficult to tell from a picture. Here is a resource of different metals that may help: www.firemountaingems.com/resources/ask-the-experts/97d1?term=gold+plated+and+gold+filled
      Here are links to both our copper and gold beads to compare the two materials:
      Copper: www.firemountaingems.com/shop/copper-beads?sortby=newest&page=2
      Gold: www.firemountaingems.com/shop/gold-beads?sortby=newest
      Here is a link to our earring findings where you can look at all of the metal types we offer: www.firemountaingems.com/search/earring_findings
      Hope this helps!

    Can we make links from beads with closed loops from soft wire?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can definitely use wire to create links. We would recommend using at least half hard wire though as softer wire will bend much easier.

    What is thebest wire for rosary beads.

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are using bead stringing, you would want to use something very flexible like Accu-Flex wire to avoid kinking the wire. You can shop Accu-Flex wire as well as our other wire options by using the link in the description. If you are going to be using a link method, we would recommend using eye pins. That way you can easily slide the bead onto the eye pin and it would only require making one loop on the open end. You can see our selection of eye pins here: www.firemountaingems.com/shop/eyepins
      On our website we also have a variety of design ideas for rosary beads; you can see them here: www.firemountaingems.com/resources/results?Resources=&Type=&SearchPerformed=True&PageNo=1&WT.rs=1&term=rosary+beads
      Hope this helps!

    Does the niobium color come off or turn the skin?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Overtime, yes, the color could wear off. Especially if the design, like a bracelet, is rubbed while wearing. It would take less time for the color to wear off on earrings. Typically it doesn't turn the skin any color, but every person's chemical makeup is different and we aren't in a position to give a definitive answer to that. Hope that helps.

    Does the coloring on niobium wire eventually rub off like Zebra wire?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello. It could eventually. The color choices come from the product having been anodized, which is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the oxidation thickness on metal. This colored oxidation is a coating that will scratch easily when using tools on it as well as when the finished item is worn often or stored carelessly with other jewelry items that can scratch the colored niobium. We hope that helps.
